crazy!  last time we played at SAGE in June, it was very full, the party on stage lasted until 3am long after we had disappeared backstage for free beers :)



This time, it is their 12th anniversary, so we are honored to be invited back to play this Thursday 26th Nov.  We will play new material currently being recorded for our 2nd album as well as our "hits" Get it, Myriad Sounds and Vienna :)) and we expect you to sing along!!!

Hosted by British Bands Ignite, THE ROADS long awaited return to Zapata, joined by The Stonedrifters (UK) and Ken Burke (IRE) is a 3 band line-up. A camera crew will be wandering around the whole night filming our TV advert, a 1 legged bass player crammed on stage with keyboards, guitars, drums and a 5 piece band...

THE ROADS debut album was released in Feb 2009 and hit shops in March.  We released the 1st single, GET IT, now... we want YOU to vote for the 2nd single.  3 replies will be chosen to receive signed DVDs, the album, both singles and beer stained T-shirts :) in October!

great success! today we reached a deal to sell our album in Dussmann, one of the largest music retailers in Berlin, and on special display for listening for the next 4 weeks!!!

We moved all our gear on Friday in a big truck and 2 cars, and settled into our new flat in Berlin.  We are writing from the internet cafe in Besarinplatz, about 30m from our flat until the technicians instal internet at home.  First impressions: beer is more expensive than in Prague, but there is a great pub called Die Planet just below our building where they serve bloody strong beer called Berliner and play White Stripes :)
Yesterday we were in Ikea and bought cheap furniture to get our stuff off the floors at home and make room for our instruments and beds.  So far though, the best thing we have found in Berlin is each other... it's cool living with your best friends and building a band up again where no-one knows us :)))

as I am writing, lots of people are working...

- our graphics guy, Lukas is finishing the album booklet,
- Simon and Ondra are polishing the mixes and mastering,
- our good friend Mike in the UK is working on banners and the website release,
- Alex is working on the DVD and live videos in Berlin,
- I am working on gigs and promotion and distribution with Ondrej
- people are voting for the roads online in 2 band competitions, www.jackdanielsmusic.cz   www.rgmlivespace.cz   (we hope :)
- someone is baking 2 big cakes in Prague 4 for the album release party, in Roxy, 23rd Feb !!!

and amongst all this, we are packing for Germany, ready for our move there on 1st March 2009... Ja!!!

As we gear up for our big move to Berlin in the New Year, we are getting further into recordings for our debut album.  Stepan has quit school to concentrate on the roads and our girlfriends have started hating us now we are in the studio everyday, appearing in the world outside for gigs and to visit friends in other bands 

We gave our new moog a trip outside to our last show, which features on 3 tracks on the album, and we will take it to the bigger stage in Akropolis 16th Dec.  and, my brother will fly from sunny Grimsby in the North of England to see our show 20th Dec in the bands second home of Ceska Lipa.  This will be our 3rd pre-Christmas gig there, and I must say the atmosphere has always overwhelmed me, especially as I usually have to learn a Christmas Carol in Czech for the show

My heart is warmed this month as well by the Myriad Creatures, who I visited last weekend after a spontaneous decision to jump on a train to Berlin.  They are still living the rock n roll lifestyle and have laid down all their basic tracks now for their debut album.  Was great to see them talking about their studio sessions and producer with passion again, and we are pleased they like our tribute song to them, Myriad Sounds. everything they produce has feeling, Jamie's voice cuts through all sound straight to the heart! listen to them or get to their shows www.myspace.com/myriadcreatures

Charlie Straight in CZ are ironing out their mixes to release their debut album in the New Year :) and we look forward to playing with them again in Rock Cafe, Jan 22nd.  www.charliestraight.com

So, it's a time of firsts... and maybe, hopefully, enough new bands will have the courage to join us, embrace all the cheap tools avaiable today and lay down their albums as well so we can kick the shit off the radio we are served everyday.
