Graffiti on every building you see, in my barrio u better be down with da Sur-13. Homeless people making beds of ur sidewalk. Seems like everyday u see a vato dat u knew being traced in chalk. Drug deals goin on at the neighborhood park, everyone knows better than to walk alone wen it's getting dark. Some people would call this "The Ghetto",but to you it's home. N it's the only place u've ever known. Besides where else u gonna go, if you go anywear else it's gonna be the same kind of hell. Always waitin for that Welfar check to come in da mail, cuz mama's workin two jobs n daddy's in jail. Some people wud call this "Ghetto",but u kno it as ur way of life. What else can u do wen u live in a barrio, where if u dont kno how to fite, you better be quick at pulling out a knife. It's da middle of da nite n u wake up to the sounds of cuetes goin "BANG". It wakes you up for only a second then u realize it's jus anotha fite between some gang. Some people wud identify this as "Ghetto" but what can u do wen ur living in da streets of Los Angele's where almost every bitch u kno is so fuckin scandalous. But not everything in my barrio is about gangs n drugs. We have some good times that include laughs n hugs. Remembering da times wit me kickin it wit mah primos in my backyard grillin sum carne asada, the times i kicked it wit mah homies n familia listenin to sum loud ass music. Where everyone is getting drunk off their asses, n they end up actin stupid. I know this is ghetto but this is my life. the other day this fool asked me what's better than living in da ghetto, i thought about the good times and the bad n when i finally reached a conclusion u know what i answered him? I told him "whatz betta than livin in the ghetto"?.....Nada.
