I spent most of last week up in Nashville working on a few tunes for the new record. I'm basically producing the record myself and then doing the mixing in Nashville with my old friend Rob Burrell. This record is going to be really different from my first three records so it will be interesting to see what everyone thinks about it. I think the record will probably come out sometime early next year and we are starting to look into tour dates for next year also. More info to come....

I have been pleasantly surprised with how many songs off the last record that MTV has used in their shows this year. The Paper used "Shine On Where You Want" in the spring and Parental Control has used "The Paintaker", "Just Listen Tonight", "Unlucky In Love" and "Shine On Where You Want" in shows this summer.

The biggest news may be that Paris Hilton's new show on MTV this fall, Paris Hilton's New BFF has already used "Atmosphere" and "He's a Faker" (twice) and "A New Birth", so many thanks to the MTV staff for being so supportive of All Done In Good Time! Check out the show's website at www.mtv.com to see which episodes are using my tunes.

Hopefully there will be more placements on MTV in the future.....

We had a great show Friday night at the Next Big Nashville Festival. The 5 Spot was a really cool club and we had a good crowd there. I found out after the show that Gillian Welch was there for my set, so that made it even better. My bass is a fanatical fan of Gillian so that was a big thing for him.

Also, I found out a few days ago that I will be part of the Paste Magazine audio channel on American Airlines for all their flights in November. AA has more than 4 million passengers a month, so this is a great development. It is called the PasteBeat channel which is a 45 minute music show that loops continually. They will be playing "Shine On Where You Want" off the record.

I will also be included in an ad in Paste Magazine and in the American Airlines in flight magazine. "Shine On Where You Want" will also be included in a promotion Paste does to all the indie record stores in November where they give "bin cards" to all their customers so they can download the song for free.

We had a great time at Dfest in Tulsa! They really have a good thing going there. Good bands, friendly people. If only they could cool the place off a little then it would be perfect. It was my first time to see Apples In Stereo live and they were great.

Also, they have an video contest sponsored by Red Bull where indie filmmakers pick songs from Dfest artists and put a video together in 48 hours. The videos for two of my songs, Shine On Where You Want and This Darkened World, came in 2nd and 3rd for the entire contest, so thanks to those filmmakers for doing such a great job and for choosing my songs. Hopefully I can get back to Oklahoma before too long.

We had a great show at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia this weekend. It really is a great venue and we had a great time hanging out with our friends in Philly. Village Green Productions was the promoter for the show and they have been doing some great things in that area. I hope we can get back there this fall as we start touring in September and October.

I'll be playing at The Double Door in Chicago this Thursday April 24th at 8:00 for the International Pop Overthrow Festival. I hope everybody in the Chicago area can come out for the show!

We are currently working on a number of tour dates for this spring and summer so check back often for new shows. We are currently in contact with a number of  summer festivals in the midwest and south, and we are in discussions now with several clubs up the east coast including Philadelphia and New York. So, it looks like we will tour up the east coast and back through the south and midwest this summer.

Also, we've got some exciting news that we will be announcing soon about one of the songs off "All Done In Good Time" being including in the soundtrack for a great new movie that will be out this fall.

And, those of you in Chicago look for us on April 24th at The Double Door!

My third record "All Done In Good Time: The Life and Times of Polly Shields" will be in record stores and online digital retailers on October 2nd! I'm really excited about the new record and I'm looking forward to hearing what people think about it. Plans are tentatively being made to tour in early 2008, however, we will be doing a few shows in the next couple of months.

You can also pre-order the record through my record label's store at www.superphonicrecords.com .  They will begin shipping CD's in early September so you can get copies shipped to you before the release date! Also, there is a story line that runs through the record that revolves around four characters. We will eventually have the booklet that includes all the lyrics and characters, which comes with the CD, available for free digital download soon  on my website.
