PLACEBO Announce 2010 Jakarta Show

PLACEBO are delighted to announce they are to play the Istora Senayan, Jakarta on the 16th February 2010.

Tickets available from all regular ticket outlets from the 30th November.

PLACEBO WIN 'BEST ALTERNATIVE' AT THE MTV AWARDS!

PLACEBO are the winners of the MTV 'Best Alternative' Award 2009!

Congratulations to the band, and a huge thank you to all the incredible fans who voted helping PLACEBO to win their first MTV European Music Award.

The Album Battle For The Sun has been the bands most successful to date.

During the Winter tour dates of 2009 you will not only be able to watch the incredible show by Placebo and supports, but will also get the chance to see a Short Film Festival that will be screened before the gig and during the artist changeovers on the mainstage screens.  
The ShortsTV Film Festival, launches at the Paris show on 24th October, features the work of 8 highly talented international film makers, for which Placebo themselves shortlisted. These movies may be short in length but they’ll be big on impact.
Presented by ShortsTV, the short film channel, and Livewire Televisual, the live music video and TV specialist, the 8 short movies will be competing with one another and fans from across Europe will be invited to vote online for their favourite at Placebo’s website in the coming weeks. The winner will be announced at the end of the tour.

Last night PLACEBO began their Winter 2009 Tour in Dijon, France and continuing the celebrations on from the FREE 5 track tour bundle download they released to fans on Monday, PLACEBO are delighted to launch their brand new interactive GIGS ARCHIVE on PLACEBOWORLD

So you have been to an incredible show, taken some great photographs you want to share and would like to tell the world about the show?

PLACEBO are delighted to announce that they are to play the 'World Alpine Rockfest - Paganella Ski ' on the 22nd December 2009 in Andalo, Italy

Watched by an international television audience and thousands of spectators, sixteen Alpine ski stars will battle through four rounds of Giant Slalom until only one skiier is victorious, taking home a record prize of € 100,000!

After the dramtic climax of the ski competition, PLACEBO will perform their breath taking show on Dosson’s Olympic Slope 2.

The event will be packed with breathtaking sights, aggressive racing, all set within a very intimate atmosphere and eventually closing with the crescendo of the electrifying Placebo concert.

Tickets for this unique event go on sale October 24th 2009.

This Friday, September 18th,  fans in the Philippines can tune into a 2 hour 'PLACEBO Special' radio show, presented by DJ Mondo on  103.5 MAX FM.

The show begins at 6pm local time (11am GMT) and will feature special PLACEBO remixes, cover versions and some of the bands more familiar material.

There will also be exclusive competitions to win exclusive 'Asia Style' Tshirts and merch, plus copies of the Limited Edition CD & DVD version of the new album 'Battle For The Sun'!

Playing alongside PLACEBO are the Argentinean band, Los Babasónicos.

At 00:40 this evening, Friday 11th September,  Channel 4 in the UK will screen a poignant and incredibly intimate 30 Minute 4:MUSIC documentary called

'PLACEBO - A New Tomorrow'
Filmed throughout the bands Asian tour last month, 
'A New Tomorrow' documents PLACEBO's intensively demanding promotional schedule and the 5 shows they played, including the infamous 2nd show at the Japanese 'Summersonic Festival' where Brian collapsed on stage

On March 11th 2009, PLACEBO Fans were able to pre-order their copy of the beautiful and Very Limited Edition Box Set of the stunning new album ‘BATTLE FOR THE SUN’.

As you may have seen in Stefan's PLACEBO Summer 2009 Video Documentary, the first of the lucky 'Golden Ticket' winners got to claim their their prize recently!

Stefania Simonini from Italy, bought a copy of the Deluxe Box Set Edition of the new PLACEBO album 'Battle For The Sun' and inside found one of the 5 Golden Tickets!

Stefania choose to meet PLACEBO, have dinner with the band and watch their performance from side stage at the Italian Love Wave Festival on the 16th July 2009.

We asked her to let us know about her 'Golden' day with the band, and this is what she had to say:

"Meeting PLACEBO, was an experience which I define as the most beautiful thing that could have happened to me, it was so wonderful! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to meet the band that I have followed for over 6 years and I love so deeply.

At first I was very scared because I was afraid to disturb the band in any way, but to my great happiness placebo and all the members of the crew treated us with great kindness and understanding, so thank them deeply. I felt immediately at ease!

There are no words to describe the emotion I felt at meeting placebo for the first time. When I first saw them I even cried a little bit because I had dreamt of this moment so many times, that it didn’t seem true to me that they were so close!

Having dinner with PLACEBO was also fantastic, the guys were very friendly, and we talked a lot, then Brian asked me about what I wanted to do after I finished high school, then we spent almost all our time with them in the dressing room and we had photos with Brian, Stef and Steve!

The concert was fantastic, I sang the songs with all my voice and I have never been so excited, in their songs I always find a bit of myself! PLACEBO are very important for me, and have accompanied me for a long time, in dark moments where I felt the need for comfort, I love placebo because of that. They are the only band that always know how I feel.

Brian gives body and soul on that stage and his voice has accompanied me for a long time and will stay in my heart for all my life.

This was the most beautiful day in the world! thank you so much for this amazing prize!"
