Well, the deadline has past (07/01/2008) and we will no longer be accepting presskits for Nehemiah Fest 2008....sorry!  We have received around 80 submissions for 40-45 performance spots and have begun our selection process.  It will be a difficult programming process and we feel bad that we won't be able to let everyone play.  If you missed the deadline, be sure that you put this event on your calendar for Nehemiah 2009...it will be the same weekend in September next year.  Be sure you keep your eye open for the call for presskits in the Spring of 2009.

If you are interested in performing we will feature a new venue this year at Nehemiah Fest...an OPEN MIC Stage.  We haven't given it a name yet, but plans are to have a select few solo acoustic acts or track singers that will man the stage...but there will be opportunities to walk up, sign up and play a short set for ANYONE visiting the festival.  So come on out and get heard!

Nehemiah wrote:
"O LORD, God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and obey his commands, let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer your servant is praying before you day and night for your servants, the people of Israel. I confess the sins we Israelites, including myself and my father's house, have committed against you. We have acted very wickedly toward you. We have not obeyed the commands, decrees and laws you gave your servant Moses.

"Remember the instruction you gave your servant Moses, saying, 'If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations, but if you return to me and obey my commands, then even if your exiled people are at the farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place I have chosen as a dwelling for my Name.'

They are your servants and your people, whom you redeemed by your great strength and your mighty hand. O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name. Give your servant success today by granting him favor in the presence of this man

Nehemiah 1:5-11

The first thing that Nehemiah did was pray. He prayed for repentance and forgiveness. Nehemiah prayed that God would hear his petition for success and favor. You'll notice that Nehemiah didn't give God a laundry list of complaints. He just a laid it all down. He accepted responsibility for the mess and then asked for God's favor and blessing, before he moved out and mobilized the troops.

The Nehemiah Fest crew has been challenged to start each day with their own version of this prayer. The key points to remember when lifting them up is that it is not the fact that you utter the words....because a chant is just a chant. Prayers from a genuine heart are those that are heard.

Like Nehemiah, don't give God a to do list, but instead pray for forgiveness, wisdom and direction. Ask God to fill us with His spirit. Ask God to keep us focused on His will and plan. Our success will not be measured in the number of ticket sales or sponsorship dollars. Success is realized only when we are completely and totally in His will.

God will move....and is moving!

Remember, "Don't think big...think obedient"
