Howdy Friends,
I'm playing in Tuscaloosa, Alabama this Friday night (June 5th) at a historic old venue called Brown's Corner.  It's a landmark in downtown Tuscaloosa (built in 1920) and it's located on the corner of University Blvd. and Greensboro Ave.  Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and showtime is 8:30 to 10:30 p.m.  So, if you live in the area c'mon down and say hello.  If you don't live there but have friends in the area, I hope you'll send'em my way because it's going to a fun night...I'll be singing songs from my new album, "Donald Trump's Hair" plus all your favorites like "Show Up Naked, Bring Beer!"  Tickets are $12 per person or $20 per couple so, cuddle up with someone, it's cheaper!

Dorothy went off to see the wizard. And on Thursday I'm off to see the Queen. The Sweet Potato Queen, that is. It's hard to believe this will be the 9th year I've journeyed to Jackson, MS to sing for thousands of wild women decked out in tiaras, tutus, majorette boots, and feather boas. On second thought, it's not really THAT hard to believe...my wardrobe includes ALL those items, on account of you can take the girl out of the Shameless Hussy but you can't take the Shameless Hussy out of the girl.

I look forward to seeing all my fellow Queens (along with their Spud Stud hubbys and boyfriends)at the Ball on Friday night at Hal & Mal's in downtown Jackson. If YOU are looking for something FUN to do this weekend, get yourself a tiara and c'mon down to Jackson, MS and march in our Parade on Saturday. We've got the 3rd largest St. Paddy's Day Parade in the U.S...and one of the only ones you can actually BE in! Read all about it at www.sweetpotatoqueens.com I'll be singing songs from my brand new album, "Donald Trump's Hair" plus all the favorite SPQ songs like, "Never Wear Panties to a Party."  So c'mon down and leave yer knickers at home, 'cuz we're fixin' to Par-tay!

As the song goes, "...give me a tender Tennessee Christmas." That's what I'm enjoying today. Great food, great weather, and great friends. I've so much to be thankful for. And I am. I make a point of saying the word out loud every morning before my feet hit the ground. The word is "Thanks."
Thanks for the food and shelter, for the beautiful day, the friendships, and the music. I love playing my guitar and as Paul Simon sang in his song, "I thank the Lord for my fingers." Yeah, fingers! I know there are a lot of things wrong with the world, but right now I'm grateful, and lucky, to be thinking about the things that are right with it. So, here's hoping gratitude is contagious.

Merry Christmas everyone, and may 2009 bring you joy, inspiration, love, laughter, vitality, and peace of mind.

So...I about typed my fingers off last night trying to post a bulletin.  Actually, I DID post a bulletin but, when it finally posted it ended up looking like a huge, long, tedious turd.  So, I'm going the blog route tonight.  Been a long time since I've blogged...and it's been even longer since I've played in E. TN and North Carolina so, just in case you're in the neighborhood:  I'm in Knoxville tomorrow night, 5//7/08, performing on the Writer's Block Concert Series which takes place at the Knoxville Museum of Art (downtown).  Showtime: 6:30.  Cover: $8.00.  At 10 p.m. tomorrow night (after the Writer's Block show) I'll be LIVE on WDVX Radio (Clinton, TN) with host, Karen Reynolds.  But wait, there's more....

On Thursday, 5/8/08, at 12:30 p.m. I'll be LIVE on WETS Radio in Johnson City to promote my Thursday night show at The Down Home.  Show starts at The Down Home at 8 p.m. and cover is: $10.00.  The next morning (Friday, May 9th) I head for Balsam, North Carolina, about 35 mins. west of Asheville.  I'm playing at the Balsam Mtn. Inn from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.  This is a beatiful venue. Check it out at www.BalsamInn.com   I'm looking forward to seeing all my friends in Asheville.

Heads-up Huntsville, Alabama...I'm headed your way the weekend of May 23rd and 24th.  I'm at the VonBraun Center Playhouse on the 23rd, and at the world famous Kaffeeklatsch Bar on May 24th.  For details, please visit the 'calendar' page at www.KaceyJones.com   Hope to see you somewhere along the parade route.  Till then, keep on the sunny side.

Insouciantly Yours,

WE MADE IT!  YIPPEEE!  THANK YOU!

Greetings Friends,

Well, it took us TWENTY weeks but, today we finally landed "Lie to Me Darlin' " on the Music Row Chart at #68!  And, just in time for the Mickey Newbury Memorial Gathering which takes place this weekend in Austin.  I'm delighted to be able to take this good news with me and share it with Mickey's friends, fans, and family, especially Miss Mamie...Mickey's beautiful 87-year-old mama.  I can't wait to see those sparkly eyes of hers light up when I tell her the news...that's the stuff that makes life worth living!  And, in case you're wondering...yes, I realize that #68 ain't "Top 40" but for me, and for Mickey Newbury, it's a wonderful little slice of success...and it tastes real good!

We'll be jammin' in Austin this weekend...hope to see you there!

Love to all,

Kacey

Dear Friends,

I've been in Augusta, GA for the past two weekends, performing with the hilarious new play, "Nipples to the Wind."  I opened each show with a LIVE performance of "How Do You Like These Babies Now?" The audiences in Augusta have been great and The Imperial Theatre is a beautiful, historic building.  James Brown used to rehearse his band there.  In fact, I had the same dressing room that James used to have there.  It definitely had an effect on me...Hit me, baby, on the good foot!  Say it loud! I'm a soulful honky and I'm proud!

This coming weekend (June 29th - July 1st) I'll be changing gears again (just part of my bi-polar career) gearing up for the Mickey Newbury Memorial Gathering in Austin, Texas.  We have more performers than ever scheduled to perform this year, and more people attending The Gathering  than ever before.  I perform Saturday night at 7 p.m. with Waylon Payne. The event takes place at The Howard Johnson's Hotel in Austin (details are on the "calendar" page of my website at www.KaceyJones.com).  So, if you're a Newbury fan, or if you know someone who is, c'mon down and join us.  With a little luck, I'll be bringing my fellow Newbury fans some good news on Friday. "Lie to Me Darlin'" is the current single from my CD, "Kacey Jones Sings Mickey Newbury."  As I write this, the single is #78 on the Music Row extended chart.  With a few more spins we should land "in print" this week on the Music Row Chart (at least #75) so...do me a favor and envision my next blog as the one that let's you know that WE MADE IT...as in, Lie to Me Darlin'" made it onto the Music Row Chart! My sincere thanks, in advance, to those Music Row reporting stations that helped us get there.

If you live in Galveston, Texas, consider this fair warning that "Nipples to the Wind" is coming to your neighborhood, July 27, 28, and 29th.  I'll be with them and I hope you get the chance to come see us.  It's the most fun you can have with your clothes on!

Love to All,

Kacey
