This is from my stepson: Toyota of Lewisville - beware! Here is the review I posted on google and Toyota -
I came in for an express lube oil change, engine air filter replacement and cabin air filter replacement. When my vehicle was returned to me, I heard a loud rumble from the engine, approaching the exit to the dealership parking lot. Apparently the service tech didn't hear this before he returned my vehicle to me. I took the car back in, popped the hood and showed the service director that my oil filler cap was sitting on the intake instead of capped onto the engine, with oil spilled onto my engine. They put the cap back on, cleaned off the engine and returned my car. As I drove off the lot, I continued to hear the loud rumble as the engine sounded like it was wheezing & sucking in air, and a plastic buzzing / grinding / vibration upon acceleration. I took the service manager for a drive and he confirmed my observations. They took my car back in. Hours later, it turns out, the tech hadn't put on the engine air filter back on correctly, as the buzzing was from the filter (put on only half way) vibrating plastic on plastic, under the hood. In summary, I was charged $85 for parts & labor for the engine air filter and cabin filter (excluding oil change), intense aggravation, several hours lost of my valuable work time, and a crap job on what is a very simple and basic routine service. When my car was returned to me the 3rd time, it appeared to be okay. I am hoping there was no engine damage from this dealership mistreatment of my vehicle. At the very least, if there was any desire for building customer relationships, they would have offered me my money back to compensate for this mess (I did ask for this and was denied). I am extremely disappointed and terrified of the express lube operation. This is entirely unacceptable for high-priced dealership service.

I recently got an 80gb Ipod and have been spending the last week ripping my CD collection to load it up. I've found some real gems that I haven't listened to in years - about twelve Joni Mitchell CDs ("Court and Spark", "Mingus", "Hissing of Summer Lawns", "Hejira", etc.), a few from Sting ("Soul Cages","Ten Summoners Tales", "Nothing Like the Sun" - check out Hiram Bullock's guitar solo on Little Wing!), and even some Beatles that I haven't checked out lately. On the jazz side, I've just gotten to the stack of Joe Pass CDs that need to be ripped and I put on "For Django" from 1964. Wow! How could this one be in my collection and not be in the rotation? This is a great CD and I know every note by heart. It's one that I listened to constantly in high school. I recommend it to anyone that's interested in great jazz guitar. Just wonderful!

I've had the Benny for a couple of weeks now and it's been out to several gigs with me - solo, duo, trio and big band. It more than works for all of them. I love the way it sounds. You've got that rich, warm tone of an archtop without the bulk with a little added sustain. Every note comes out clean and clear (through the right amp) and chord melody sounds crystal clear with it. At first I was having a little bit of a problem negotiating the slightly larger neck but I'm getting used to it little by little. I still feel more comfortable playing fast single string lines on my Schaefer but I think I'll get to the point shortly where that won't be an issue anymore. This is a great instrument and I'm happy I made the trade.

I'm about to make another trade for a guitar. I've had a 2002 Wes Montgomery model L-5 for about a year now and it doesn't get out much. It is just too big for me. Lately I've been playing Telecaster-type guitars and my headless Schaefer for most of my gigs and teaching. For the first time in months I took the Sadowsky Jimmy Bruno out on a gig this week and really loved it. That's a whole other story... Anyway, the L-5 is probably going to be replaced with a Benedetto Benny which I'm hoping will be a good all-around axe for me. It's Benedetto's chambered/solid body, kind of a cross between a Les Paul and a 335 but it has that Benedetto jazz sound, among other sonic possibilities. I'm anxious to try it out. To be continued...

Current mood: refreshed
I'm getting ready to head out to another solo guitar gig. I'm enjoying doing that and it has meant many more opportunities for me that weren't there before. I've had a pretty good past two months and it has been playing solo guitar most of the time. However, I do enjoy playing with other people also. It's enlivening to be able to feed off of other musicians and feel their energy in the music also. I'm hoping that I'll have more opportunities to do that, especially with the Sam Walker Trio (whoever that is), in the coming year. I still do hope to get another CD recorded within the next few months. It will get done, God willing, and I'll put any developments up here as it progresses.

Played solo guitar tonight in McKinney and was fortunate to have some freinds in the audience. It was enlivening and encouraging to have people appreciate what you're doing and it really helped me to get into it. I used to think I was above needing an audience's approval to play well but if no one seems to be paying attention my mind gets the upper hand and I begin to doubt what I'm doing. This is especially the case when I'm playing solo. I am extra sensitive in that situation. I can no longer honestly say that I'm playing for myself and if someone else digs it that's great. More accurate is that I do need to be appreciated in order to play my best. I guess that means I need to cater more to what an audience wants to hear... should I begin playing more pop tunes? How far does it go?
I'll continue to ponder this in the next few days.
You may notice that the picture on the profile has changed. The future of the Sam Walker Trio in it's current incarnation is a bit in doubt at present. I'll let you know as it develops.

We talked over the past week a little more about the next CD and it looks like we'll try to record in August sometime. We're going to go ahead and book the time and that will give a deadline for me to come up with some more tunes. I will devote more time to writing knowing that there is the session coming up. Also, we talked a bit about what instrumentation we will use on the CD; that also will affect how I write. We're planning to do more original tunes on this CD. I'm anxious to try out some new stuff.

I played solo guitar tonight at Kalachandji's restaurant, the vegetarian restaurant at the Hare Krishna temple in Dallas. I always enjoy it and would like to be able to play there more often. I will try to make that happen. Playing solo is a good outlet for me; I can try out new stuff and take chances that I might not take with the trio. Tonight I played "Tangerine" at a faster tempo than I'm really comfortable just to see if I could do it. It came out OK. I also like to experiment with the RC-20 Loop Station, layering lines on top of each other.
Also played a wedding reception this afternoon with a quartet. It was a good group. The music was a good mix of jazz standards and a few pop things towards the end. Busy day!
Added 6-14-07: It's starting to get warmer and may soon be too hot to play much at Kalachandji's. I have been playing once or twice a week for over a month and really enjoy it.

We are beginning to consider recording the second CD of the Sam Walker Trio. Right now, it is only a thought. We have yet to select or write new music, talk to possible guest artists to play on our CD (although there has been some discussion about that - maybe piano this time around), or set a date to go into the studio. I am hoping it happens sometime this summer while we all have a little more time to devote to it. I will try to post something regularly about the progress of things here to keep you updated. For now, we are thinking, next is feeling and then willing...
