So, looking ahead to the next game against the Flyers, we are joined by Philadelphia Inquirer beat writer Sam Carchidi, who breaks down this year's Flyers squad, how they match up against the Kings and Philadelphia's hopes for the postseason. We talk about a wide variety of topics, including the Winter Classic, whether or not it's fair to tag the "Broad Street Bullies" moniker on this young Philly squad, and his thoughts on the upcoming Olympic games. It's a great conversation with an esteemed member of the East Coast media, and it's an interesting listen.

We debut a new opening theme song, written exclusively for us by Dan Regan, aka DJ Black Casper, from the ska punk band Reel Big Fish. Can you guess what inspired it? It took me a while, but I got it. We also have the usual assortment of accoutrement: Hockeywood Headlines, King of the Week and free pie to the first 200 people.

Don't forget, you can subscribe on iTunes. So sit back and enjoy the current edition of the Hockeywood Insider. Side effects may include tremors, shivering, muscle stiffness or twitching. See a doctor if you don't have any.

The latest edition of the Hockeywood Insider has us all pumped up about Doughty. And rightfully so. DD is worthy of such comparisons as Ray Bourque, Nicklas Lidstrom and Bobby Orr... O.K., maybe not quite yet. but seriously, he's good. And more people better start to recognize.

We talk about what the Kings did over the holidays, including the trade of LaBarbera and the emergence of Quick. We crown a King of the Weeks (one player for two weeks) and we touch on the Winter Classic, World Juniors and the All-Star starters voting and how it sucks.

We kick off the podcast, talking about... what else... jerseys. Since the Kings unveiled their new third jersey, we give our two cents on it, the logo, and pretty much everything else about the grand unveiling. Don't worry, it's not bad.

And we actually get around to talk about the Kings' past week, going 1-1 and hovering around .500, as well as crown a worthy King of the Week. We also touch on stuff from around the league, such as the number retirements of Wendell Clark and Patrick Roy. We unveil yet another new feature with an awesome name, where we focus on two Kings prospects. And if that wasn't enough, Jesse vents his spleen over... yup, you guess it, jerseys. Actuallu, jersey colors and who gets to wear black if he were commissioner. (One hint, it ain't a lot.)

So grab some Scooby snacks, some bottled water and Snausages. It's time for the latest Hockeywood Insider!

So the past week, I have been in the Bermuda Triangle of technical problems. As you know, I have a new Mac, so I've been dealing with updating everything there. I also have decided to lose the house land line phone, and have it transferred to my cell number, so I've been without phone service for a while. Then there's the newborn at my house...

Sorry, folks. Everything seems to be working smoothly now (hopefully) and everything will soon return back to normal. (Whatever that is.)

This week, Jesse and I catch up on the past two weeks, including the Kings' recent slide. We crown not one, but TWO Kings of the Week, and we try our best to explain just what we've done this last week. So, get your waders on, the podcast is spawning!

This week's podcast finds our two heroes celebrating the Kings 2-1 week on the ice. We discuss a myriad of topics, including how several Kings have suddenly found their stroke on the ice, as well as the real reason the Kings always seem to falter in the second period. Jesse publicly admits that he may have been wrong about Dean Lombardi.

With the announcement that Anze Kopitar signed a seven-year contract extension on Saturday, it dawned on me that the Kings top line of Kopitar, Dustin Brown and Patrick O'Sullivan will be in L.A. for a long time. Which begs the question... what will their nickname be?

Check it out, homies!
