Yes, I know...it has been snowing all afternoon and it isn't really Spring yet. But, I totally needed to go through all my files from 2007 and purge (or scan). I can't believe how much paperwork I collected at home in the past year. The office looks like a copier vomited all over the place. There are piles everywhere. It really is embarassing. But, it has been a learning experience. This year, I am going to try to set aside time once a month to scan the previous months documents. That way, I get rid of them sooner AND I don't have to spend an entire day next January trying to sort through everything.

Alright...I think the entire Triangle area is completely freaked by the threat of winter weather after the debacle in January 2005. If you lived here, you will never forget...hours and hours on the road, stranded due to about 1" of snow that turned to ice and gridlocked the entire city.
For me, it was a miserable 10 hours getting to Abby's daycare and home. And, after that, I am a little wary when they forecast winter weather. We had a forecast for some "stuff" this morning, but it ended up being somewhat of a false alarm. It flurried in Raleigh for about 45 minutes and quickly changed over to rain, all before 6am. No worries for the drive in. But, since the entire area is afraid of what could happen, most schools and daycares are on a 2-hour delay this morning. Honestly, I would rather not take vacation time from work for this, but I think it's better to be safe than sorry.
I'm sure I will hear quite a few people complaining today, "They shouldn't have delayed school for a little rain," "Why can't they [the meteorologists] get it right?" and so on. Personally, I would love it if every forecast for winter weather was exactly right, but we don't live in a utopia and that will never happen. So, for all you who just like to bitch about everything, find some duct tape and apply over your mouth. Everyone has to adjust. That's part of life.
Consequently, Abby has enjoyed the extra time this morning. She was able to play some games on the computer (scary thought...my 3-year-old mastering her computer skills) and is now watching a promotional DVD from WDW. The kid has already been and can't wait to go back. Oh, to be a kid again!

In discussing an upcoming retirement "party" for a co-worker, I commented that I must have worked at "The Farm" for too long...since I actually know people who are retiring.
Later in the discussion, I made some comment about being there until I retire...which is jokingly assumed by myself and my friends. But, the response I got made me think..."But I don't think you're truly happy or satisfied here. You're just comfortable. Once your personal life settles down, you'll probably find that you are less comfortable than you thought."
I never thought about it that way...but he may be right.

I don't think I hold grudges out of the norm...if you piss me off once, I get annoyed, but give you plenty more chances to do the same. Sometimes, too many.
The key part of that...I get annoyed...and peeved, frustrated, etc. I think learning to deal with things in my (married) life differently may also be helping me in other areas. A co-worker said some things to me today that would have normally upset me...not just annoyed, peeved, frustrated...but actually upset me. But, for some reason, it didn't bother me so much. I talked about it with a friend, got it out there, and now I can move on.
That may seem insignificant, but for years, I would keep stuff like that inside and it would cause me to second guess myself and call into question too many things.
Quack, quack!

Yep, God definitely knew I needed to have a good day. Not only did the day start off well, but it continues to be pleasant...with lots of humor:
I got a run in my hose and I couldn't find anyone with clear nail polish. The worst part...I had to pee really bad, but I wanted to wait so I didn't make the run worse.
At lunch, I sat with friends that I haven't spent time with in a while...and it was great. I literally laughed the entire time. It reminded me how fun our old team used to be at work.
I got a huge laugh...when a co-worker confided in me his impression of another co-worker. It was so far from reality, but absolutely hilarious!
I could go on and on, but I won't.

1) Last night, on the way home, I noticed that traffic going the other direction was stopped and backed up quite a ways. I pointed it out to Abby. Only an innocent 3 year old would reply, "Yep. Mom, they are so pretty." If only the rest of us could apply that logic when stuck in traffic
2) Mike sent me some mail that I received this morning. It was pictures from last Christmas and around Valentine's Day of this year. Honestly, I didn't want any of them, but I appreciate the fact that he sent them to me, letting me decide. I did decide to keep one of them from Valentine's...as a reminder of how much weight I have lost.
3) This week has been very hurried. It hasn't been bad, but it also hasn't been one of the best either. I guess God knew I needed a little pick-me-up this morning. When I was getting ready for work...and noticing my limited choices because I haven't washed clothes since Saturday...I saw an old skirt that I bought over 7 years ago (I know this because I bought it right before I started working at NCFB...in March 2000). Truth be told, I haven't been able to wear that skirt in almost that long. Since most of my other skirts are just too big now and need tailoring, I tried the old one on. I couldn't believe it. It fit...well! I was so happy. That's the way to start the day off!!!
