Moodgadget Says:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Like a prism, songs Spun Simla's 8 remixers refract the warm, glowing light of the original, separating it into sounds from nearly every band in the electronic music spectrum.

The prolific Daedelus (Ninja Tune) kicks off Songs Spun Simla Remixes with an epic, lo-fi baroque march. Sounding like a tonic composed of early work by the Microphones, and the Avalanches; "Chiaroscuro" bubbles up with airy flute harmonies, soaring string and harp crescendos, and brass flourishes. Slowing things down a step (if only for a minute) Landau Orchestra steers "To Scale" into warm, sensual waters, melding portishead-esque piano and vocals, before motor boating into choppier waters with funky clavinet and breakbeat.

Machine Drum encases organic hip-hop in "Embers" with searing Dr. Dre-esque gangster bass and lead, dizzying "Fly Like an Eagle" arpeggios and compellingly off-beat hand claps, adding meat to the skeleton of Benoîts vocal fragments. Adapting the best from Aphex Twin's playbook - Shigeto, binds a simple and catchy music box melody, to blooping bass, and juxtaposes it with complex, multi-layered and intricately syncopated percussion–complete with a scintillating electro-shock snare.

Hello! Its been a bit, but I’ve got some tasty updates for any of you who care.

I have some upcoming releases to fill you in on -

First, my next major release, "Songs Spun Simla", written with my good friend Benoit Pioulard, will hopefully be released later this year under the tasteful and underrated Music Related label. My friend and label-mate Pandatone has grown Music Related over the past few years into a haven for lush, mature and sometimes quirky sounds. The EP will be released under the artist "Praveen & Benoit" since the music is as much Mr. Pioulard as it is myself.

Other than that, I have three songs on the upcoming Moodgadget and Ghostly International compilation, "Synchronicity Suite." Slip Slop, Buddy and Death as a Man. It will be the first time that Slip Slop & Buddy will be available and the track with Benoit offers a taste of the upcoming Music Related EP.

An EP of unreleased material from miscellaneous projects between Backed By Spirits and now will also probably be released on Moodgadget in digital only form in the coming months.

Much love,
Praveen

Hey! Whats up everyone.

Been quiet over here - though I've been active this winter working on upcoming releases. Check out Moodgadget for some of my music on compilations. Also, keep an eye out for my upcoming Benoit Pioulard remix which should be released this spring.

Percussion Lab and my personal website PraveenSharma.Com will be getting a much needed visual overhaul soon. But before then, keep an eye out for the next featured set on Percussion Lab, Landau Orchestra Live, from our past Flying Lotus record release party.

But RIGHT NOW - be sure to peep my featured Ghostly International / XLR8R Podcast now on XLR8R.Com where I drop gems from Luke Vibert, Flying Lotus, Cepia, KILN and more...
