Current mood:  relieved
I want to help Rita & Romeo (Romeo's Beach Fales) & family of Lalomanu W. Samoa who lost all.  Send money via paypal to ELSOL102@verizon.net  for pics http://www.bethfridinger.com  pics 74, 11, 128, 137, 143, 183, 187, 192-195, &181.  I spent 5 days in 2003 at Romeos Beach Fales in rustic fale and love them. They took me to her mom's house they are in the pictures.  They live a very simple life on a beautiful island in open fales near the beach and rent fales to visitors.  They have lost everything they had except their lives and I am so happy they were not killed.  Their beach fales were very simple and they were not well known to the New Zealanders & Australians like the fancier and larger operations and this made them very special.   Please help.

I am so sad that beaches got hit by tsunami but glad friends I knew and stayed with are alive. Many people died here. They have lost everything.

Reverb Joe aka Joe Scurio

Joe was a man of strong faith who loved his family very much.  He always made everyone feel special…he always listened and supported folks in any way he could.  He touched many people, not only his family, but many friends, with his kind nature and his great music.  Joe brought music everywhere he went, bringing joy to countless parties and jams with his guitar, fiddle, dobro, and mandolin.  His band The Reverberators played Sally’s and it was always so much fun hearing and dancing to them.  Joe will be sorely missed by so many people, all the folks who knew him from Somerville, from the music scene, the parties around Cambridge, Somerville, Allston, and other towns…as well as the Grey Fox Music Festival and the Rhythm and Roots Festival, where he jammed with many friends.  The party always came to musical life when Joe walked in the room.  There is a great vast emptiness and the city of Somerville will never be the same... he will be so missed by so many….all the parties in Somerville, Cambridge Allston, etc. will never be the same without him.  Joe also mentored many folks who became musicians or singers thanks to his support.  Those who knew him couldn’t help but love him.  His loving family and friends will always cherish the memories and he will live on in their hearts

Joe Scurio passed away last night of a heart attack.  Joe will sorely be missed by his dear friends, family, and music fans.  Joe often played at Sally O'Brien's in Somerville MA with his band, The Reverberators. Joe held a special place in the hearts of many.  This is truly a great loss.

It's hard to imagine the world without Joey.  He always brought music to so many everywhere he went.

Well I got to the festival this year...at the last minute I decided to go, and I'm so glad I did...I only brought my mandolin...so I was jamming till 4am on those 4 finger chop chords....LOL...I attended some workshops, and I was jamming with my NY friends and some guy took our pictures and so on Saturday night my photo appeared on the huge screen at the main stage in my purple T shirt playing my mandolin...and my other friend Mike was up there too...it was funny to see our pictures up there....
The music was great and I had a great time...we could have done without the heavy rain on Friday which was a shame...but I sat through till 12:30am in the rain in my poncho then walked back to my tent in the mud...I am fortunate to have outdoor clothing that is great in the rain, dries fast, and Teva sandals that are waterproof...  Fortunately the next day the sun came out and the muddy soggy ground dried fast...I love my Eureka Sunrise 8 tent which has weathered through hurricane winds and sheets of rain at another festival and kept me pretty dry....so I was dry in this heavy rain on Friday as well.
I left Boston at 11:30pm and arrived at 4am Thursday and set up my tent in the dark...lo and behold in the morning I had camped next to some people I camped with last year!!  My other friends from NY were there and was great to see them.  Thursday night I jammed till 4am and got 4 hrs sleep, but on Friday I went to bed at about 2am (rain) and got 6 hours, then on Saturday night I jammed till 4am...only got 4 hrs...up early to hang with NY friends before it ended...I stayed on site late hanging with some folks and enjoying being outdoors before I drove back to Boston.
The line up was great but I especially liked Mountain Heart...and David Bromberg...as well Del McCoury...Marty Stuart...etc.

Well I returned from 5 days of camping, live music, and jamming in New York at Walsh Farm which is a new location....had a great time...took a few pics but not too many this time...I had to do a lot of walking in the heat this time and did not feel like carrying a camera with me most of the time so I only took pics the first day and last day.
