You may have seen the recent campaign on Sky (TV) for this ‘Leaders’ Debate.

Now I get very uncomfortable when a tabloid channel like Sky starts using its muscle to stage a beauty competition which will undoubtedly go some way in determining the direction of our Country for the next four years.

Will the debate happen… well it’s all about Murdoch at the end of the day?

Murdoch is a man that tends to get what he wants and has an uncanny knack of backing winners… he sided with Thatcher and Blair.

Recently Cameron accepted free flights to hold private talks and attend private parties with Murdoch on his yacht, where I would think, they dreamed up this genius plan to turn our political voting process into the Fucking X Factor.

What next, strictly Politics… fuck it, lets have Political cage fighting or just ‘cut to the quick’ and see which of them has the biggest dick…hmmm.

Brown is now in an impossible position, if he says no he will be portrayed by the Murdoch media machine as a coward and this decision will be shoved in our faces right up to polling day… If he says yes, he will be at the mercy of the Sky editors who will destroy him on camera and the heavily edited clips of him performing badly will serve only to further boost Murdoch… sorry, Cameron!

If there is going to be a debate it needs to be ‘network’ wide and run by an independent body… done properly.

We actually have a place for political debate… it called the Houses of Parliament, you can’t miss it… big building in Westminster.

What does the Pope watch?
What does the Pope listen too?
What does the Pope read?

These are important questions, because someone that carries so much ‘weight’ should have their finger on the pulse on what is actually going on in the world before opening their mouth, especially if they choose to add their opinion and guidance to a subject matter so devastating and sensitive as Aids.

A lot of countries take very seriously what the Pope preaches and in regions where it is widely believed that the ‘cure’ for Aids is to have unprotected sexual intercourse with a virgin, his comments are unwelcome and goes along way in undoing a lot of the hard work that has already been done by way of educating many of these cultures.

What is interesting, is the reaction to his comments from across the piste… even Catholics, they have been as welcome as a Geordie fella’s ‘groans’ in a porn film (if you have ever had the misfortune to watch a porn film with a Geordie fella in it you will know exactly what I mean)… demonstrating how increasingly out of step the Vatican is with the rest of the world.

I know that this is just another one of many ‘provocative’ comments from Beni and I also know that this is tame in comparison to say Pope Pius XII's actions during the Holocaust, but nevertheless, his comments could have some long term serious implications.

Have a happy Damn Friday.

If you are not aware, I have been campaigning for standard payment terms… Please see links below for details.

It is imperative that we add our voice to this cause as the companies that would benefit can’t… let me explain.

In the food industry, for example, Supermarkets and Major food manufactures will not look favourably at existing suppliers lobbying for ‘reasonable’ payment terms.
It wouldn’t surprise me, in fact I’m pretty sure, they would threaten their current suppliers with losing the business if they choose to support such an initiative.
This is why I don’t expect much in the way of ‘Vocal’ support from manufactures for this petition. But you and I know that these manufactures want this, if fact, at this moment in time they need it. Manufactures that I have spoken too whole heartedly support the proposal.

This is why we have to be the ones taking the fight for fair Industry Payment Terms to the Government… This affects all of us.

Have a happy damn Tuesday

I never thought I would see the day when an evil force would enter the galaxy and topple the current ‘Evil’ galactic champions… But the Traffic Wardens days are over… now that the Clampers are in town. Pushing the Wardens into the lower evils along with solicitors and such like…

These fuckers, like Wardens take no prisoners, stalking the streets hunting for the over run ticket and chancer… the only difference is the clampers do it with shit loads more venom, vigour and passion.

Every car that the clampers see is potential revenue. It is common place to see them stooping to such lows as hiding in bushes and around corners ready to pounce anybody and I mean anybody. The list of horror stories and victims is endless, clamping ambulances, disabled vehicles, moving vehicles and even a hearse with a coffin in it. These bandits’s often acting outside of the law and all too often preying on ignorance a fear.

It is fair to say that clampers are using the SIA (Security Industry Authority) license to increase their profitability at the expense of decency and fairness.

The problem is… and I find this fucking astounding, clamping firms are required to have a SIA license but there are no rules on what fees they charge??, this has led (obviously) to some staggering and outrageous cases of injustice.
Surely someone could have seen this coming, if not, a least have the fucking intelligence to introduce some guide lines and fine limits.
There is no doubt that this is costing the tax payer a small fortune putting right through the courts…

Anyway… have a happy damn Monday and lets hope that this week is a blinda!

Does anybody really think that putting alcohol up in price is going to really curb binge drinking??

Come on for fuck sake… Do we really think that we have been that good at bringing up our kids, creating a generation of price sensitive bargain hunters, when the complete opposite is nearer the truth.
Teenagers today look at the price of anything…LAST, if at all! (I know that this is a sweeping statement, and there are exceptions out there)

Whacking beer up a couple of pence per litre is just going to penalise everybody, not to mention pile more pressure on the pub industry, who are struggling to get punters through the door as it is.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not making light of the whole issue of under age/binge drinking or whatever you want to call it. It is a really hard issue to solve. Putting up the price is one of the many things that have been suggested… I also appreciate just how much this must be costing the NHS treating people with drink related injuries and diseases… I am guessing the cost is huge.

But, we shouldn’t be surprised that drinking is a ‘problem’, drinking alcohol is a part of our culture… Northern Europeans have been getting lizard faced since we were walking about in bear skins and wearing hats with horns.

I guess the real question is… will price really have that much of an effect on social responsibility?

...I don't think so.

Have a happy damn Wednesday (night!)

And don’t forget to add you voice to this:

I posted a blog a week or so ago with regards to Payment Terms.

An issue that I know many feel pretty strongly about.

The petition that I logged has been accepted and now requires signatures.

We will need at least 200 signatures for consideration but around a 1000 signatures to make a real impact.

If you feel that this is something worth spending a couple of minutes on I would really appreciate it if you could hit the link at the bottom and add your name to the list. Please feel free to pass the link to anybody that you think would benefit from this proposal.

I will be leaving updates on the MySpace and the word-press site below.

Please don’t hesitate in contacting me if you have any questions or comments:

http://quadie.wordpress.com/

Proposing:

Introduce an industry standard contractual payment term of no greater than 28 days from receipt of invoice.

I hate the train companies…

Now this may be as a result of the shitty service that’s lodged in my memory, a service that never justified the amount paid for a ticket. I know that this has changed but I also know that this continues to ring true in many areas.

But the thing that is really pissing me off at the moment is this recent posturing and baulking by the rail companies at the thought of ticket prices being forced lower come January next year (Ticket prices are linked to the Retail Price Index, which is expected to dip below zero by July,  when next year's prices are calculated).

So here is the thing, all the time that inflation has been on the up tickets have risen... but not just with inflation, above the rate of inflation, that’s ABOVE the rate of inflation.

Now the rail companies want to sever the link between themselves and the RPI (funny that) saying that a reduction would cause the service to enforce service reduction and redundancies… Bollocks, utter bollocks.

These are typical fucking scare tactics and comments of a small group of greedy fucks desperate to protect their six figure bonuses.

These companies have more cash stuffed in the mattress than you can wave a stick at… and do you know why? Well, it may be something to do with the British commuter having been paying the highest train fares in Europe for years… up to four times as high in some areas.

So, we now have the rail companies kicking off at the prospect of someone saving £40 on a £2000 annual season ticket… the sheer arrogance of some of these companies never ceases to amaze me.

Considering how much I’m pissed off about this I thought I kept the swear count quite low!!

OK… I love Thursdays, so I hope you have a damn good one.

I’m not too sure if any of you have a Facebook account… I have. I guess, if you enjoy the internet and bouncing around you will try most things.

But to be honest, I just don’t get Facebook… You spend an absolute age trying to find people that you once knew and surprise, surprise… you still have absolutely nothing in common with them. In fact, the only thing that you ‘ever’ had in common with most of these people was that you went to the same school.

Then there is the time spent just… well looking at the damn site, it has got to be the biggest killer of time ever and I have been as guilty of this as anyone…

But this is what makes me chuckle more than anything about this site, the time invested in avoiding actually socialising with people. Now believe me, everybody does this.

There is a little button that you hit to take yourself on or off line… you hit the button to see who is online, 98% of the time there is either no one you want to chat to or no one at all, then you hit it again, quickly, to get yourself off line just in case someone dare try to talk to you!

Social Network my arse!

I have recently been on Jury service and I can tell you, it has had a profound effect on me.

The case I was on has left me sick to the pit of my stomach… not because of the detail in the case but because of the decision that we arrived at (by majority 10 to 2-I was in the minority). The conclusion of which meant letting a previously convicted sex offender walk free. I may go into this in some detail at a later date.

But I can now say, with a fair degree of confidence, that there are people that are called into Jury Duty that just shouldn’t be there, stating the obvious I know.

Some of the Jurors lacked attention span, common sense, rational thinking and basic intellect.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that I’m some fucking genius but I do possess the basic tools to analyse and evaluate… unlike other members of the Jury that I was on.

What is evident is that the Jury system needs some thought, I’m not suggesting that we have ‘professional’ Jurors… that would cause a huge conflict and rightly so (prosecuted by the crown and the facts presided over by a Jury paid by the crown… hmmm!).

There needs to be a process in place for sorting out the incapable and the uninterested… even if it’s a questionnaire that comes with the summons. I’m sure there is some bright fucking spark out there that can put together 20 questions that will go some way in determine whether  the candidate is suitable or not.

I am assuming that most of you that read this are of sound mind and hold a fair degree of common sense, if you are called upon to attend Jury Duty… GO, the system needs you to maintain the balance between the good and the damn right shite!!

I feel a petition coming on!
Anyway, have a happy Damn weekend

Apologies in advance, this is a little long winded and different to what I normally post but never-the-less, something that I feel pretty strongly about.

You will see below a petition that I have sent to Number 10... An attempt to help out those companies in the 'middle' (providing it gets the nod).

Payment terms

Payment terms have long been the most contested aspect of most contract negotiations and have long been stacked heavily in favour of those at the end of the food chain-so to speak…the giants of industry which can range from Supermarkets to Government agencies...

The end users unwillingness to pay for their goods and services on acceptable terms is creating a huge imbalance in cash flow across the whole of industry, generally having the greatest impact on the areas of industry that need the most support… manufacturing for example.

This obviously doesn’t only apply to manufacturing; this is a common theme throughout all industries… construction, Logistics the list is endless. ...

Small and medium sized businesses across the UK are being stifled by the larger company’s reluctance to pay for their goods and services in a timely fashion. Sometime insisting on terms of up to 3 months (paying for their goods 3 months on receipt of invoice) when the supplier or provider would have had to pay for their goods in 28 days or sooner...

It is plain to see that the beating heart of UK manufacturing is being squeezed ever tighter and yet still being forced to support large companies across the land, large companies that are continuing to post huge profits...

This isn’t a plea for government handouts but a plea simply for fairness, a plea for a standard to be introduced across the whole of industry. Introduce terms whereby everybody pays to a maximum of 28 days from receipt of invoice.  ....

Then, small to medium sized businesses wouldn’t need to rely on loans for expansion and growth. They could reap and grow from the rewards of the sales of their own products and services.

Anyway, hoping you are having a happy damn Saturday!
Take care

We have energy prices going through the roof, food prices soaring and you and I are paying more for… well, bloody everything.
Everybody seems to be pointing to the changing global environment as the reason, that's right, go blame the one thing that can't answer back… Mother Nature

It's not just us, I can tell you that this is the same for manufactures. I can name a few buyers that I deal with that have contemplated the leap of faith as a result of the changing climate…

But what of those that are selling the products to you and I, not just food but utilities like electricity, gas and fuel… in this gloomy economic climate are they suffering, are they fuck

BP posted 4th quarter profits of £1.5bn (2007)
Shell posted annual profits of £13.9bn (2007)
Tesco posted annual profits of £2.5bn (2007)
British Gas posted annual profits of £2.1bn (2007)

It would seem that some out there are having a fucking hoot… There is a huge imbalance here people. It's no wonder that these 'Go Compare' web sites are doing so well… I'm gonna create a 'Go fuck yourself' website which will be purely for those amongst that are continuingly having the 'shit' ripped out of us…

I work in an industry where sentiment is king… a butterfly flaps its wings in China and oil prices soar on the back of bad weather in South America.
See bad news makes money and the more of bad news there is, the easier it is to raise the price of everything and anything… the industry love's bad news…

Look, I'm not stupid… I understand that these companies are there to make money. But, when you have many on the poverty line, pensioners not being able to afford basics like warmth and a provider posting obscene profits it gets you thinking… something is not quite right

I hate Wednesday's

Happy damn Wednesday

There is no denying that on occasion I have wished for more than prison for some convicted criminals… I even blogged about how unhappy I was that Huntley didn't quite pull off his suicide attempt…

And I understand why the families of the five women murdered in Ipswich are calling for that monster (Wright) to be executed, who's to say I wouldn't feel the same if something similar happened to a member of my family

But do I really believe that the death penalty should return… no.

See, the way I see it is that the death penalty should be, like any other penalty, a deterrent and I am not convinced that it is. Look to the countries that that still practice the death penalty, do you see year on year falls in crime as a result on the maximum punishment being handed out… no.

And I know you could argue that if the death penalty didn't exist that crime would be higher but I am still not convinced.

I think that monsters like Huntley, Wright and Sutcliffe etc. would have still killed whether the death penalty was still around as the last they had on their mind was consequence, as they were/are sick and deranged.

This is not to say that I am completely happy with which the way they are treated in prison… I think that their existence should be just that… a mere existence, no press exposure when one of these sick fucks gets a kicking and when they get life, it means life and add to that just three privileges eat, shit and sleep.

Really sorry for being so grim on a Friday… believe it or not, I actually feel pretty 'chipper' today!

Anyway, have a blindin weekend and have a happy damn Friday
