The Emergenza Music Festival is an annual event which takes place in several countries around the world. New York is one of the event venues and several hundred bands sign up to show off their talent. The Festival is run as a contest where bands compete against each other for the number one place and for a chance to tour places in Europe during the summer.

There are 4 rounds, and bands are eliminated at each round based on crowd response.

This year it just turned out that many of the bands are rock bands or heavy metal bands. However every genre is encouraged and the band must be independent.

The festival is very well run by a staff of trained professionals who co ordinate the thousands of individuals who participate in this Global event.

I participated on March 14th with my new band which I call M.I.C. We played as the 4th participant in the show. After a fast paced and high energy 25 minute set we gave up the stage to the next and last band for the night.

Fontana's Bar was alive on Saturday night with music and fans. Check out the Pics
The event went well and Athenia and MIC will participate in the second round of this festival.

The next event takes place at The Bitter End, 147 Bleeker Street in Greenwich Village in New York City. Athenia and her band is expected to take the stage at 8:30 pm. For more details and to purchase tickets online please visit www.atheniahenderson.com

Current mood:  anxious
This weekend taking photos was the main event. On Saturday , with wardrobe, make up and most importantly, shoes, all packed, I headed down to Philly, Pa, to have some on location shots taken. It was a new experience for me as it was the first time that I had done a photo shoot on location, (locations I might add) . My make up was expertly done by Ingrid Monique. There was one professional photographer (Vidal) ,but several amateurs circling the block to take their own shots. We would be on a seemingly empty street only to find a traffic jam building up the minute we started shooting. Needless to say it was an adventure. And after shooting for 5 hours it became a long adventure. I had fun and would not pass up a chance to do it again.

On Sunday I was off to do some studio shots. There were less spectators there and that made the job slightly easier. My make up artist (Tatiana Saldarriaga) completed her artistry in about 90 minutes. While photographer Jose Freeman took the shots in just under 3 hours with me surviving 3 wardrobe changes. It is always fun to work in the studio where one can be very creative with the poses.

All things going well I will have an up load by the weekend. I will keep you all posted.

I want to take the chance to say thanks to all of you for the support you offer to me. I could not do this without your love .
Thank you

t has been while and I have been very busy. Recording an album can
take a lot of one's time.

The song titled ' A song in my head' is done now. It has a booming
club vibe to it and though it reminds every one that I am caribbean
it also shouts PoP and DaNcE!!!

I will soon be uploading it to all my favourite websites including:

Myspace

Soundclick

My website

Cd Baby (coming soon)

'A song in my head' will be made available for purchase in about 2
weeks. It will be 99c per download or if you prefer to purchase the
cd of this single you can get it for $2.25 for 3 mixes.

I also plan to have a few competitions and games based on this
song. All with the chance to win cash and or prizes.

Be sure to check out the news page for more information.

Today I am so excited . I am in the middle of producing my first albulm and this is a lot of fun for me. It is very hard as an indie artist starting out on her own in a strange country. But I am not the first and will not be amongst the last set of folks to do this.

If any one has tips or are able to offer assistance to someone ( me) who is totally ignorant about the music business, write me a line or send me an email.

Thanks
