Well, it has been a LONG time coming. I have finally released SOMETHING. To show SOME sign of life, I decided to release some tunage. Here is the Story.

Well, the last year and a half has been pretty crazy. It feels like its own era, you know? It is really crazy when I look back on it all. A lifetime seems to have passed.

But I never stopped making music. I made LOTS of music. I just never finished most of it. And the stuff I did finish, I was never satisfied with, so I threw it to the side or just kept redoing it and redoing it.

Suffice it to say, I have gads of tunes that just need a little nudge, and they will be done.

So, it took me a real long time, but I convinced myself (along with the support of Stan Koshowski, the drummer) that I NEED to release something. So I decided to just wing it.

I am now more determined than ever to release new songs. Even if they are REALLY rough. I realized it came to a point where nothing was good enough for me to release. But that gets me nowhere.

So yeah, I am now releasing some songs, even if they are rough. I think it will be better to just get them out there. It will help me be more determined and inspired to finish them, and others.

SO, here is the story of the songs I uploaded.

Farewells Don't Farewell

This is the most recent of the songs. I just made it this past week. I decided to try something rather experimental, I enjoy where it is going. Lyrically the song was inspired by a few things. Certain experiences and observations I have had in the past year. I guess the same could be said for all the songs I upload.

Silhouettes

This song was made well over a year ago. lol!! Yes, that is quite some time ago. This is exactly the way it was over a year ago. Actually, it has been like a year and a half. Crazy. But yeah, this song is in the works to be redone and completed, but I wanted to put the original out there. Just for fun. It is a good song.

As the Rest of Me Dies.

To be honest, I am not even sure when this one was made. I think it was in January of this year. Not too sure though. lol!
AH! I just looked up the music folder for the song, and yes, it was January 24 2009.
Anyway, not much to say about this one. Also in a demo stage. But I love the song and I have lots to do on it.

Lyrically, the song came from a bunch of stuff that sucked. You know, life, and all that.
But, yeah, that is the way things work out sometimes. I wanted to make a song that conveyed, or rather, understood, what depression feels like. Sometimes it feels like a constant state of dying, without actually doing so.

But I have found that God can really turn stuff like that around. In many of my songs, it touches on being alone, depression, sadness, desperation, loss, feeling useless.  Stuff that plagues all of us, whether we admit it or not.

Someone once told me that, 'how you deal with a situation, such as something that causes you great pain, shows people who you really are. How you deal, can effect how others deal.'  Or something to that affect, but in more words.

I think the purpose I have in making a lot of my songs is to perhaps show someone how to deal. How to get through the times that suck bad. Cuz there is more to life that God has given us.
I think this is probably the most important thing I could do.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the tunes. I will be gone for a couple weeks to counsel at Sagemace Bible camp. My 9th year counseling! Crazy.

Anyway, talk to you all later.

Well here is the status update.

The songs will be a while yet. Mainly due to some factors that have delayed my will to finish them at this time. Stan, Arafax's soon to be actual and whole drummer (he has been a member since forever but now he has the stuff to help me make music! I am not alone! Hurray!) is catching up on the intricacies of my music making software. He is a fast learner so hopefully he will be helping me pump out some face rawking tunes soon.

I am in the process of getting a new mic (a condenser mic for recording vocals and acoustic guitar) which I have decided is necessary for me to continue on with my songs. So that is the main reason for the new song delay. Until I get that, no new tunes will be released. So lets hope I get it soon! The Shure SM58 mic I have is awesome, but not meant for recording, I want something that is a step up.

The other thing is a MIDI keyboard. I gave mine to Stan so he can plink around with Reason 4 and stuff. So I need a new one. That will be in about a month. But I want to get my mic before that, so I can get on with the tunes I have the music done for.

So yes, that is the status. Not a BAD thing, just sometimes progress takes more time than I would like. Things are looking up though. For the first time in a long time.

But even so, I still am working on the vocals on various songs, which is great, but I am treating them as demo recordings rather than a 'final' product for my songs. So at least when I get the new mic I have a bunch of songs ready to dish out.

Next time I blog, I hope to have a new tune out.

Yes, I have a few new songs coming very soon. I finished a song yesterday, and I finished 2 today so far. Oh, and those are all new songs. I just started them too, so not like they are old stuff being refurbished or something. lol! Yes, the creativity is flowing. Which is good and bad. But yes. New songs!

I have a list of the songs I am working on, and what their status is. Expect a lot of dark and ethereal tunes. I smell an EP coming up......

Shiver in Moonlight

This song is dark, sad, and ethereal (I will be using those words a lot in this blog so suck it up!). It is such a beautiful tune. Just beautiful. It is guitar based mostly, with a lot of effects. Very simple. But synths, strings, and piano make their way into the mix bolstering the haunting vibe of the tune. This is going to be one of the best, if the vocals turn out right. I started and finished this tune today, musically.

The Thin Veil

Another dark tune, but with a tad more upbeat vibe to it. Hard to explain really. It has much more guitars, a little bit more rocking, but with a definite dark vibe to it. I have no idea how this one will turn out vocally, but I have a good feeling about it. I also started and finished this song today, musically.

Never Before, Never Again

This tune I started and finished yesterday, musically. I am also almost done the lyrics and the melody is all figured out for the vocals, so it is just a matter of getting the lyrics done then recording the vocals. This is a sad song, but wonderful. It has an ethereal vibe to it, but not too much. It is mainly just a slow song.

This Sky Of Crimson

Is a rocker from start to finish (or it will be!). Pure intensity. I don't know how it will turn out exactly, but so far it is rocking. I want to make it my most intense tune, which is hard for me actually. But yes, this is the tune I want to scream in. Lots. Oh yeah. But lots of singing too. Well, the song has a LONG way to go anyway before I even GET to working on the vocal melodies and styles. So we will see.

As Hollow

This tune is an epic rocker. The verse are filled with strings, synths and all that good stuff to give the song a sad and epic vibe. The chorus blasts in the heavy guitars accompanied by the arrangment of strings and stuff. It is quite awesome! The song itself is not done yet, with the bridge to go yet. Then I will work on the vocal melody and lyrics and stuff. If this tune turns out right, it will be something wicked awesome!

So yes, that is what is happening lately. Crazy. Yep.

Yeah, I totally didn't expect to release the vocal version of 'Latitude'. But I did, and that is that! It is still rough and the lyrics make no sense in some parts. lol! But I will get to that in due time. I just felt like releasing it! So I did!

I see no reason why I shouldn't! lol!

Anyway, I am not posting the lyrics cuz they will change. So no point in posting nonsense!

I do hope you enjoy it though! It changed a lot from what it originally was. But that is ok. It will change even more later perhaps. But I have more tunage on the way that will take up my time!

I hope to release some rock tunes soon. Depends on how well they go. I really want to do some screaming.......

Anyway! That is all for now!

Man! What a pain! lol! Long story. But let me just say that everything that could go wrong went wrong on Saturday. lol! Files were missing (which wasn't so bad), programs were not opening, programs were not opening their own files, soundcard drivers were wonky, I was hungry, hardware was not being recognized, hardwares software was not being recognized, sound files were corrupt, sound files were damaged, Blu Ray still hasn't lost, stubbing your toe when it is cold is the worst, music software's volume would not stay at the same place I put it but instead decides to go on a wonderful up/down ride to see how much my hearing can stand extreme quiets to extreme loud. Gah!

But against all odds, I finished the song as best as I could! Yay! I didn't finish the other tunes, but at this point I am not too concerned. But I did work on them! They are very close to being done. Vocals just need to be completed and they are finished.

So yeah, files were damaged and stuff, don't know how or why. The bridge that Ben recorded vocals for were completely destroyed, so I just did the bridge vocals myself! lol! (scary, yes I know)

I want to thank Ben SO much for recording vocals for this song. He was so enthused right from the beginning, and that made me even more excited! It was a great time that I hope happens again.

Please check out Ben's solo stuff, Awaiting Autumn, and the label we are on, Democratic Records.

I have some crazy new stuff on the way, that I hope I will get some quality vocal time on. Then they are done! Some intense stuff. Man!

Anyway, take care.

Oh yeah! i have some new songs on the way for this weekend! The ideal number is 3 new songs. If it all works out as planned.

Let's break down what is in the oven:

Suffer As We Grow

This is the rock tune featuring the vocal talents of Ben MacKenzie. I have encountered a fair share of software issues regarding this song in particular. Main reason for it taking so long to get released! (sorry Ben!)

But this song will be released this weekend. Man, it better be! I just have some tweaking to go, but man, the software is just being dumb with this tune! I have no clue why.

Musically this tune is a rock tune, but with a slightly softer edge to it.

Within/Without (Time vs Latitude)

This tune I expect will be one of my fav tunes I have created. Stylistically, it is a more mid tempo song with a heavy ethereal/emotionally deep vibe to it. I made this song musically to just bring out emotions of longing, hopes and dreams, doubts, and sorrows, and the fear of what the future can be.

I hope to reflect some of that lyrically in some way. We will see. I will be working on this one intently in the next few days. I just started this one this week as well. Musically it is pretty much done, except for the drums. Lyrics and vocals will be my prime focus on this one, and I think they will turn out awesome. Man, I can't wait to share this song with everyone. I don't know if the vocals will do it any justice, but musically I just love this tune!

Faint

This is another rock tune, but with a more anthematic quality. This song is upbeat and has a few alternative rock influences. It is quite different from anything I have done before, if all goes well! I have some parts of the song that are being redone, and the lyrics are having a tough time getting beefed up with something worthwhile! lol!

But I am excited about this tune. Just for its bold rock essence and straightforward presence. If this turns out the way it seems to be, then it will be wicked awesome!

So yeah! That is the summary of what I hope will end up being done this weekend! I will release them as soon as they are done. So not necessarily all at the same time. I will post them here on my myspace first! Although I will eventually put them on my Soundclick.com page so they can ride the charts! At that time I would encourage everyone to go there and listen to them repeatedly! lol! I will let you know when that time comes. It will be awesome.

So yeah, until then............

Well, it has been a while since I have posted a blog. So at the rather strong insistence that I do so, by a certain friend, I am here now posting one!

Here is the update:

-tons of new tunes on the way

-new song called 'Suffer As We Grow' features the vocal talents of former vocalist of The Emendation, Ben Mackenzie. His current project is his solo effort, Awaiting Autumn. Check him out here: http://www.myspace.com/awaitingautumnmusic1
The song will be released whenever I finish mixing it and adding some more bgv's. No definite release date for it yet.

-A couple new tunes on the way are quite epic. I am not gonna tell too much about them other than the fact that they are so ridiculously epic and wicked awesome, it blows my mind! Yes, I am biased, yet I am also quite critical. I don't know when these tunes will be complete.

-I have a bunch of acoustic songs that are in the process too. Some of them fall under the previously stated 'epic' tunes. I am finally making real progress on these, both musically, lyrically and vocally.

So, that is the mini update for now. I will have WAY more news to give when I have some new music ready to roll out. In the mean time I think I will post one or two older tunes on my page, just cuz.

Talk to you later.

Yes, I have a new song nearing completion. Called 'Draw Me In (Seraph Somnium)'.

As of writing this I have not come up with much of a vocal melody yet, so I will release an instrumental version first sometime in the nearish future. When I fully complete the song I will work a lot on the melody and lyrics. I have some ideas swirling in the back of my mind. I think it will be great.

This song combines an epic rock vibe, with the ethereal presence of strings and synths permeating everything. Acoustic is prevalent as well, giving the song a much more human vibe amidst the other-worldly synths.

I have many songs coming down the pipe that are like this. Haunt rock. We will see how they turn out. If they turn out that way at all!

Ok, I finished 'Passing By'. It is done and up. Listen to it a billion times or something.

It is WAY different than anything I have ever made. Like I said in my other blog, very synth/string based. A bunch of piano too. I really hope you all like it. I really tried to do something artisitic with this one. I think I pulled it off. Enjoy!

I am afraid to do vocals for this tune now because I love the instrumental so much, but we will see in a week and a half how I feel.

I am almost done a new song called 'Passing By'. It is a song about forgiveness. It comes from the batch of 'synth/string' based tunes that I mentioned that I was working on. It is a slow tune, but it is pure art. Or so I think anyway!

I love how it is turning out. The song itself is done, I just need to do some mixing and maybe add a string here, a piano or synth there. But essentially its done. Musically anyway.

I might release it tomorrow (Sunday) sometime if I finish it. As an instrumental. I have been doing the lyrics and vocals today as well. I have almost finished the lyrics, with just the bridge to work out.

Vocally it seemed to go alright. I just have been having problems mixing them in. But I have made some discoveries through my vast amounts of trial and error. I don't think I will complete anything vocally until middle of the week after this week. So, in about a week and a half. I hope.

But I am pretty stoked how well the vocal process in general did go for this song. It was fairly smooth. I somehow knew exactly what I wanted to do, and I somehow actually did it. Main issue is the mixing and trying to get the vocals to be more full sounding. Tough, tough, tough.

Hmmmm......what else......oh I still have some more crazy tunes coming down the pipe. But I have not determined if I will release them as intrumentals or just wait till I get the vocals down for them. But that could take a long while.

Oh we will see how I feel.

Oh, I am going to a MuteMath concert next week! If there was a smiley face for being stoked it would go right here ---->      !!!!
