A few days after Christmas, a six year boy was having a chat with his mum. He asked, "Mum, is there a Santa Claus?" "Well, what do you think?" She asked him. He replied, "Well, my Playstation that I got and my gift from Santa were wrapped in the same kind of wrapping paper." He thought for a minute and said, "I'll tell you what ... you and Dad can go on buying me presents and let's just forget we ever had this talk!"

Wishing you all a safe & happy xmas! Here's hoping it's full of plenty of xmas cheer & heavy metal! We look forward to seeing you all in the new year! ..m/

The Think Tank Press Release

December 6, 2006 is a day that we will never forget. A day that changed our lives forever. In the early hours of the morning we lost two of our dearest friends to a horrific car accident. They were drink driving.

Two years later we decided to honour their memory the best way we knew how, a music festival. December 20, 2008 saw in the first ever Rock For RADD benefit concert, an event to raise awareness to the dangers of drink driving in our society, and raise funds for RADD.

What do you get when you combine a new name, a new charity and an over flowing bucket of talent? The Think Tank Music Festival.

This is an event to raise awareness to the dangers of drink driving in our society and to raise money to support the crusades of the National Brain Injury Foundation (NBIF).

The Think Thank is gonna be HUGE!

It will be held at the University of Canberra on November 14. There will be 19 acts covering 2 stages with something for every musical taste. We have metal, punk, rock, pop and DJ's.

DAYSEND is a progressive Australian Metal band fusing an array of musical genres to create a hard-edged yet melodic sound. They are a melting pot for various styles and influences ranging from thrash to hard rock and good old-fashioned heavy metal. The explosive five piece rocketed onto the scene at the beginning of 2003 boasting members of various high calibre local metal bands, all with the passion and determination to take their wares to a higher level.

LORD was born from the ashes of Dungeon, one of Australia’s most high profile and long-running heavy metal bands. Dungeon disbanded in late 2005. LORD hit the ground running in early 2006 and immediately embarked on a national headlining tour, going on to share the stage with Queensryche, Nightwish, Nevermore, Saxon, Gamma Ray, Leaves Eyes, original Iron Maiden vocalist Paul Di'anno and more.

CASINO RUMBLERS - Bitch slapping, bone crushing double bass, vocals straight from the belly of the beast, some obsessive guitar riffs, vein ripping, eye popping brass and a psycho drummer, will leave a scorching impression on your soul, only the devil himself could challenge.

FRANKENBOK's 5 releases since their conception in 1997 have seen the bands sound evolve into a blistering yet mature blend of original metal. The precision filled musicianship does not falter during vigorous live performance & ensures all round satisfaction for the Frankenbok enthusiast or any first time listener.

THE VEEBEES will be taking the stage and supporting their latest release 'Live at the Summernats'. If you haven’t seen these guys before you need to ask yourself what the hell you have been doing! Do yaself a favour, go check them out, buy em a beer or two and have a bloody good time!
4 Blokes, 3 Chords, 2 Brain cells and 1 carton of beer, what more could ya want.

THE AUSTRALIAN KINGSWOOD FACTORY hailing from Melbourne put on a high-energy foot to the floor rock show like no other.

LOOKING GLASS local veterans, psychodelic rock band with influences like Sabbath, Zeppelin Hendrix and Deep Purple

ESCAPE SYNDROME Bringing a unique mix of intricate melodies, catchy hooks and soaring vocal lines, and being recognised within the local scene for their energetic and high powered live shows

EBOLAGOLDFISH Having just released their latest addition ‘break up sex’ which continues the harmonic punk message these boys have been spreading for years.

JOHNNY ROADKILL is a hard rocking outfit combining hard beats, tough vocals and thundering guitar & bass.

POINT OF VIEW has a modern Australian rock sound, driven by dirty vintage guitar tones, a tight punchy rhythm and infectious rock melodies.

THE GREAT ESCAPE Since landing on the scene, they have been making a buzz with unforgettable live performances and catchy chorus melodies that you’ll be singing the next day.

ALL GUNS BLAZING inspired by 70s/80s rock such as Megadeth, Joe Satriani, Whitesnake. Be prepared for an all out balls to the floor rock show!

NEVER TRUST A BUNNY Goulburn-core at its finest! Make your way to a show; sit back, drink beer, mosh out, whatever... We're sure you wont be disappointed.

PAQMAN ‘…slapped me promptly up the left side of my face … [Paqman] were cranking out the most wonderfully weird live set I’ve heard in a long time…tweaky psychedelica, solid melodics and deep beats.’ - inthemix.com.au

DERTY RICH loves a party and is infamous for his antics. Bursting onto the scene in 2008, he has seen a very quick rise holding down monthly gigs at the one and only Chinese Laundry plus playing sets in Canberra for Friction/ Lexington.

DJ METAVIRUS began producing music in 1997 experimenting with samples and beats. He began DJing live in 2006 with IZAD (International Zombie Awareness Day) and is a resident DJ at Chrome nightclub, where he has been for almost 3 years now.

DJ NOT YOU & DJ EVIL CHRIS round out this impressive line-up. Expect the unexpected when these guys take to the stage and take you on an electro journey you won’t soon forget.

Rip It Up - March 2009

FRANKENBOK
The Last Ditch Redemption
(Prime cuts)
4.5/5 stars

Melbourne’s Frankenbok have the dogged determination to get through anything. Line-up changes, label changes and the Melbourne fires can’t slow these guys down. Guitarist Yeti’s family lost a lot in the Black Saturday fires around Kinglake and the boys were there recently to show their support by doing a free ‘BBQ gig’ for the locals and friends.

Their indomitable spirit has kept the band rocking since 1997 and has seen them tour NZ three times. Vocalist Dan McDougall possesses an impressive voice and sings with serious commitment and disturbing power. The band has taken a 3D approach to this recording using samples and sounds to segue from track to track. It’d be a fkn sick movie! Track 1 introduces us to a manic and disturbed critter desperately digging a hole before a drop starting chainsaw counts us in for the bludgeoning “Dig”, fast, angry and very cool. It’s a pit anthem for sure. A stinky Aussie drunk drawls and moans from a cell before the band busts out with This Monster My Son.

Australias most underrated rhythm section is outstanding on this recording with the propulsive and pummelling drum work of Mick Morley and the aggressive bass playing of Tim Medeckie cementing and metalizing everything they touch. The guitars of Aaron Butler & Nathan Amatnieks sear and scream bloody murder and the vocals reinforce the threat. In a couple of spots the intros seem to go on a little long but the songs really are worth the wait. The title track is a real winner, it reminds me of a sludgy C.O.C flavour with its sun baked drawl and crawl. Frankenbok are a great example of a band that easily captures their ferocious live sound well on record, and this rips! Look out for a full length album soon.
