The Mishap Begins on January 25th, 2009. When a band meeting commenced with two former members of KINKY PORCUPINE gathered at guitarist James Guerin's house along with drummer Erica Rocks joined along with long time friend and new bassist Drew Schumacher. Along with several of our friends, the band discussed moving on after the departures of our former bassist and guitar/harp player.

It turned out to be quite the beginning when the band got together for those first jam sessions at Phase 1 Sound. The band would concentrate it's focus on streamlining the sound, playing more aggressively, and making sure that humor and good vibes would be an essential part of the music! Many tunes that were popularized by KP have carried over the new band, such as LSD, Molly, and Be.

The great thing was not only the old songs were sounding great with Drew learning the parts in record time, James had presented some material that wasn't appropriate for the old band, and these have turned into some really fresh sounding songs that really get people going! These include: Ska?, Don't Think Twice (About Me), Hottie Raver Girl, and Thirst Annihilator! 

What was evident right away was the new connection in the rhythm section, with Erica and Drew locking in real fast with that wicked 5 string bass! The music seems to have more urgency than ever! As a frontman, James has been excelling in more open interpretation in his solos and writing.

Each session always has yielded some extraordinary open jam, a secret only shared by the few special people who have been at rehearsals. Good folks like Shannon Rice, Emily Fasolino, Rob Figuero, Gillian Sgroi, Collette Gushue, Craig Pyes and Nicki Andrews have been essential in helping us. Weather its been providing us with photos, videos, beer, Sparks, vocals, website and overall encouragement!

Some people may recall, there was a huge debate over renaming the band. Erica had been insiting on keeping the old name, and after weeks of haggling and brainstorming, The Mishap Brigade was the name that stuck!

As things started rolling, the band planned "The First Mishap" at Traxx in Ronkokoma. The debut performance of The Mishap Brigade was set for Saturday June 13th, 2009. In what could seriously be only described as a potential disaster turned into a triumphant evening, The Brigade split the evening with two other bands, The 20Belows all the way from Denmark, and Ionize. When the Danish band discovered they could not go on without certain gear, The Mishap Brigade stepped up the plate and delivered drums and amps, and of course our fans who showed up in force! Some of the best punk rock was put on display by The 20Belows, who hung around for our set also. Since the night had some cancellations The Mishap Brigade rocked out with putting in some overtime, playing a blistering 80 minute set! Our friends in Ionize capped off the night with a nice long set. A preverbial tip of the cap to all who made it a great night and of course Kevin Traxx!

The next and most recent conquest was two weeks later also at Traxx, where The Mishap Brigade opened the Be-In Hard Rock Fundraiser II with a number of awesome acts. Once again the band played with aggressiveness and passion, and fans were treated to one of those jams during soundcheck.  The night concluded with a special appearance of Erica Rocks guest drumming with Steve Lieberman The Gangsta Rabbi!
