Day 2

Well i have to admit I had forgotten how hungry you feel on the first couple of days of a detox. I know that my cells are being nourished as I am consuming 5 juices a day and it s the equivalent of a lot of fruit and veg.

I know this is something you get past after 3 or 4 days but spending time sitting in an office today hasn't really helped as all around me were smells of delicious foods being consumed.
I look forward to the time in a couple of days time when the food I will start to crave will be fruit, veg and salad.
Trust me this really does happen. At the moment though all the horrid bugs, bacteria and toxins in my system and crying out for crappy food, - sugars, simple carbohydrates, saturated fats. All the things that nourish them but sadly not me.

It helps to visualise these mites crawling around in your blood stream when you start to crave sugar and junk food as it stops the craving pretty fast when you realise who it is actually for!!

The benefits of a detox are many but for me the reduction of appetite and wish for simple healthful foods is the most important. Stopping for 7 days to rest your body and remind it what it really wants and needs rather than the rubbish it falsely craves is a great way to halt any poor eating habits that if left unchecked will allow the spectre of weight gain back into my life.

AS a continued commitment to my own health and the health and well being of people stuck in a cycle of yo yo dieting, food addictions and poor self esteem January sees the launch of my new "Guided Detox" Service.

Here clients will be given an 7 day juice only diet followed by a 2 week transitional period to solid foods. I will give them a wealth of information and resources the guide them through the process and, most importantly , will coach them through any emotional cleansing that occurs through the detox.

Detoxing is a great way to cleanse your mind and spirit as well as your body. Staying clear of solid food for 7 days allows you to eliminate food addictions whilst giving you the opportunity to look at your old, negative food habits.

Most people eat when they are not physically hungry, to avoid things, to reward or punish themselves, comfort themselves, out of boredom and many more. Quietly observing the times when your mind craves food [even though your physical body is nourished and therefore not hungry] will be a revelation to most people and the start of lasting change in their relationship with food.

As the guided detox is carried out online, via email and through some phone coaching, wherever you are in the world I am able to support , encourage and be there for you.
Together with my new ebook - The 7 Secrets to Successful WeightLoss [the 1st chapter can be downloaded free at www.dietfree-forever.com] I would like to offer people a friendly guiding hand through the journey to a healthier you in mind and spirit as well as body.

Still - I'm not all done myself so in order to be an authentic leader I am going through the cleanse process myself and wanted to chart the highs and lows of my journey through this blog. I hope it serves to help others and , at the very least it will serve as a great signpost for me to reflect back on as I continue my own journey to perfect inner beauty and health.

Day One -
i started on Sunday to give us all the chance to get into the swing of things and organised before having to do the whole "make-a-load-of-juices-and-put-them-in-flasks " kerfuffle a day at work demands.
Well I 'll be honest my healthy eating slipped a little over the xmas period and the went into freefall the past week. It was almost as if all the junk food in the world knew I would be detoxing so sent out little messengers to my body and brain to crave them all one last time before I got myself clean again..
I've had my lemon and hot water firs thing to cleanse out the system and kickstart the metabolism. and am on juice 3 even though really i should be on juice 4 by now so the day isn't quite going to plan. I have felt a little hungry most of the day. I know though, that this isn't real physical hunger as
1 - People survive for 3 - 4 months without food so a few hours since that last yoghurt and bowl of soup isn't really going to cut it in the "I'm starving" stakes.
2 - I've had 3 juices that have fed my cells with more nutrition that they have probably enjoyed on the past week.
I know it is mental and emotional hunger and no amount of food can satisfy that. Instead I have spent the day, putting more resources for my fellow detoxes on the internet group, writing this blog and putting the final touches to my book.
As a result I feel far more nourished than anything a piece of toast, packet of crisps or chocolate bar might give me.

Tomorrow will the another test - surviving a day at work with people eating and making cups of tea ll around me. Still I managed it with tremendous aplomb when I last did a 30 day detox and I worked in a coffee shop at the time.

This , in comparison, should be a cake walk - or rather not........
