Okay well it's almost here... tomorrow night Lex & I are going to FINALLY go see The Cure at Red Rocks.  They had (as my previous blog explains) been planning an October show, but postponed to finish the album.  Well, no album yet, but they did release a single (The Only One, it's on my playlist if you'd like to have a listen).

Honestly it was so long a wait I wasn't even excited about the concert, just like "ok, schedule for the week - Monday, groceries, Tuesday, school concert, Wednesday, Cure concert, Thursday, laundry..."...

So yesterday I decided to try to psyche myself up... mission accomplished!  You know I go through fits and starts of listening to them nonstop then meandering off somewhere else, but I always come back.  I researched the playlists for recent shows, and it's actually a good thing they didn't release the album yet... out of the 25-30 songs they do (a Cure show is easily 3-4 hours) only maybe 5 songs are less than 10 years old.  NICE!  So all that old stuff that I love so much will be on the menu.  You never know what you'll get with them, I swear they decide on a set list that day, but still.  And Porl Thompson's back with the group, which rules.

Anyway, please enjoy my playlist for the next few days - it's All Cure All The Time, featuring some of my favorites, I know I will!  :)  Thank Jebus for the intarwebs.

Guess what I did yesterday? Bought a house! Crazy.

You can see it (with all the staged furniture) here: www.463dickson.com...

Once that site goes down (and it will eventually I'm sure), got to www.webshots.com, look up "jbirren" and go to town!

All and sundry are welcome to come and visit... I should be all moved in by the end of June.

Go look at that. I DARE you not to laugh. If you don't laugh, you've totally squashed your inner middle-schooler, and I weep for you.

Also, while you're at it... go read the blog for the woman who linked that, because she's funny as all git-out.

Last thing, I am a geek and a half. I all but RAN to my local comic shop yesterday, because I found out that the Dark Tower has a comic now. Did you catch that? Ran! To! A! Comic! Shop!

I bought two, and not only did I buy 2, I bought 2 because ONE MUST NEVER BE TOUCHED, and is now happily moldering in a board-and-bag set.

Not ONLY did I buy 2 so one could be finger-oils free, I GOT ON A WAIT LIST for the next 6 in the series. *geekish delight*

Current mood:  cold

Holy. Mother. Of. Gods.

We have 2 feet of snow, and it's still going.  Last count at 9:45 last night was 25 inches for Longmont, but as it is STILL SNOWING and is supposed to until about noon today, that could end up being a TAD MORE.

EVERYTHING is closed, which of course annoys me because I want my packages hahaha but whatevs... things should be open this afternoon, on a limited basis.  Thank goodness the gods smiled on us and things will be somewhat clearer for the weekend's travel... and I got a snow day!

It truly is gorgeous though, I gotta say.  Wish I had some boots though.  *brrrr*

Happy Solstice to all of you...Dec 22nd is the shortest day of the year, when the sun is reborn to new life and the Oak King lords it over the Holly King once again!  (Look it up, chuckles.)

And that's why I love her.

She has a manager at work who owns one of those irritating Dancing Gopher things, ya know the one - sings "I'm All Right" and wiggles around spastically.  So she always threatens to kidnap it, and yesterday she finally did it. Manager in question apparently decided to make his entire team do a bunch of online self-enrichment courses, all to be done this week, so they put her up to kidnapping the gopher and doing unspeakable things to it, and photographing the incidents. Little did they know the level of sickness she can reach.  (It should be noted that the Manager is actually quite nice, and this was done in good fun, and they guy has a great sense of humor.)

Her nagging question is... "I wonder if they will wonder where I found leather restraints?"

heh.

I particularly like the last one, an ode to Psycho, including Hershey's Syrup, just to be authentic.

I WILL NOT BE IGNORED.

And finally... REE! REE! REE! I love the slow twist to the drain...so authentic.

In other news... Thanksgiving was nice, looking forward to Christmas/Yule with my mom.

Well hell. Lexie's out of town, Thanksgiving is going to be a quiet day with Jim & Tanya. He's making a bird, I'm making the trimmings. But all is not lost, I'm going to tape the Macy's parade and make Lexie & I our own little dinner on Saturday when she gets home, followed by our tradition of decorating for Christmas! Should be nice. I got some sparking cider and am cleaning the house from top to bottom - just because it's just us doesn't mean we can't treat it special!

Happy Thanksgiving to all and sundry, I miss you all and wish you well!

OMG I am hating work about now; my alternate/manager is out of town for 3 weeks. Not only am I insanely jealous (3 weeks in Scotland, helloooo nurse!) but I also have to do both of our jobs. Yuck.

Oh well, c'est la vie. At least it's chicken curry day. :)
