xReflectx have been turning heads since their first show and the three-song demo they brought with them. The band shot to the top of the local Salt Lake City hardcore scene and even gained some international recognition selling the demo to people all the way from Japan. With its first full-length album, The Hourglass End, the band shows they are just getting started and haven’t even tapped into their full potential. Songs such as “1:11 a.m.” bend an already established genre in a new direction and vocalist Mike Turley has a style all his own. The emotion and raw honesty in “The Abandoned” only scratches the surface of what the five members of xReflectx might be capable of in the near future. If you’re looking for the future of Salt Lake City hardcore, this is the band to watch.

Almost 2 years since the formation of the band, release of our demo and first show on May 6th 2007, spending the month of November recording with the wonderful Andy Patterson who helped us in so many ways with his patience and prospect we were pleased with the outcome, i myself doing the artwork and layout which was extremely aggravating because i had no knowledge of what i was doing or getting myself into finally finished the day needed for cd duplication, Joe Jackson putting his trust and money into helping us release this cd by the new label he had just randomly decided to start Skinned Elbow Records and every single past and present member of this band that put so much work into what we have done together as a band we are very proud to announce our first full length album now officially available as of December 6th 2008, with some of the songs now online your able to see what is in store for you. 6 new songs and 3 re-recorded songs from our self titled demo you have, 'The Hourglass End'...

Thank you to everyone who has ever bought a demo, a shirt, listened to a song, spread word of our music, set up a show, the bands that we've played with, a scene that has always given us support as a band and members of this community, and everyone that still goes to shows and starts bands and puts so much heart into what we have. You are the reason why we do this and for that reason alone is enough to be eternally grateful.

This year reflect is planning on taking the band a few steps forward. first off we would like to announce as hard as it is to do Zach our bassist and long time friend has decided to part ways with the band being as money has gotten tight and family duties to attend, we all love Zach very much and hope the best for him and his new family. Zach's last shows with the band will be on March 27th in Harrisville and the 28th in Reno Nevada.



So that does mean we are currently looking for a new bassist. although we have had a few people say they can already and we are still considering them highly but we would also like to be open to others that would be interested.

Also in other news our good friend Allen Viscara (guitarist of Gather) has a hardcore fanzine called What We Have that we have a featured interview in the next issue of that is slated for a mid-March release, so add them and order some issue's the new upcoming issue is also featuring bands like Chokehold, europe's own Anchor, and Restrained!



Last we are trying to finish writing some material that we are hoping to take to the studio within the next couple months that we will be using for a split cd we have planned to release through Double X Crossed Records and the other band that will be featured on the split release with us will be The Separation (containing members of Set It Straight) we are all very excited to be working with both double crossed and the separation for this release and are hoping everything will end up turning out well.

I think that about wraps up our plans for now at least from what i can remember? but due summer i know we are hoping to get a tour figured out for maybe a week or two in there somewhere probably on the west coast but i appreciate all of you that are still there for us and come to see us play. and if anybody can help us find a steady venue to play shows so we can start booking some touring bands to play salt lake write us and let me know and i'll see what i can do. again thank you everyone.

Salt Lake hardcore bands have always held close to their roots. The pop-culture slap of the "hardcore" label on the cheeks of leather-panted metalheads and mascara-wearing emo kids alike might have overshadowed the passion and conviction of hardcore's heritage in the mainstream, but not in the land of Zion.

The strongest evidence of this dedication to tradition is Reflect: five kids who were in elementary school when bands such as Unbroken, Snapcase and 108 championed the conviction-fueled hardcore that their demo manages to reproduce masterfully. Reflect's unrelenting breakdowns, despair-fueled screams and passionate drug-free ethics hearken to a time when hardcore was still hard and you couldn't buy straightedge apparel at Hot Topic.

If Reflect's Demo is any indication of the sound of hardcore to come, metalheads and emo-nerds beware.
