Progress on the record has been steady and deliberate. Eight songs have layered guitar arrangements and we are now taking passes at the lead vocals. Brad made a few elusive appearances and played various percussion like tambourine, shakers and clay drum.
Dreaming up orchestral arrangements is something entirely new to me and has become a new musical passion. Songs are starting to receive synth treatments as well to create atmosphere and fill in the gaps. Tinkering with u-he Zebra has been a blast.
There it is... a bunch of cold factoids.

A french illustrator that goes by TANXXX is working on artwork for posters and t-shirts. I can't express the intensity of the manic zing I'm getting over this right now. Judging by her past work it's all going to look obscenely great (some bands she has worked with include Rancid, King Khan & The Shrines, Girls Against Boys). See the poster come together here.

The first recording session for kaleidoscopes into infinity went down mid-august. I was joined by the talents of Bradford Helner (ti-shee-taa) and Josh Zalev (uhhhhgg-hmmm-bb).
Producer Mark Planke figured we would lay down two or three bed tracks that day. We managed four. Then Brad laid on the hardwood floor and hid his face from the world, aided by his trusty hat. I nearly got misty when Neil Patrick Harris graced the television screen and acheived cameo appearance godhead.
As the next date approaches (please materialize soon), I'm turning pure geek-boy with the thought of pasting a sea of dubs over the live takes.

I just ordered the crystal castles vs. health 7" from trouble records and the crystal castles // health split 7" (yes, they are different) from love pump united.
I'm late to the game. It's exciting to think of a needle grazing the surface of a freshly pressed record in a convenient but sterile digital era.
What do you think about the idea of a limited edition 7" from mannequins breathe? It could include... -demos -b-sides -live versions -acoustic versions -avant garde freakouts -remixes of songs by other artists
Demos for example would be different versions of songs from the upcoming full length album, kaleidoscopes into infinity.
Please comment here and share your thoughts about the 7" proposition. I'll only go ahead with it if I see enough interest.

Current mood: peaceful
As much as I love writing, I'm a music fan more than anything. Every day I'm expanding my palette by discovering new music. A decent bit of auditioning is done on myspace.
I've received some amazing comments from fans and sent some back since I currently have the luxury of doing so.
Thanks for listening.
As a little side note, here are some daringly innovative bands I found thanks to myspace music. -pre -health -yip-yip -dandi wind -white denim -crystal castles -koenjihyakkei -the usaisamonster -fake shark - real zombie!
I'm fascinated by renegade record labels. -merok -skin graft -one three g -lovepump united

Current mood: content
I watched a documentary about Kate Bush the other night on youtube and I was reminded of the time I listened to Kate Bush almost exclusively for nearly a month. She creates such a lush, inviting world with her music that's easy to get sucked into. You are left at the gateway to the world of Kate until you find a particular track so accessible that you're baffled why you didn't get it before. I haven't heard anything quite as tear jerking and inspiring as Wuthering Heights. The fact it came from a 19 year old artist boggles my mind. The session players on the track did everything right so it also serves as a reminder to be surrounded with great talent, trust them, and hurry up and take the leap. After a bit of a hiatus from writing and recording, I'm feeling the muse once again thanks to some recent positive changes in my life and the plethora of amazing artists that make me want to jump out of my seat and jam. The last few days have been amazingly fruitful and I now have a new demo song nearing completion called "High Powers Fall". Best of all, it's my most ambitious song to date. I hope I can inspire some people like Kate did me.
