Well, most of the stuff I'm doing this month has passed. All the tracking with nathan Halpern and work with pepo Ginsberg is wrapped up. Plus the basics for the new Model Barbers album are done. And a weekend of shudder to think shows. So now I somehow find myself on my way to jfk to catch a flight to san francisco. My scooter's there waiting for me. I'll keep you updated.

Here's all the news:

Strange Weather is moving to a new, far superior space right next door to the Bunker run by my good friends John Davis and Aaron Nevezie. The new space will have three isolation rooms, private kitchen and bath, and a lounge (well, a lounge that doubles as an iso booth). The move takes place at the end of Sept. In anticipation of the move there have been a few gear purchases. You can check out the site here.

This week I record drums with Nathan Halpern, previously of the Flesh, track and mix three songs with Pepi Ginsberg, and arrange and then track a whole new album with my band .."http://myspace.com/modelbarbers">Model Barbers.

Immediately following all that work I fly to Chicago and then Portland guitar teching for Shudder to Think on their current reunion tour (more dates to come!).

And then the next day I fly to San Francisco to set off on my cross country scooter trip with Joel Hamilton. You can read all about it here and even donate to the charities we're riding for (the Scotty Hard Trust and Future of Music dot Org)

When I get back I track the new Smile From Tokyo album with my great friend and genius musician Timothy Walton Nelson. Hopefully we'll find someone to pay attention to it because I'm sure it's gonna be amazing.

Then I move. And stuff.

PS I have a girlfriend now. She's really cute. Deal with it.

Love

Current mood:  accomplished
The new Jolie Holland record is being mastered this week, and on top of having tracked quite a bit of material for it one of my mixes is on the record. I think that means I win at life. Maybe I should quit while I'm ahead and become a farmer or something.

Booked a bunch more dates to finish the Charming Hostess record over at Strange Weather. It's gonna be a good one.

Red Ox have pushed back their upcoming recording dates due to their drummer breaking an arm. I haven't gotten the details yet, but I'd predict they have something to do with sweet, sweet boozery. So now I have to wait even longer for those guys to rock my pants off. Upside: I don't have to work on the 4th of July!

In the studio with Trevor Dunn, Hilmar Jensson and Ches Smith right now working on Trevor's new album. It's looking pretty amazing so far.

Basically life rules for the moment and I'm rubbing it in. Enjoy.

Life is madness.

Strange Weather is finally off the ground and running. Tony Maimone and Jeff Zeigler both recently did sessions there and I've been working there a ton.

Starting this saturday I get to go through the madness of working at four different studios in four days.

Saturday tracking Jolie Holland with Jim White (Dirty Three, Cat Power) and Shahzad Ismaily (Two Foot Yard, Ceramic Dog) at Matt Wells' manhattan studio One East Recording.

Sunday is working n Bob D'Haene's new record at Studio G.

Monday I'm with Dan Blacksberg, Evan Lipson, and Cat Hernandez at The Bunker, and

Tuesday I'm back at Strange Weather working on the mixes for the new Jolie Holland album.

Luckily wednesday I fly to florida for two nights to sit on the beach with my girl Liz.

Also coming up: Trevor Dunn, Red Ox, Satanized, and finally mixing the Charming Hostess album!

As you can imagine I don't have too much free time. But call me anyway. I'll make some.

I said something nice about them and they put it on their site.

EarCandy Sovereign 1x12 Bass Cab

Scroll to the bottom. Apparently they’re putting my picture up with it. Humor. Anyway their cabinets are freaking amazing. They just spoiled the hell out of me.

Side note: Model Barbers first show, May 2nd at Annex. Violence.

Suddenly, thanks to the one and only Shahzad Ismaily, I find myself tracking the new Jolie Holland record. I recorded her, Marc Ribot and Kenny Wolleson today.

It was a very, very good day.

Anyway she’s doing a residency at Union Pool in april. If you’re in new york you should go. She’s totally amazing.

Now for the sleep.

And the new website is up:

Strange Weather Brooklyn

Dig it

Also: I got the chance to do sound for the 2 Foot Yard record release show last night at Joe's Pub in New York. God damnit does that band rule. If you don't know you should.

I'm bookin some shit son.

First off: Next week I'm tracking the drums for Angel Deradoorian's solo project, which I don't believe has a name other than maybe Deradoorian. Which, looking at it right now, is a pretty awesome name. Go with it.

That's quickly followed by tracking for the new Charming Hostess record. If you don't know them it's because you're on the east coast, but they've been a staple of the san fransisco scene since the late 90's. I believe that's where three of the members of Sleepytime Gorilla Museum actually met, or at least started playing together. Anyway Jewlia is amazing and I'm extremely excited to be doing a record with her, as well as with my friends Shahzad Ismaily, Ches Smith and Marika Hughes.

Third on the agenda is Red Ox, who I spoke to today and hopefully will be doing a record with in mid April. Philadelphia Punk. Going back to my roots for a second. Fuck. Yes.

And finally there are dates on the calendar for the long awaited and highly anticipated Baseball Rules album! Tim Nelson is a sappy son of a bitch, but he's a sappy son of a bitch who knows how to rock. Damnit. And the boy's got soul.

In other news Strange Weather is about to open its doors (for the third time, but this time for real!). Everything's been delivered but the new console and it should be fully operational by late next week. Which means expect more model barbers material, as well as illuminea covers project songs. And new Dark Room tunes. And hell, if I have five seconds in my life somewhere I'm gonna spend em there anyway, so lets make up some other bands (Housewives and Hard Drives anyone??)

Get Wready.

After a two year hiatus, it's nearly time for the grand reopening of Strange Weather!

The new facility is located in Greenpoint, Brooklyn (at the corner of Humbolt and Norman st's) and is affiliated with Studio G, Brooklyn where I work currently. We should be opening as early as Feb 1st.

The new gear list includes:

API 1608 16 channel console
Pro Tools HD3 with Apogee converters
4 Channels of Neve 33609 compression
Vintage Gates Sta-Level compressor
2 Channels of Neve 33114 Pre/EQ's (same pre's as a 1081)
Neumann U47
Neumann M49
Neumann M269 (broadcast version of the U67)

Plus a ton of other awesome, awesome crap.

Feel free to call me up to check it out any time after the 1st!

In other news, I'm headed out to San Francisco in about two weeks to spend a couple days at Tiny Telephone Recording working on the third and already most epic Book of Knots album.

Imaginary Johnny is revving up for an early March album release by playing a bunch of shows in NYC.

And I'm officially a member of JC's ridiculously awesome power-rock trio Dark Room. We should be pulling our act together and playing shows all over the eastern seaboard very soon.

I'll keep you updated.
