oh, wow.

where have you been? we missed you.

i haven't written here in over a year. shit.

music took a back seat to life. music took a trunk to the back seat. but i feel it coming. like the morning after.

i've started writing again. and we still play shows. once in a while. maybe we should make it twice or thrice in a while.

just wanted to touch base. let you know that we're still here.

and despite everything, we're gonna make it.

just dropping a quick note. hope it catches and picks you up.

expect something big.

and then expect to be surprised.

last night's show was phenom.

we didn't have the crowd that we usually have at the garage, but we finally saw what a next step show should look like.  sweat, blood and nakedness.  dude nakedness.

we danced (almost) to our heart's content, and i think we were all better people after it was done.

a shout out to the max to the garage, and one staff member in particular (sorry, we didn't get your name!), who touched our hearts the most when she said: "you just make me so happy."

we'll be there making people happy next saturday, too.

see you on august 2nd, peeps.

much love, and much sugar.

...the way we're double-heading.

we've got two shows at the garage this week: one tonight (july 26th) and one next saturday (aug. 2nd).

also, we may or may not be working on new songs.  maybe.

also, we may or may not think "the dark knight" is one of the best movies of all time.

we want to thank driver f, kingsley and atombender for a fun, if sparsely attended show.  we invite them back anytime.  but i think we should avoid the shady warehouse known as the showcase skatepark.  because it was, by all accounts, shadier than an oak tree.

okay, then.  if you're not too busy watching the "hannah montana" movie tonight, you should stop by the garage.  if you are too busy, then visit us next week, same place, same time.

see you tonight.  and next week.

we've got not one, but two shows next week!

the first is at showcase skatepark in rogers at, like, 7 p.m.  the address is:

Showcase Indoor Skatepark/Venue
20401 County Rd 81
Rogers, MN 55374

it should be a grand old time, with a couple of touring bands that sound pretty darn tootin' good:

atombender (www.myspace.com/atombender)
driver f (www.myspace.com/driverf)
kingsley (www.myspace.com/kingsleytx)

then, after that, we be making our long-awaited return to the garage in burnsville on july 26th at 6 p.m.  if you don't where the garage is, google map it.  google map is the best.  (true that?)  double true.

we killed it at the uptown last week, and it's put us in fighting form for these upcoming shows.

bring a cold towel.

i keep almost working on the new album. i keep finding reasons to not, some legit (working on other sleeping kitty projects), some not (i watched five movies yesterday thanks to my new addiction, redbox). ah, well. i think i'm just scared to dive in and tackle another album. especially one called "life & death." but a kid's gotta do what a kid's gotta do. d mobile.

the kids are back on the block, but they ain't new. we'll be back on the block this summer, too. i'm in talks for a number of summer shows, so call your friends on your hamburger phone and get the blog out there. i can't wait to fire up the grill and crack open a dozen beers. maybe while we're roasting our weenies we'll write you a couple of new songs... d mobile.

holla.

i saw tony yesterday for the first time in a long time. he looks as sexy as i remember. maybe sexier. i think he's been working out.

evidently, he's back in minnesota, so...

you know...

we can work on this music junk and junk.

i have about five or six songs in different stages. i'm really excited to close this chapter of my life - i've been working on the streetlight diaries since 2005, and to be able to move on will be fantastic. don't get me wrong - these are the best songs i've ever written, and i love them all like noisy children. i'm just ready to take things on an album by album basis.

for shiz.

though having something i've had to complete has definitely kept me motivated.

whatevs.

the thursday night nbc line-up is back, and i couldn't be more excited.

seriously. excited.

oh, pick up panic's new album pretty. odd.

it's pretty. fantastic.

okay. back to work. check you on the flip side.

goodness gracious.

it's been a while, huh?

i've been very busy and internet-less.  actually, the lack of internet has caused my productivity to soar.

slowly but surely, we're writing the songs that will become "life & death."  i don't want to hype it up.  yet.  but be prepared for another booty-shaking release party and (hopefully) a string of spring and summer shows.

in other sleeping kitty news, production is far along on "the program," the television series i started working on last summer.  we had our first read-though on february 5th, and it was fantastic.  to read more about "the program," check out the sleeping kitty myspace page at:

 www.myspace.com/sleepingkittyproductions

...or check out our top friends.

we miss everyone.  new (and old) music is on the way.  i promise.  i think we just need a little break to recharge the old batteries.  it's been about a year since tony joined the band, and it's been a whirlwind of "do this" and "do that."  it's been a nice change of pace.

but we are itching for more.

talk to you soon.

happy new year, peeps.

and what a good note to start it on.

the next step, with black dog road productions, is presenting the first episode of "wired." you can learn more about black dog road productions and their kickass show at their myspace:

www.myspace.com/blackdogroadproductions

from their blog, i copied and pasted the dates, times and locations of the airings:

"Here are listings of when and where you can watch 'Wired.' Stay tuned for more listings to be added when made available. Will post here.

If you live in the following areas, you can see 'Wired' on one of the dates listed below:

North/East St. Paul area: Birchwood, Dellwood, Grant, Lake Elmo, Mahtomedi, Maplewood, North Saint Paul, Oakdale, Vadnais Heights, White Bear Lake, White Bear Township and Willernie.

January 3rd, 11 pm; January 4th, 10 pm; January 7th, Midnight

Channel: 15"

so there you go. tune in and pump up.

i also want to thank everyone who came out to the garage show. i think you'll agree it was one of the most exciting shows we've ever played, though we had to cut the set short by a song (sorry, people who love "clean break!").

i think we were pretty fair with how we sold our merch, considering i acccepted such currency as chipotle burrito coins (mmm!) and robot dances (ooh!). ha ha. we love you wild and crazy kids.

we also have to formally introduce the dude who rocked the bass for half the show: new nick. we're going to call him new nick until someone can think of a better nickname. nick name. i am the pun king. anyway, he proved to be a fuckstorm behind the bass, giving our resident guitarist tony someone to jump up and down with, besides my pretty bottom, of course. which we shake all night long. not because we want to, but because the music makes us. and by "fuckstorm," i mean he makes it rain fuck. it's beautiful, like a sunrise.

work is slow right now on the new album, but it will be out sometime this year. we've released one album a year since "something old, something new" in 2005, and we have no intention to let our fans down this year. all three of you.

it'll be weird to get "life & death" done, because it'll signify the end of the streetlight diaries, something i've been working on for years. it's exciting, like the end of high school, kind of. speaking of, don't be surprised if you see a hometown show or two this year.

whoa, this blog got huge. and that's what she said.

if you're a dennis fan, you'll have plenty to smile about this year. if you're a dennis hater, you'll have plenty to bitch about.

this spring, we're filming the first season of my t.v. show, "the program." check out sleeping kitty production's myspace for behind the scenes blogs and photos and other fun shit like that.

depending on how that goes and how successful it is, i hope to film my first full-length movie, the musical "bubbles."

we're also working on graphic novels, a possible second season of "ribbon & cord," and more comedy sketches like "nighttime monster."

plus, a little album called "life & death" by your 16th favorite band, the next step.

after this blog, i need a nap.

speaking of, kitty sleeps, like, 27 hours a day. also, he built a time machine so he can sleep more than 24 hours in one day. he's a lazy genius.

okay. enough. jeopardy's on.

answer: 2008.

what will be the bestest year ever?

correct. and that was a daily double, bitch.
