LOVE ALL, TRUST A FEW, DO HARM TO NONE - Shakepseare ------------- So it's been yonks since I have posted a blog. So much has happened. So much and so little. 1)I was offered a job, and then they promptly (next day) rescinded the offer because an internal candidate wanted it and was qualified and cried fould play about hiring from the outside. Have a phone interview for a job today at a lawyers office, but until the offer I am still looking --- So I STILL NEED A JOB, and I'm talking like RIGHT NOW PEOPLE, so if you hear of anything, let me know. 2) I had my cousin's 4 yr old (Fiona - FEE) for 10 days. Having not had a 4 year old to look after for the last 14 years, was not helpful in this challenge. I have almost never been so exhausted. It was fun and now I am known to her by the nickname "Bumblebee" (Come on, Collette IS a hard name when you're 4) 3) Some friends broke up, some friends lost a child, some friends I got reaquainted with (and am so happy for- hullo bellisima gente de FDR!) some friends I miss dearly and just don't get the chance to see often enough. 4) Chelsea leaves for Florida Southern College on Saturday. She is a lifeguard at the pool there, will be rushing greek and has declared Bio as her major. I think the last part may become something else later. She'd be a great grief counselor at a hospital, or a forensic psychologist, or the cheif medical examiner at Orange/Osceola County.... (OH WAIT, Dr. G. already has that job...), speaking of Dr. G. I snagged a luncheon with her in September and will be bringing a book for her to sign for Chels and maybe ask her to impart some advice to Chels. 5) Chris got some vacation which he kindly shared some with Fiona and I at Islands of Adventure on Sunday last... now he has I thikn till the 19th still left for vacation so we are spending it being together when we can, which is lovely. 6) Did a photoshoot for Del Vecchio - new headshots - his agent asked him for some, so that was fun, the business is taking a little back seat until I get Chelsea situated in college, then I'll be back up running hard -- I forsee late September to start up the engines... 7) a lot of other little things, but that gets you up to speed a little bit. This last month was just plain exhausting... paperwork piled up... laundry piled up... creativity piled up.. no excuses... it's a new month. --------------- In other news -- Family Guy' mastermind Seth MacFarlane settles one of his show's worst/best kept secrets: Stewie Griffin is gay. -------------- Guitar Icon, Innovator Les Paul Is Dead -------------- There is so much more, but I am sleepy... nap. Y'all have a brilliant brilliant.

And it's beginning to get to me, That I know more of the stars and sea, Than I do of what's in your head" - Snow Patrol. Yes, I think so. ------------ Apparently, the heads of Walt Disney World and Disney Land have a friendly rivalry as well besides the two teams (Lakers and Magic), The winning park's city will have the head of the losing park come and do the main street parade and the Castles (Cinderella's and Sleeping Beauty's) are being lit in the colors of their city's team. Who knew... ------------ I am heavy into singer songwriters anyway and have Aqualung, David Grey, Joshua Radin and Matt Nathanson and Matt MacKelcan and Christian Wilson to thank for that among many others, and am surprised by how excited I am for the new Linkin Park cd. I was thinking about it and was surprised how many songs I knew and liked, so here's hoping the new one is great as well. On that note I would also like to say that I wish My Space offered us up a player that let us have more than 10 songs on it at a time. I have to change the songs like every week. It's annoying, when all I want to is hear my music. ------------ Uploaded a lot of oldies but goodies on the Facebook pages. It made my heart happy to see some of the shots. I love some of the subjects with all my heart and am so honored they let me photograph them. Others I respect so much and am humbled when they choose to utilize them for publicity purposes. It's a joy to see one's work being appreciated and used. ------------ I am completely overwhelmed with emotions over music this week. So much speaks to me on a daily basis anyway, but this week, it's been just all consuming. I think it goes hand in hand with the photos. Wrapped up in a shiny bow, like a birthday present, it was just almost too good to open. Open I did, and was overwhelmed with the intenisty in which it hit. There really has hardly been any silence for the entire week, with me even falling asleep to it. ------------- I never tire of this and often listen just to get some french in.. AND THE CROCODILE and HIPPOPOTAMU!! OH MY! http://www.i-am-bored.com/bored_link.cfm?link_id=35694------------ Off to edits and setups for the upcoming shoots. I leave you. Have a brilliant brilliant.

OMG - PET SHOP BOYS at HOB. 9/11 Happy Birthday to me! Disney (Magic Kingdom) in the morning and PSB at night! In the 80's, my sister and Neil had a meeting of the minds on a tube ride in London. She immediatly recognized him, he acknowledged that she recognized hime and she smiled at him and left him to be. (this also happend in Harrods with George Michael of WHAM - my sister - she's like a magnet, I don't know....) This is the way of my sister. She doesn't want bubbles burst. I understand that. You don't want to find out that in real life that people you respect musically are douches. I respect Mel Gibson as an actor and his choices in roles and genres. But at the end of the day, he's a douche. There are even LOCAL musicians who for all intensive purposes are brilliant musically but others know them to be full on asses. So no bubbles burst today y'all. Let's just be happy for the music. I mean come on, when's the next time Neil and Chris are going to come to HOB Orlando? --------- Spent most of the day yesterday with photographs around my ankles... Love looking at the old stuff and it got me excited about the new stuff coming down the pipe. Grabbing a few people before they move off to NY to get a few shots in on Saturday, might be shooting Matty and Rusted Root Friday night at HOB, the two series I am working on, the art show coming up at City Arts, still have soooooo many negs to go through and transfers from digital cards, it's insane. I have to pick out 2 or 3 to use at the show, y'all have any suggestions of what you think might be easily classified as "Oh, that's a Collette shot"? It's too hard to narrow down my faves. --------- "Whenever you see darkness, there is extraordinary opportunity for the light to burn brighter." -Bono-- --------- In other news, those of you who have been to my humble abode know my big arse peruvian leather coffee table (the width of which is 3.5 feet and 17-20 inches tall), well I finally found a place that can recover it. I'm still pricing it out and HATE to do it as it was bought in 1984 and we had the coffee table, which was bought for a friend of my mother's who never came to pick it up, an ottoman, two end tables and two chairs and my father's Chess table all done at the same time, but the years, and a baby and nail polish parties when you're 5, and no coasters have kind of really made that table look loved in. It's a brown now, I am thinking about black to replace. ---------- anyway - whole new set of photos to edit and go through.. I leave you. Have a brilliant brilliant.

Somehow, it doesn't have the same impact it did back in 1997... ------------ What do you want your last days meals to be? Easy - Breakfast - My Meemaw's French Toast, canteloupe and jelly toast with OJ. Lunch - A prawn and cucumber sammie from London's Old Compton cafe, A crisp 1/4 wedge of iceberg lettuce with honey mustard dressing, a lemon Sorbet from the Pizza Hut in the West End,with Diet Cokes and,for dinner Macaroni Grille's Fettucine Alfredo, A Ruth's Chris 6oz petite filet mingon, a baked potato from Outback and a yellow cake with chocolate icing with Michelob Ultras, a Strawberry Daquiri, a Pink Diamond and a Diet Coke :) ------------ I had these in my wedding bouqet, I love purple... ----------- Today (you're so lucky...)I will give you my one little business sense/knowledge- If you check the availability of a domain name and it is indeed available, buy it asap. I didn’t quite catch the ins and outs of how, but there are companies/individuals who track what has been searched for and not bought – and then buy it so that you’d have to pay them a premium rather than $8 or whatever to get it. Seriously, it can go within an hour. So if it’s important to you, don’t lollygag. ----------- and I leave you. Y'all have a brilliant brilliant

On that note, AERISING is looking for a vocalist. ------------- I'll be doing The Bad Girls "Sensory Overload" art show at City Arts Factory with Mel Taylor. They are hitting shopping and eats, not really bothered with the shows and such. How is she my child? ------------- Watched SWAT, Gladiator, Titanic and Clue this weekend. I love movies. Am changing the business name from Katidid Productions Photography to Pocketful of Poses for various reasons.
1. I am no longer producing shows. Benefits, paid gigs, whatever, I just don't have the energy or the patience to mother bands through a gig. (Been there, done that, got too many tshirts to tell) I am always willing to help out other producers but am not prepared to do it by myself again. I am also no longer taking baby bands under the maternal wing. It takes the life blood right out of me anymore.
2. The photos that I am taking as of late are mostly portraiture and less music. This is telling me that my focus is changing. Although I love live music, I find I am not able to enjoy the shows (especially shows where my friends are the featured musicians) as much because I am worried about lighting and the like. I will, however, continue to take photos of my friends when they are playing if they want me to and when a national act comes that I want to shoot and have the press pass to do so, I will.
3. I love portraiture. I love finding the story behind a subject's eyes. I think you tell so much about a person from their wrinkles, lines, crooked smile, freckles, hands, even their laugh. A great laugh can be captured on camera and it's a glorious thing. I love the telling of stories in portraiture. There are stories that are told when capturing musicians, it's just a different genre.
4. This said, I am finding it difficult, especially because people know Katidid and some know ME as Kati and don't even know my real name, that it is going to be a big challenge. I am going to have work even harder than when I first started to get the name out here, so people get the change. New cards are being made up. I have postcards being made with various subjects I have taken, and am hoping that a targeted mass mailing will help in the process.
5. Pocketful of Poses called to me because I do indeed have more than a pocketful of poses to put people in, the ryhme makes me happy and it also opens up the possibilities of child portraiture more. This is important as I am going to be doing a father/daughter series in the next month and continue on my mothers/sons series as well and want to incorporate more childrens shoots into the mix.
Anyway. I have 1 new client and a repeat customer in the last week, so that's encouraging. I just wanted to let y'all know why.
New My space for the business is www.myspace.com/pocketfulofposes Katidid will continue to be my personal myspace.

For some strange reason I am reminded of the day Clifford The Big Red dog came to our Crown Book Store in Bowie. Crown is no longer in business but it had a really good children's program. My daughter loved going there and looking at the books, hearing stories told and sometimes meeting the characters. To my chagrin, we missed meeting the Bearenstein Bears, but I digress. I saw a photo of Clifford the Big Red Dog today and it immediately brought me back to when Chel was so young and so interested in everything around her, unbusy, not stressing and I just want to remind her to take the time to be that way again every once in a while and see and feel the awesomeness of that same innocence again. Never lose that childish innocence and wonder. I like to think I haven't. ------------- My horoscope says to keep reminding myself I am on a mission. Yes, well, I must be like frigging NASA because I am on many missions... ------------- Mmmm-hmmmm* *Mmmm-hmmmm!* I’m clearing my throat in a condescending tone here, people. It’s Friday! Don’t you dare tell me you forgot about the free Mars chocolate candy coupon offer that’s available every week. Let me guess, you’re going to forget about my birthday too. And our anniversary… This happens every year! Look, I think we need to talk… LOL. Just a reminder that starting today at 8:00 AM Central time, or 9:00 AM Eastern you can get a Free Coupon for your choice of Mars Candy Bars! Mars is giving away 250,000 Free Candy Bars every Friday starting today all the way through September. Hurry and get your Free Coupon now! Remember the rules state one coupon per email address per week, and a total of 4 coupons per address during the entire promotion, so even if you signed up last week, you should be able to sign up again! ------------- I love that the name of this chest is Colette :) Curvy, classic lines. Yes indeed. ----------- I’m not a big fan of summer- too hot for my tastes. This is surprising, since I was living in Panama by the time I was 6 months old, Florida by 7 years and on the freakin Equator at 16 and 17, (Peru's northernmost point is really, really close to the equatorial line. It's southern latitude is in fact just 0º02..00"), then Cali from 19-21, yes, heat and I - old enemies. Whereas then, I could lie in the sun for hours on end, some days oiling up with the Banana Boat or Johnson, some days not even bothering with that, now I dread it. Don't know when it happened, but I finally just stopped enjoying it. Yay for my skin, boo for my tanner self. I am darker than most of my family (my grandmother's spanish side), but still am pale in the everyday world that is Orlando. This summer, I hereby state, I will get some color to me, even if it means, UGH, the hot. ---------- Speaking of the hot - something that might make it better - Stop by Friendly’s on Saturday (6/6) between noon and 5 p.m. to get a FREE single scoop cone or dish of ice cream to celebrate Free Ice Cream Day. Find a location near you. ---------- Am excited for the weekend. Much to do, all very fufilling, and who knows, maybe I'll get some sun :) Till tomm., y'all have a brilliant brilliant.
