Current mood:  awake
i admit it has been quite awhile since ive given an update, or even bother to login. for those who actually care, i am sorry.

so.. why have i abandoned all communications with those who are interested in my music?
to go back to the drawing board and focus on making the music. to be honest, until i feel like i have made the best possible album i can, i cant bother with anything that will neccessarily further it. weird i know, but just the way i do things. one step at a time.

the songwriting for the album has been coming along great... ive had the pleasure of working with a couple awesome songwriters, as well has developing my own writing. i feel awful about how long it has taken to release an album, but me and the label are doing our best to work towards an awesome album.

the album is slated for a release sometime relatively early next year, and then i can finally get on the road.. and ill be bringing an awesome live show with me.

also, as the process keeps moving along and we get closer to the release, ill be putting up more updates and sneak peaks into whats going on.

as for now, ive gotta go get whats left of the sun today..

be well

so i went on a trip to india. stopped in the city shanghai for a while. shanghai was a fast, hectic, and buzzing city. so many damn people. everywhere. such a contrast to toronto. no, canada. shanghai was still pretty cold tho. pretty much, people in shanghai havent really been exposed to all that much western music culture in depth. theyve only sang kareoke (for the msot part) to well known popular songs by countless great artists, songwriters, and performers. they only know the songs, without knowing anything about the person who wrote it/sang it. i did some small shows over there, and most of them just hadnt seen music performed right in front of them the way we do it here. it was weird but great. i played lola and 30 of these chinese people start singing along, but they get up and start moving, and yelling a bit, then throwing their arms around, and really letting go. i feel liek theyve got so much room to have more fun. they just need to be led along a bit. anwyyas, shanghai is awesome in my books. india. india was a crazy experience. when i got there, i noticed that everyone drives really really fast, and really really wreckless. pretty fun i have to admit. they also like to pass on the inside there not the outside, any hired driver in india is comparable to a nascar driver. i was in a smaller city on the east coast of india that was not exactly what i had pictured india to be. i had plans to go to rishikesh but they were foiled becasue of the terrorist attacks. we were now only meant to be in this one city madras for the whole trip. i saw a lot of this city, was shocked by the amount of garbage that was everywhere. and how cows jsut trudge around everywhere untouched. really odd. spent a little time in pond di cherry which was a beach town that used to be a french colony. had a lot of spiritual ashrams and wandering gurus. roaming monkeys too. that was cool. it was astonishing how different india was. just a different mentality i think. a lot of the time i found myself frustrated by the all the differences. but all in all, it was a great trip that sparked a lot of creativity in me. for any of you planning to go to india in the future, i recommend goa. thats where its at, i missed out. if you made it here congratulations to your reading skills. and thanks. much more to come about whats going on with the upcoming album. until then, peace be with you. -mookie

so i threw two new songs up... they were recorded pretty spontaneously with some familyfriends. id say these are in the direction im in.. but it could really go anywhere at the moment. hopefully these could make it onto the album, but would most likely be a lot different.. in a good way that is. also, let me emphasize the roughness of these demos... live off the floor with a shitty mic in the middle of the room. guitar bass drums and vocals. as bare and minimal as it can possibly be. haha. so with that.. try to imagine what more these will be in a month or so. thanks for reading and stay tuned! there are more demos that will be up shortly!

amazingly my blog has chosen to work tonight! i apologize for my seeming disappearance for the past 2 months.. i have isolated myself and have been writing tons of songs. some good news is that i am definately recording an ALBUM in the new year. hoenstly, a dream come true. not to sound cheesy or anythng, but fuck yah. exucse my language. i dont know if im allowed to say who the album will be under yet so when i find that out, i will let everyone know.... im happy to say that ive been in a good headspace since the idol trip... it basically came out of nowhere and swooped my entire life up,,, spun it around a couple times,,, fed me teasers of fame and the highlife,,, then tossed me back down,,,, but in a better place than iwas before. thankfully. im still blown away by how ive ended where i am. thank you to everybody who has stuck around and is reading this still... i know it can be very annoying for me to have the same damn songs on my mysapce for so long. haha. btu, i am in the process of recording a demo.. which i hopefully can put up asap. thanks again for the continuous support. keep posted!-mookie.
