Denver, CO – This month, as part of Mystery Cabal's mission to provide "an alternative environment for established artists to present projects that transcend the constraints of conventional music venues, ACTION FRIEND and THE FUTURE IS BROKEN will perform improvisational sets as part of the Soundscapes presented by Mystery Cabal series.

The goal of "Intersections" is to put rock bands in a forum and setting to explore a musical texture less traveled in the dive bars, clubs, and theaters – free improvisation. During "intersections," these rock acts throw the convention and restraints of songwriting away to create something wholly new and spontaneous.

See two of Denver's cutting-edge rock acts, ACTION FRIEND and newcomer THE FUTURE IS BROKEN appear on Sunday, January 27th at Object + Thought Gallery, 3559 Larimer St, Denver. Doors are at 6 p.m., show starts at 7 p.m. There is a $5 suggested contribution at the door.

Soundscapes Presented by Mystery Cabal is a new series for experimental music, sound installations, and audio/visual works hosted by Object + Thought. The series provides installation space and performance opportunities to emerging artists, composers, and performers, as well as an alternative environment for established artists to present projects that transcend the constraints of conventional music venues. What a great show! For those of you who missed it, TFIB's debut performance this past Saturday went really well. The crowd response was great, especially since none of us can even describe our music. I heard comparisons ranging from early Yes to Stereolab, Devo, Iron Maiden, and Sabbath. What kind of mess is that (a fun one!)? There was even a little bit of entertaining heckling regarding "to synth or not to synth". According to the official scorecard, it was Rhia = 1, crowd = 0. I sure showed that guy!

Monique- thanks for having us on the bill for Girls Rock Denver! The show was a blast!!!! We liked playing the Lion's Lair. It's a chill little club.

Alan, Gunnar, Andrew, Sara - thanks to you all for coming to the show and for bringing friends with you!!!! Jason, please thank your CC bandmates again for coming out. They all seemed to have a good time at the show, and i was glad they did.

Music as well as new pics (courtesy of Sara - thanks!) can be found on our myspace page!

Our next show is January 27th at the Object + Thought gallery just north of downtown. We'll be doing an all-improv set with Action Friend and others...stay tuned for more details!

Then, we have a gig at Herman's Hideaway on Weds. Feb 13th! More details TBA.

Thanks again & have a great holiday season everyone.
