The MCA presents, as part of their UBS 12 x 12 New Artist/New Work series:

Triptych (2009)
"Haptic and Lisa Slodki have created a self-sustaining installation that fuses sound and image. VCRs play looped black and white images on three small monitors. On the first monitor a young woman, staring at her own reflection in a mirror, seems enchanted and entranced as she reaches out and touches the surface of the glass. On the second monitor a looping, pulsating ring of light recalls the flickering of a film projection. These first two images are superimposed on the third monitor. The result is a mysterious synthesis of images: when the woman reaches out to touch her reflection in the glass, the flickering ring of light appears, as though conjured by her gesture. In addition to the visual component of the installation, a number of small contact microphones capture, amplify and transmit the sounds of the video equipment throughout the gallery, creating an immersive environment that draws attention to the mechanical process by which the work is made."

In addition, we will perform in the gallery every Tuesday in November (10th, 17th, 24th) @ 7PM. These concerts are all ages and free of charge (Tuesday is the museum's free day).
