So one of my favorite places for music is Skope Magazine and no, that isn't because they gave me an awesome review a while back! I actually did an interview with Stoli that has been posted, so check it out!

Pretty nice to be on the front page with lesser known bands like Alice In Chains and Metallica.... keep going guys, you'll get there someday!

Hey there... this is another review for those who haven't read it yet (sorry, I have been crazy busy these last few weeks...) but definitely check it out...

http://wildysworld.blogspot.com/2009/07/review-jared-mccloud-romance-of.html

He seems to like everything but the voice... guess you can't win 'em all! Although he does compare me to a "young Springsteen"... WOW....

Be well,
J. McCloud

P.S. The voting in the Hartford Advocate's Grand Band Slam is now closed, but a GIANT thank you to everyone who threw a vote my/our way... hopefully we won something!

THANK YOU ALL! I have been nominated in the Hartford Advocate's annual Grand Band Slam for Best Male Vocalist, Best Guitarist, and Best Pop/Pop Rock Band! Also, the most kick ass rhythm section around, Dan Xenatro for Best Bass, and Marc Charette for Best Drums!

You are all so great for helping us with this, no we need your votes to help us seal up the win!

Also, up for the Best new band category is The And Band, and Flu is up for Best Metal! Get your votes in people!

I seriously could not do this without all of you. This last year or so has been a total whirlwind from getting picked up by SSR, working on the record, doing my first tour, having a kick ass CD release, and now this.... I have been incredibly fortunate and I have each and everyone of you to thank. Thank you for your continued support, I love you all!

Be well,

Hey everybody, The Hartford Advocate has just started accepting nominations for the 2009 Grand Band Slam! If you guys could help me out with the voting I would appreciate it so much!
I am looking for Best Acoustic and Male Voice in the Solo section, and Best Alternative/Rock band in the Band section.

Also, I would encourage, urge, poke, prod... all of you to vote Marc Charette for best drums and Dan Xenetro for best bass in the solo sections- they truly are the baddest rhythm section I know ("baddest" in a great way...).

I know that we can take this and it would mean more to me than you know to come out with the win. Thank you in advance for all of your help, and get your friends in on it too!

Be well,
J. McCloud

So wow, I am that kind of tired where you start seeing shit that isn't there....

This weekend was a total blast! It started on Friday, as it always seems to, with the the CD release party at UP or ON THE ROCKS in Hartford, CT. I arrived around 7:30 to set up and make sure that everything went smoothly for the other bands, well as smoothly as I could make them...

Tom Wise kicked off the show after an announcement from George at Sling Slang and man that guy writes some great stuff. Hopefully his record will be done soon as his songs have a way of burrowing themselves into my head... David James was up after that with Port Wine Authority- those 3 are so great to play with/hang around with. Great tunes, totally nice guys, I had a blast with them.

We were up next after Scott the sound guy had played some dance music (I dont know...) and we started with Marc taking the stage and going right into "Starlight and Fireflies". His playing is incredible and that show prooved him to be the guy I always wanted behind the kit, soid, entertaining, fun to watch, impressive, and all around a great guy. So after a few measures of his fills, Mr. Dan Xenatro took the stage and started laying down the low side of things... I can honestly say that his playing really seems to make this whole thing come together. I have played a bunch as of late solo, and a few shows with just me and Marc, but when the three of us get together I think it really comes together well... I was up next, and said a quick hello and thank you to the the crowd before ripping into the tune, which by this point had been building and building... good stuff.

The set I think couldn't have gone any better... Towrads the end of the night some of my oldest and dearest friends started feeding me shots, as well as some new guys too- I love it when the crowd is having a great time with me. This show marked the first time I can remember people singing the words back to me- not gonna lie, got a little teary eyed..

The set ended with an impromptu cover of "Hey Ya" from Outkast (yes serisouly) that segwayed into "Colors" and offically closed my set. Man I had fun..

After us was The And Band, who also had to wait for more dance music to be over to start, and I still dont really know all of the details, dont really care to say that I want to, but for whatever reason their set did not go as well as they had hoped. They started great, and the tunes were great as always, but I guess some sort of friction between them and the sound man made for a bad close to the set.

I packed up the car, and finally got home from Hartford about 3 in the morning. I proceeded to unload the car, then load it up again to make the trip to Allentown PA for ROCKFEST at the Crocodile Rock. Mel, Anna, and myself FINALLY made it to the hotelfor about 8 that morning and I CRASHED... woke up at 11ish, grabbed a shower, and headed down to the venue.

Marc and Dan, who I guess hit the road about the same time I hit the bed in the hotel, showed up around noon, and although we really did not need to be there that early, we managed to pass the time. It is so nice to have guys in your band that you can just be yourself around and get along with. We finally ended up taking the stage around 4:45 and by this time Anna and Mel had shown up with Jager-induced smiles on their faces... The set went well, although there wasn't a ton of people there, all you can do is just play your ass of to the ones that are there. It went well, and we packed up Marc who headed back to the "860".

After that we got something to eat at the resturant next door and waited to go on in the pub stage, which in my opinion was better than the down stairs one, it was way cooler (temperature wise) and there seemed to be a bunch more people hanging out in the bar (go figure, right?). I started about 8:30 and Dan joined me on "Catherine" and "Hides My Eyes" and set #2 was officialy over. Right about this time a really nice lightning storm rolled in and gave a nice backdrop to set #3 around 10:40ish. This set seemed to be the most fun of the day, people really seemed to have fun and sort made the day for me. After that, I said goodbye to Jim Fetzer and walked back to the hotel in the rain and lightning, which was nice. it only started really raining right as we got to the hotel.

We managed to hang around the room for probaly about 45 minutes and bullshat about everything from God to what is and is not "kinky" sex... finally Mel took her "Bucket O' Jagr" and headed down to the lobby to check out while we gathered our things. This is really funny to me to think of mel, tired and in her jammies with the enormous econosized bottle of Jagermeister that my brother gave her, waiting for us to come down... HAHAHHAHAH. We picked up the car and started to head home.

After HOURS driving and laughing with Anna till I almost couldn't see (I was actually crying), almost hitting someone who had hit a guardrail in a construction area, and turned around-blocking the whole lane we were in, PLUS ended up in New Jersey's labrynth of gas stations and one way roads off the highway, we dropped Dan off at Marcs in Bristol, Anna in Torrington, and I hit the sack in my house for about 6. It is now 8:30 ish Sunday night, and I wish I could do it all over again....

I am going back to sleep.

He everyone, just a quick note to catch up on things...

The other night at Silk City in Manchester was my first performance with new drummer Marc Charette and let me tell ya, the man can play! The show was incredible to play and he definately gave new life to songs that a lot of people were fimiliar with in my solo performaces. Hell of a drummer, and a nicer guy you would be hard pressed to find.

Now, the CD release show has been set for Friday, May 22nd at UP or ON THE ROCKS in Hartford, CT. This has been probably my favorite room to play in so I am so happy that I get to unveil this record to everyone there. There will be other Sling Slang bands on the bill, I will post them as they are confirmed. Make sure you set the date!

See you all soon. Be well,
J. McCloud
