If you'd like to come to our show Tuesday at St. Elizabeth's Hospital (a mental health facility in DC) please email us your full name and the name of any friends who may come so that we can give it to security and you can get in ok. I'll be posting the specifics of where exactly the show is as soon as we get all the details.

***Update: Here's where to go if you want to come on Tuesday. Please don't bring cameras/video cameras since they are not allowed at St. Elizabeths.

2700 Martin Luther King Jr. SE
John Howard Pavilion
WDC, 20032

There should be parking available out front but if not, there is an overflow lot near the metro gate.  Which brings me to: Green line - Congress Heights stop.  Follow the signs to "Buses and Parking" (left out of the turnstiles)- take the escalator and walk straight across the parking lot to the hospital's gate.  Turn right on the main road (there's all kinds of construction going on at the moment so it's more like a left then a right) and follow it to JHP (big institutional brick building just past the new hospital construction site).

Check in at the security window. There will be staff available to escort guests to the site.

Having a blast on tour. Here's a pic from a hike we went on this morning. Getting ready to post some more.

It is with tremendous sadness that I have to report our dear friend Clark Sabine lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday, June 16th. I first met Clark at a Motorcycle Wars show at Kansas Street House in 2002 or so where he dove on the floor, grabbed my leg, and sang at my shoe. Quite an introduction! Years later he volunteered to play bass with me in the Andalusians. He played with us for a year before tapering off to focus on Statehood.

Everyone who knows Clark has a Clark story. He was a truly incredible person who was caring, creative, hilarious, intelligent, genuine, talented, and charismatic right up to the end. I feel very fortunate to have had a chance to get to know him. He was one of a kind, and I know I'm not alone in saying that he is deeply and sorely missed. We love you, Clarky!

I posted all the songs he played on with us so people can hear his work. Please also check out his main band, Statehood. He was recording for a new record with them from his hospice bed, and they are planning on honoring his request that the record be released.

Here's what he played on with us:

Religion/Turn Off/Single Fantasy: Bass

Do the Work: Backing vocals

Demo of I Don't Know: Drums. This one's a personal favorite. I had such a good time recording it with him. I didn't even know he could play drums, but when I started showing him the bass line he sat down and started kicking a beat. I had been pretty depressed earlier in the day, but after a couple hours joking around with him and writing music together I left feeling totally happy. He really had that effect on people. I'm  sure I'm not the only person who had a big crush on him. It's ok. Rebecca knows ;).

Thanks so much to everyone who made our tour go above and beyond all of our expectations! We played night after night of well organized and well attended shows, stayed with lovely people in clean homes, ate delicious and often home-cooked meals, and even had time to see some state parks and hang out on the beach with friends. What more could you ask for?

Thanks so much to our friends who set up the shows- we were blown away by the amount of care that was put into them. And thanks to everyone who watched us play, bought a 7", gave us a friendly word, or gave us a place to sleep. We were overwhelmed by your graciousness.

We had such a great time that we've already started planning the next one. We're looking to play up the east coast this summer and to do a full US tour in the fall. If you or someone you know would be interested in helping us with a show please let us know.

We're in Atlanta tonight, a little less than half way through tour. Things have been going amazingly so far. The shows have been really good, we've met some lovely people and gotten to reconnect with beloved friends. We've also been eating really well, and have gotten to spend time at the beach and walking around state parks in Florida. I met two of my long term goals- seeing a live wild alligator and a live wild armadillo! We also got to see a bunch of manatees, dolphins, a bald eagle, and a variety of crazy looking birds we don't have in the DC area. Yes, we are nerds, and things like that make us really happy.

Many thanks to all of the wonderful people who have been making this tour such a good time!

We're pleased to announce that our first release, a 3-song 7" with a free digital download of those 3 songs plus 3 extra tracks (6 songs total) was just released on Dischord Records. You can buy the 7" or just the digital tracks or listen to a teaser of the songs here:

http://www.dischord.com/release/162/do-the-work

This thing was a labor of love. Not to mention the recording itself, just the artwork took hours of designing the cover, measuring and cutting 500 record sleeves, feeding them by hand through an inkjet printer (with the help of my super supportive mom and dad) and then, with the help of my co-workers at Dischord, numbering them, folding them, stickering them, stuffing them into sleeves and throwing in a download card. All the work was worth it though. I'm thrilled with how they look and how they sound, and am especially happy that they're ready just in time for our tour.

I'm really excited to announce that we will be putting out a 7" on Dischord Records. It should be available by early February. I posted one of the songs, "Do the Work," although it's not mastered yet. There are 3 songs on the 7" and it will come with a download card for those songs plus 3 more.

We're planning a tour for February and I'm realizing that after a couple of years of not touring I no longer have many contacts. If anyone is able to help with a show or give a tip on good places to play or people to play with please let me know.

Thanks!
