What's goin on guys?! Just thought I'd give y'all a little direct linkage to the latest installment of my series which I am affectionately calling "Acoustic Sundays"... This past week brought me to a marina in southern Louisiana on what started of as a beautiful (somewhere in the 60's) morning, but ended up hot as hell (as always). Hope you enjoy it, and stay tuned next week, Spano and I have something wonderful planned for you!

So not too long ago, a song called "Revolution" sprung forth from the GTB, and as I've been promising, it is indeed coming very soon, but I just wanted to give you all a glimpse of what it's about, so I'm going to go ahead and put the lyrics up online. I know people are free to identify with and interpret lyrics and music how it hits them, that's the beauty of art, but please know that for my own part, this is not a song of political endorsement, but a statement about how people need to step up and lay claim to the voice that is rightfully theirs. I'm tired of apathy. I'm tired of groupthink. I'm tired of watching the powers that be tell the youth of the world that they'd better just leave the big decisions to the "responsible adults". So there you have it.

Revolution
by: the Greg Talmage Band

Take a look around, don't you worry about what's holding you down now
Look towards the sound, to the beat of your heart when no one else is around now.
And don't be told you're not quite old enough, that your voice won't be heard now
Cause I'm not sold they know what's best for us, let's go and get what we deserve y'all.

I'm talkin' bout a revolution, can you get a little louder?
Let's make them pay for everything they've done, for thinking they could keep us down.

You see it goes like this, you can't be livin' on the fence
And declaring apathy it sits atop a list of sins
Now I can't pretend I started this trend, I'm gonna see it through until the very bitter end
If you want a change, you're gonna have to change, we're gonna have to change
I'm ready for a change
If you want a change, you're gonna have to change, we're gonna have to change
I'm ready for a change.

I'm talkin' bout a revolution, can you get a little louder?
Let's make them pay for everything they've done, for thinking they could keep us down.

Where the hell did we go wrong? How did we end up this way?
I want to hear my sweet freedom's song. Everybody are you with me?

I'm talkin' bout a revolution.

Cheers, and enjoy your February.

Hey folks, just wanted to share a little bit of music with you guys since we love you so much for being so loyal to us. Anyway, this is a brand new song that was recorded at our apartment studio type thing, so forgive any blemishes in its quality, and I hope you enjoy it. Just a quick word about the subject content of it. I've become so convicted that sometimes (most times) the hardest decisions in life are the ones which we HAVE to make, and sometimes, they involve causing ourselves or others real pain, but the fact is, we have to make those decisions and do what is best and continue to LOVE (please see the blog on that song also...) So needless to say, it's been kind of a rough week, but I hope some of you can hear it, and identify with it and really be helped by this song as I have. Much peace and love.

Greg

PS - here's the lyrics (I swear I'll get better about doing this for all our songs)

Slip Away

There's no words I can say, no song I can sing
That'll make this whole thing go away
Cause when you finally let go there's no way you can know
All the pain or the toll it'll take
In her hour of need as she faced all the things
That she feared and she prayed never come
You watched her fall, watched her die through it all
Just wishing today'd not begun

You want to hold her and kiss her
And tell her you miss her
Till her pain goes away
You find you're losing sleep
You can't hurt much deeper
And you've let everything slip away

And each moment it screams of the world full of things
You'd do differently, things you'd take back
But now sure as the sun, the damage is done
And you're left with just one thing you lack

I want to hold her and kiss her
And tell her I miss her
Till her pain goes away
I find I'm losing sleep
I can't hurt much deeper
And I've let everything slip away

Now she's crying herself to sleep
Now her pillow a black so deep
Now she's calling and you're stalling
Now she's falling.

I want to hold you and kiss you
And tell you I miss you
Till your pain goes away
I find I'm losing sleep
I can't hurt much deeper
And I've let everything slip away.

So myspace apparently has some glitches to work out with the new player as it's now been 3 solid days since I uploaded the song L-O-V-E and it's still not up on our page. Very disappointing myspace... Anyway, I still wanted to make sure that you had an easy opportunity to listen to it and download it, so I had to utilize other parts of the Internet to do so. So take a listen to it here, and you can download it here too!! Happy listening!

and here's the lyrics one more time for you:

You can't break the love that binds us
You can't dim this love that shines on us
You can't shake this love that sees no color
You can't kill this love that's like no other
So I say love was made for me and you.

I think it's time we put our fists down
Time to realize that we're all our own
If we could love our fellow man now
Could we put aside our differences somehow?
So I say love was made for you and me.

People wonderin' what the world has come to
Wonderin' what we're ever gonna do
Drop another bomb to
Show my point of view
Well I say, love was made for you and me.

L is for the way we look at one another
O is for our sisters, and all our brothers
V is very much aware that every word can touch us
E is every moment, every day and every one and
LOVE was made for you and me

Love was made for you and me
Love was made for you and me.

So we've posted a new song on our myspace. It's not on the album. It's actually a recording that was done at our apartment, and very quickly at that. It really just reflects a sentiment that I've had for a long time though, and I really feel like the world would be so much better if everybody just had the peace of mind knowing that we are all on the same side. No really, we are. There's no sense in fighting, or bickering, or stepping on each others' backs. A lot of times, we (the band) feel like it's harder for us to get ahead because we're not that cut-throat in that we do, in fact, limit what we are willing to do in order to get ahead. We don't screw people over. We don't break promises. Anyway, I really hope you'll all listen to this song, it's titled, "L-O-V-E" and I'm making it available for download, because really, I just think that if everybody felt a little more like this, the world would be a much better place. There are a lot of things that a lot of musicians are in music for, and I've been there on pretty much every level, but really, I think that music has an ability to touch people on such a profound level, and to not use that to spread the love we all want and need, and were created to give, is a total waste. And so, without further adieu, I present to you... LOVE.
