Of late, a limited amount has come from this site regarding Reality Bytes and my part in it. For a long time now I have been talking about new soaps as against the existing ones. If this genre is going to move ahead there needs to be an infusion of new ideas that can take the genre of Daytime to the next level and maybe further. Moving around the Web I constantly see new ideas and concepts being discussed and tried out. I feel lucky to have been part of Daytimes Golden Era and to have made a contribution. But I also want to see soaps evolve and move ahead of where they are now. I also want to be apart of this new wave and hopefully contribute again.

Tristan Announces New project in Development:  Reality Bytes

RB is the brain child of writer and web designer Kate Lang, who watched the golden era of General Hospital and followed its rich history for many years.  She stated that RB is "a direct result of my exposure to this hilarious, exasperating, and sometimes ludicrous world that surrounds daytime dramas."  Six months ago, she literally dreamed up the story and presented it to Tristan who thought it worthy of his attention.  "I forget how she originally presented this to me" Tristan said, "but the idea was a balanced look at what goes on behind the scenes of a soap.  It endeavored to address many of the elements that are overlooked today and have always been part of the soap tradition.  I felt it was a good place to start, and so it evolved."

Seems along time ago I put forward the idea of doing something regarding a pay per view Web site. And yes, I have mentioned this on random occasions. Well, (drum roll) it is just a stone’s throw away from happening. In fact Saturday night is the witching hour.

If you doubt this reach out and touch your computer and feel the warmth of my sincerity as I tell you, “It’s really going to happen”.

What’s this site all about? I can’t really answer that because I don’t really know. I mean something like this 20 years ago would have been unheard of. Personally, I would never have even thought about it. But in this time it’s different. Reality Television has broken down any doors pertaining to privacy and what they didn’t the tabloid press did. But is it a bad thing?
That all depends on you the individual. I think it could be fun. Without doubt we get to see a different side of the personality in question. We get to prove to the public, “Hey, we don’t need a script to be able to speak. We can walk and chew gum just like anyone else”.

This site allows me talk about stuff that mostly passes for trivia. It’s that everyday information that we just take for granted but accounts for most of our time. It’s just me doing my thing with the kids, the friends, the animals and what I get up to when I relax. You might wonder how someone relaxes when everything you are doing is being filmed? It’s easy. I had a good rehearsal when we did the “Backstage Pass” series on NightShift 2. I had a great time and all of the sequences we did were done at times when the event’s we were talking about had just happened. It was as close to “real” Reality as you could get.

However, the difference here is that you the viewer will have an opportunity to shape the direction of what I will be doing. How? By telling me through blogs. There is a provision for this and I expect you to use it.

There is also going to be some giveaways in a competition but this is going to be detailed separately.

And now for something else. I will be doing a play together with John Reilly, Judith Chapman and some others who are as yet not confirmed. The play is called “You Can’t Take it With You” and is quite well known. It has been made into a film on more than one occasion and will probably be filmed on the night. All proceeds go to the Palm Springs High School theater group who are next year performing in Scotland in a theatrical festival. Oh, and my daughter will be in the play as well, marking the first time we have performed together. This is going to be great and I will talk about it extensively over the coming weeks.

Much has been written about Gloria Monty’s contribution to the soap opera world and the significant part she played. With the genre now forcing pay cuts and reduction in work days on all cast members, not to mention the imminent cancellation of all the soaps period, what might the state of the industry be, had Gloria done what she had been hired to do, and nothing more?

General Hospital first went to air in 1963. Never a top rating series the show more or less languished along until for some reason it was decided in the late 70’s that the series should be cancelled. Enter Gloria Monty whose sole job it was to prepare the show for termination and nothing else. What happened after is well documented. But what if GH had been cancelled?

I was working out at the gym today when my attention moved to one of the numerous television monitors dangling from the ceiling. Playing, was a video of Michael Jackson performing “Thriller”. I was totally absorbed by this as were many other people in the gym. When it ended I turned to no one in particular and said, ”You forget how good he really was till you look at this and are reminded”.

And so it is that in Michael Jackson’s passing we have lost a “monstrous talent” whose influence was prodigious. The weight this man brought to bare has been in some cases forgotten, but by his death we are once again reminded that the change he inspired will continue in the popular music field for years to come.

During one of his frequent trips to the Palm Beach, Florida area, Tristan teamed up again with friend and producer Aaron Wells to shoot a pilot for the Discovery Channel.

Green Magazine TV discusses the advances in science and technology, and the companies making those advancements, all in the commitment to living a "greener" life here on Planet Earth.

Shot in one day, after a long night out (the day after hosting the WTC event) with just a few minutes to read over the script, this was the pilot filmed.   So sit back, enjoy, and be sure to let Tristan know what you think.

You all know my feelings for the Opportunity Knocks project. It was fun to do and 3 years later the project still stands up as a very doable Web formatted series. It's on my "to do list".
But what I am bringing to your attention here is quite different. Aaron Wells, the projects producer/director/writer, has cancer. When this was told to me, well, you suddenly realize how fragile your hold on good health is. It also reminds me why I get involved in projects like "Stand Up To Cancer".
Anyway, this signed poster is being put up on E-Bay to raise funds for his treatment. I urge you all to support this auction. Anyone who is not familiar with Aaron's work can tune in to tr.com and look at the full version of OK.
Recently I did a small pilot for a magazine show in Palm Beach that Aaron also produced and directed. That will also be posted shortly.
Working with Aaron has always been a delight. He and I both "connect" through trust, something I have found quite rare in my experience. This man has made a significant contribution to the video process and I for one look forward to working with him on many more projects.
Please support this auction.

I am very excited that I can finally post this for all. This is one of those things you do that are special. I still feel this is something that has some "weight" out there. All the elements worked and they still do. I have not given up on this, I just feel it is something in the wings waiting to happen.
By letting everyone have access to it maybe this will strike a chord in someone.
This was a simple project with a simple message. To ENTERTAIN. You have heard this before from me. Even on the Web it is still my mantra.

I really look forward to hearing comments and discussion on this project.
It is not your "soap" type material but WTF, it sure was fun too shoot and connect with all the people are are still close to me today.

We shot this in one afternoon. It was all planned and away we went.
I have my own ideas as to how this could be continued, but I want to hear from you.

Actually it would be nice to hear from someone who had never posted before, because this has nothing to do with my past.
