!Globalquerque! and New Mexico Jazz Workshop present Salsa Under the Stars with José Conde y Ola Fresca Friday, August 14 8:00 PM Albuquerque Museum Amphitheater 2000 Mountain Road NW Albuquerque, NM
Tickets from $12 to $15 Available at ¡Globalquerque!
Ola Fresca means "fresh wave." Founded in 2000 by singer-composer-lyricist and arranger José Conde, Ola Fresca features some of the best musicians in New York City, coming together for a fresh take on rootsy, funky, jazzy, Latin dance music. Born in Chicago and raised in Miami by his Cuban-immigrant parents, Conde has been living in New York since earning a BA from Berklee College of Music in 1997. After experimenting with jazz, rock, funk, blues and latin music in his first couple of years in New York, Conde realized his musical journey was leading him back to his Cuban roots. He formed Ola Fresca in 2000 with a clear goal to write new, original music based on the foundation of traditional, Cuban rhythms and style, while incorporating non-traditional elements for spice.

For Immediate Release Jade Leyva¡Globalquerque! 2009Festival Poster Artist ¡Globalquerque! is thrilled to announce our selection for the festival's 2009 Official Poster Artist: Jade Leyva
Jade is finishing up a beautiful new work specifically created for the ¡Globalquerque! 2009 official festival image. The painting will be used for the festival poster, program guide and more.
Jade Leyva is a painter, photographer and mixed-media artist who was born in México City and now makes her home in Nuevo Mexico. Jade grew up among a family of artists and has been painting since she can remember. After attending ¡Globalquerque! 2008, Jade was inspired to create a painting entitled "One Song". The painting, like most of her work, embraces the natural world and culture(s), utilizing bold colors and textures.
In talking about the inspiration for her piece Jade reflected that "there is a universal language, a beautiful expression that naturally unifies people from all over the world and knows no boundaries.... That espression is music."
To check out a selection of Jade's stunning works please visit: www.jadeleyva.com
The full, completed image of "One Song" will be up on the ¡Globalquerque! site soon. www.globalquerque.com
Jade joins past ¡Gloabalquerque! artists Suzanne Sbarge (2006), Santiago Pérez (2007) and Theresa Laferriere (2008). ¡Globalquerque! is committed to supporting New Mexican visual artists of all disciplines through our annual artist poster selection.
