Here is the link for the Dallas Observer's yearly music awards ballot. It is incredibly detailed this year, good lord! Last year we were nominated in an experimental catergory, this year its dance... next year easy listening. You should follow the link and at least see our catergory, so solid. I think it is us Darktown, Vega, RoyG&daBiv & Sydney Confirm. Holy shit... great humans, great acts.

"Taped" is a 3 song ep that was recorded by Bruce Blay (of Sleep Whale (mom)) before his travels to Europe to play drums for Austin's Balmorhea.  Recorded to pro tools then dubbed to reel to reel then back to pro tools for distrobution.  Feel free to click on the link on the profile page and download it and pass it along to your friends.
As far as us, we aren't doing a whole lot at the moment other than creating some new jams and preparing for our ten day midwest tour in July.  Soon, We'll finally have some new copies of the s/t 5 song ep that was recorded last October and will have it available and a link for you to purchase it on here.  Hope you're all well.

New York based e-radio station "breakthru radio" just did a Denton feature and were kind enough to drop a florene track in the mix. also featured are our friends bridges & blinking lights / rtb2 / daniel folmer / fight bite / street hassle / dust congress and many more we do not know as well. i think its a testament to our little scene because the hour plus long show is nonstop quality tunes without any mention of some of our favorite locals (mom/matthew/mistress/darktown/bryce/shiny/hao..)

we have been (in musical terms) homeless for a while with no real place to call our own. thank you bruce/joel/paul/jim for allowing us to crash the HOCH for a few months because we would have been super stagnant otherwise. so now we have a new spot with some old friends... and we are now complete in a new and improved ROOM.

grab the dallas observer and check the "north of the dial" article. for a magazine that notoriously ignores denton this is a consistent column that concentrates on denton (north... get it!). anyway, they reviewed the show we played with mom & voices and organs and the issue is out now. you can also find the article online here. keep mom in your thoughts as they are having more fun than all of us! safe trip boys, w/ love

We recently put together an Etsy page for distribution of our self-released EP. This allows us to get music to our friends in far off lands. Our EPs are all handmade and individual in design and Etsy allows us to post photos of the CDs so people can pick their favorite. To start, we posted 10 of our favorites that will only be available here...

Self-Released EP
A collection of 4-7 assorted tracks. Custom handmade artwork on each and every cd. For examples check the "Handmade" section of our photographs.

Live @ The House of Dang 11/30/2007
A very early Florene show, possibly our 6th or 7th. In conjunction with Paul Slocum's And/Or art gallery installation 13. This is a fully-improvised set that was caught on cassette tape by none other than Bryce-Isbell. Lo-fi and interesting. This one is not for sale but rather a free download.

Mtn.Hiss (Split w/ Verulf)
Anonymous Records
Originally throw-away material that we recorded in my apartment in one take, it later grew on us and we decided to use it for this split. Verulf then listened to these songs and recorded his music in the vein of ours, thus making it a very cohesive ep. Look for a review of the release on The Silent Ballet soon.

Florene/The Bilderberg Group Split Cassette Tape
Blossom Rust Tapes
Recorded on March 6, 2008, the day of the massive snow storm that came through North Texas. We felt it was fitting as a cassette label out of Wisconsin was releasing it. Our contribution were the two tracks "White" and "Snow Castles," each nearing 15 minutes long. Though the cassette tapes are our of print, we are putting high quality mp3 files (if there is such a thing) for free download on the page.

Rooms Vol. 1
This is the first collection of Florene "Room Jams" as they're called, rooms 1-6. Originally recordings that can last 2 hours, we go back and listen to what we like and these form the basis of songs. These are room recordings (hung mic from the ceiling) from us to you. Cased in 100% recycled sleeves.
