Join us for the 4th Annual Jerry Garcia Birthday Bash as we celebrate the music of one of the greatest musicians who ever lived, Jerry Garcia and his band The Grateful Dead. This years lineup includes the smooth acoustic sounds from Matt Tillery, the ever groovin' boys of Jescoe, Murfeesboro's soulful rockers The Last Straw, southern psychedelic jams from Turtle Folk of Savannah, Georgia, and our very own funky stash - Grandpa's Stash. All bands will be performing songs by Jerry Garcia himself and the Grateful Dead. You'll want to be here from start to finish so that you don't miss your favorite song!

This year's performance is extra special, as we are donating our door proceeds to help rebuild the Georgia Theatre in Athens, Georgia, which was engulfed by a fire on June 6th. The historic Athens landmark was over 100 years old. Lets come together as fans of rock 'n' roll and show our support for this incredible venue.

Hey there friends! So we have decided to start doing weekly blogs, where a different band member discusses a different topic each week. We are hoping that this will give you a chance to keep in touch with us a little better grip on what we have going on. My first post is going to be about Bonnaroo, and the music-filled weekend Middle Tennessee just experienced. I truly felt inspired this weekend as soon as I got to the festival. I am hoping that this inspiration will turn into creativity to write new tunes, as these feelings are fresh. My mind has been racing with new ideas and personal feelings, so I think it will be a good start for me. Did anyone else get this feeling at roo' or was it just me?!? It was amazing to see the mass amounts of people shuffle to the music. I caught myself asking on a regular basis "what is it exactly with the music that makes this occur?" I am going to continue to rack my brain and try to really take the songwriting to the next level, in hopes to evoke this feeling just as some of the bands did this weekend. I took notes mentally the whole weekend, so WATCH OUT! Haha, no but seriously, I really am privileged to have had the opportunity to go see such great music this weekend and I'm grateful for every minute of it. Inspiration has overwhelmed me and I hope it will find its way to you before too long. Until next time :)

peace,

Whats up friends?  Man, we've had such a busy year so far.  Everything is going great.  The new album is selling very well and we've been playing our asses off.  We've hit several new cities with great response and have even gotten distribution for "Brought To Life" in Europe.  Hopefully we'll be going across the pond for a tour this fall or maybe next spring.

Anyway, that time of year has come around again.  One of the biggest parties on the beach you can experience.  Widespread Panic is doing their annual string of shows in Orange Beach, AL, and we're gonna be there again.  Last year was phenomenal and we had a huge turnout.  Well I think this year is going to be even better.

Go to SwampMeat3.com and check out the lineup.  It's going to be ridiculous.  We'll be playing Friday night at The Keg from 11:30pm 'til 1am, then again on Saturday night at Rafters from 11:30 'til they shut us down.  Come on out and party with us.  See ya'll there.  Peace.

Sunday, May 18th will be an exciting day for the Straw. We are booked for a very special performance at 3rd and Lindsley in Nashville at 8pm which will be broadcast live on Lightning 100.1FM (voted Nashville's best radio station 11 years in a row by the Nashville Scene reader's poll!).

The band will get to perform 40 minutes live on the air! We hope you can make it to the show but if you can't make it, then tune into Nashville's lightning 100.1fm at 8pm. If you can't get 100.1FM on your FM dial, then go to www.wrlt.com and click to listen to the broadcast streaming live over the internet!

As soon as we finish with that live radio perfomance, we will pack up the trailer and head over to Nashville's biggest rock station, 102.9 "the buzz" FM, to give a band interview live on the air. The station will also be spinning tracks from our EP!

So tune in to Nashville Radio on May 18th, The Last Straw is taking over the airwaves!!!

thanks for your love, friendship and support!
