Another Certified GAP for M+M
Phill Condrey recently passed the Google Adwords Professional (GAP) certification exam, making him one of two GAPs at Madison+Main. He is the second to earn the title. Jeff Maslan, Internet Marketing Manager, of our San Diego office, is also a GAP. Phill and Jeff are two of only 250 Ad Words professionals in the United States, and about 1,000 in the world. With two GAPs in-house, Madison+Main can become a Google Adwords Qualified Company. Be on the lookout for the Google logo on our website. Congrats to Phill!
M+M's Director of Communications Provides Political Analysis for NBC-12 and News Radio 1140 WRVA
Shawn Smith, Director of Communications for Madison+Main, continues to be the go-to on-air expert for the coverage of local and national politics on NBC-12 (Richmond, Virginia NBC affiliate) and News Radio 1140 WRVA (AM 1140, Richmond).
Recently featured by NBC-12 in an election-eve news story, Shawn accurately predicted the election returns and the future impact it would have on Virginia politics. He also continues to contribute to News Radio 1140 WRVA and just last Monday he provided on-air analysis of the recent shift in political leadership of the Virginia Senate. On December 1st-3rd, Shawn discussed the recent presidential straw poll in Virginia and the 2008 U.S. Senate race in Virginia with News Radio 1140 WRVA. The Metropolitan Business League now offers one-on-one counseling and a wide variety of seminars, classes and workshops each week. The Small Business Boot Camp [PDF] sessions are industry specific (food service sanitation techniques, restaurant cost control, construction project management) as well as general (customer service, effective meetings, teams and teambuilding).
Madison+Main President, David Saunders, leads the boot camp seminars for marketing and web, titled, "Small Business Marketing: How to get the word out there." Saunders, representing Madison+Main, provided proven concepts on how to market any business to increase sales and increase market share. His series will cover: Marketing 101, Web Design 101, Advertising and Branding, and New Media topics. The next seminar is slated for December 12th from 10am-noon, to be held at 115 E. This year, the featured speaker was Dr. James Crupi, who presented follow-up research to his 1992 report. The updated research, titled "Richmond at the Crossroads," discussed the state of the Richmond community and made recommendations to further enhance the region. Joshua Barber, Creative Director at Madison+Main, has been selected again as a featured artist at the Fourth Annual Silent Art Auction at the Virginia Museum of Fine Art. Barber's painting, "a stroopwafel and a handful of unrecognizable change," will be the auctioned piece at the event, which is conducted by the Friends of Art and will be held at the Art After Hours series in January and February 2008. This year's winning entry for Barber marks the third year in a row for his work to appear at the highly competitive event.

Midlothian Mechanical Chooses Madison+Main
Midlothian Mechanical has announced today that it has chosen Madison+Main, Advertising&NewMedia as its new agency of record. The two companies will collaborate on an extensive 2008 marketing campaign, which will feature print, radio, television advertisements, search engine optimization and web ads.

Vera's Fine Jewelers recently teamed up Children, Incorporated to celebrate the holiday season. Vera's hosted its annual holiday event on December 1st. The Open House featured the impressive line of designers at Vera's Fine Jewelers and a $1,000 of the proceeds went to benefit Children, Incorporated.
Chesterfield County Schools Recognized for GED Campaign and More
Chesterfield County Public Schools won seven awards in the 2007 Publications and Electronic Media Contest sponsored by the National School Public Relations Association. The school system's GED campaign, created and managed by Madison+Main, was selected as an honorable mention in the marketing materials category. Featuring the amiable, surfer-dude, "Ted" in print and radio spots, the campaign also used text messages to extend information about the GED program to the adult audience. Out of the 1,121 entries to the publications contest, Chesterfield County Schools earned one of the 125 Awards of Excellence, two of the 295 Awards of Merit and four of the 260 honorable mentions. Way to go, dudes!
