Happy new Year to you all!!!! Hope everyone partied till they puked over the festive period!!!!

Hopefully 2008 will be as successful as 2007 but not as successful as 2009. We will reveal our plans for world domination soon but here is just a little taste of what we will be bringing you this year!

First up is our 2nd Birthday Party on Fri 11th Jan which sees performances from some of our fave acts of 2007. Take a look at the flyer:

WILD BEASTS
Signed to Domino Records (the very label that brought us Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand and Bonde Do Role) this kendal 4 piece sound a bit like Orange Juice and The Smiths. They are on everybodies Ones To Watch List for 2008. The band have recently been on tour with Jack Penate and British Sea Power.
http://www.myspace.com/wildbeasts

LAURA GROVES
Somewhat of a Bradford celebrity Laura has supported the likes of The Guillemots, Final Fantasy, Jack Penate, Tilly and The Wall and Joe Lean and The Jing Jang Jong. Her first ever album will be out in the Spring of 2008 on XL/Salvia records.
http://www.myspace.com/lauragroves

THE DEBUTS
The Debuts are one of the most interesting bands around at the moment. They sound a bit like The Cure fronted by a female Ian Curtis.
http://myspace.com/thedebuts

SPODNI PRADLO
The latest addition to the ever growing Bradford scene. These guys fuse Eastern European music with big sounding Indie. Think Los Campesinos doing Beirut or A Hawk and a Hacksaw doing Animal Collective.
http://www.commyspace.com/spodnipradlo

Plus special guest dj JOHNNY FLORIDA ( Pigs, Bad Sneakers, The Faversham). Johnny Florida has been djing and promoting in Leeds for a good few years. He was instrumental in setting up the Pigs club night with The Kaiser Chiefs and he has brought bands like Arctic Monkeys, The Gossip and Animal Collective to Leeds.

Resident djs playing indie, electro, new wave, post punk, rock n roll, hip hop and party music been played till 3am.

............................................................................................................................

February's Granadaland is just as impressive as January's. We have Elle S'Appelle playing supported by Heads We Dance, Fourteen Corners and Pierpoint. With a Special DJ set from Whiskas (forward Russia). Thats on the 8th of feb at the Love Apple.

September is a busy month for us at Granadaland. We have three ace gigs coming up and we will be involved in new projects in the coming months. Keep em peeled boys 'n' gals!!!!!

..............................................................................................................................

Be sure to make it to at least one of the gigs we are putting on:

The Twilight Sad are one of the most exciting bands around. They are from Glasgow and are on Fat Cat Records (home to Sigur Ros and MUM to name but a few). The band have been on tour with Idlewild and Snow Patrol. Their debut album, Fourteen Winters & Fifteen Autumns, is out now.

Support comes from label mates Frightened Rabbit and Bradford acts Laura Groves, Fourteen Corners and Le Tournoi.

Sunday 9th September. Doors open at 6pm and Le Tournoi will be on stage at 6.45pm. £5 entry.

Some nice quotes about The Twilight Sad:

"Fucking Transcendent"/ "8.6/10" Pitchfork
"This album is something special" The Sun
"Orchestral rock with a honed passion" (7 Artists from SXSW That Will Matter) VH1
"A Multi-layered, massive masterpiece; nine songs both tender and touching yet at the same time powerful enough to knock your face clean off your head" Drowned In Sound
"10/10" (Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters), "Single Of The Month" (That Summer, At Home I Had Become The Invisible Boy) No Ripcord
"Purveyors of post-modern anthemic rock… they're winners" / Band To Watch Stereogum

............................................................................................................................

Our monthly club night returns on Friday 14th Sept. Playing live will be The Officers, Darlings Of The Splitscreen, The Mirandolas and Sharp Darts. Bands will finish at 11.30pm followed by 2 rooms of DJ action. Indie, electro, new wave, post punk etc will be heard in room 1 and anything and everything can be heard from dj Will "two rooms" in, erm, room2.

............................................................................................................................

The most exciting gig of them all will be British Sea Power at St Georges Hall. I have seen them 11 times and it has always been a dream for me to see them in Bradford. They have released two critically acclaimed albums on Rough Trade Records and fans include David Bowie and Lou Reed.

For reviews on the band go to http://britishseapower.co.uk/press.htm

THE LODGER
The Lodger finally return to Granadaland after last years almost sell out performance. They release their debut album on 11.06.07 on Angular Records. The very same label that released early Klaxons and The Long Blondes singles. The Long Blondes are big fans of the band and they invited The Lodger on their recent UK tour.

LAURA GROVES
Laura is back at Granadaland. Fans include Guillemots and Jack Penate who she has both played with. Her single is out sometime in August and this will be one of the last oppurtunities to catch Laura in Bradford this year.
myspace.com/lauragroves

LE TOURNOI
Le Tournoi are one of Bradford's exciting bands. They mash up folk with post punk and the results are quite magnificent. This will be their first gig in a month or so and should be an interesting one.
myspace.com/tournoi

As always there will be djs playin the best in an indie, party, post punk, new wave, rock, electro and what ever else takes our fancy.

If everything goes to plan Will from Le Tournoi will be playing a set in the back room. Who knows?

April's Granadaland is going to be a reet treat for everyone that turns up. We have three top bands, regular granadaland djs in the main room and for the first time ever the Fancy Dancin' djs in the backroom. Fancy Dancin' are Evie and Sophie who will be playing Party, Motown, Reggae and Pop tunes to keep you entertained.

It will also be Jack (Lizard Lips) Rhino's last dj set in the main room for a while as he is going travelling to Tahiti or some place like that. Jack has been at Granadaland from the start and it will be sad to see him go. I'm sure we will see him off in style.

WHITE LIGHT PARADE
WLP* are one of Bradford's hottest exports sounding like The Clash and Arctic Monkeys. They have appeared in the NME and their songs have been heard on Virgin Radio and on bbc radio. In recent months they have supported The View, The Enemy, The Longcut, The Switches and The Aliens. Catch them now in their home town before they really do hit the big time.
myspace.com/whitelightparade

SITUATIONISTS
Situationists are from Sheffield and sound something like the Futureheads and Hot Club De Paris. They are going on tour with The Video Nasties later on this year. Lamacq is a fan and XFM dj John Kennedy has tipped Situationists for big things in 2007. Situationists have just supported The Twang.
myspace.com/situationists

WAX PLANET
Wax planet are hottly tipped by the NME this year and A&R scouts from various labels can be seen at their shows. They appeared at this years SXSW in Texas and performed live for Fox Television.

Hello all,

I Hope everyone is well and that everyone enjoyed our first birthday party in January. It was super ace. A big thanks goes out to all those who attended! It was the perfect end to our first year of promoting gigs. Even local Z list celebrity Billy Pearce showed up to dance to the tunes of DJ Bobby Sparrow.

Our second year in exsistance is already shaping up nicley as we plan to bring more high profile bands to Granadaland along with special guest DJs.

............................................................................................................................

We have two extremely special gigs coming up in February. Check em out:

SPORTSDAY MEGAPHONE
Sportsday megaphone is Hugh Frost, a Londoner who plays Electronic pop gems using Casio keyboards and various other instruments. He is signed to Sunday Best Records (Radio 1 dj Rob Da Banks label). Sportsday Megaphone is playing with the fabulous CRYSTAL CASTLES in March and he sounds pretty similar to them.
myspace.com/sportsdaymegaphone

Granadaland and mono are teaming up next month to bring you Australia's Wolf and Cub. We are both very excited about it. In a few months Wolf and Cub are gonna be huge and we are lucky to get them to play such a small club especially when they are currently touring 2000 capacity venues with WOLFMOTHER! This won't be last time Granadaland and mono will be collabarating!!!

WOLF AND CUB
Wolf and Cub are from down under and are signed to 4AD (Home to The Pixies, TV on the Radio and The Mountiain Goats).

............................................................................................................................

Some of you may be aware that Granadaland and Mono, along with the nice people at St Georges Hall, will be collabarating on a new project starting from April. Together we will be promoting a monthly gig night bringing high profile bands to St Georges Hall. We are so excited to be involved in this project. St Georges is a fabulous venue and we have all seen some top acts play there including Franz Ferdinand and Morrissey. The project will run for four months to start with and if it goes well who knows what will happen. A name for the event has yet to be decided. We will keep you posted on further developments.

............................................................................................................................

There has been some interesting developments with Laura Groves over the last month. I am now co managing Laura with Ed from lunchtm. Ed also manages The Guillemots and is involved with Rufus Wainwright. We are excited to be working with him. Laura will be doing a few dates with The Guillemots on their tour in February. Dates are to be confirmed so i'll let you know as soon as I know. Laura will also be spending some time in Universal's studio in London at the end of February to record some new tracks.

On Friday 12th January Granadaland will be celebrating it's 1st Birthday Party. It's been a great first year for us. We would like to thank all the bands that have played and all the regulars that turn up to the shows. A big shout out to everyone that has helped out at Granadaland: Mike, Jack, lewalski, Liam, The Sanderson brothers and Tim.

Our second year looks to be an exciting and busy one. We are trying to get bigger and higher profile bands to play in Bradford, we are involved in the management of Bradford's very own Laura Groves and we will be starting our own record label sometime soon.

This is gonna be as crazy as October's GRANADALAND so get down early to avoid disapointment!!!!!!!!!!

NAPOLEON IIIrd

A one man pop machine and his reel to reel, Napoleon sometimes conducts his live experiments in surround sound and other times, does not. He sounds like The Beach Boys in Mr Wilson..s sandpit, wrestling with John Cage's baby boy who is currently learning to play the trumpet. Napoleon has recently done a remix of FORWARD RUSSIA's 18 and has been played a lot on XFM and The Beeb. He is currently touring with GRANADALAND favourite Jeremy Warmsley.

WILD BEASTS

Wild Beasts sound like regimented contemporary post-punk possessed by the ghosts of long-defunct 1950s rock and roll and swing bands. Their debut single, 'Brave Bulging Bouyant Clairvoyants' s, is out on Monday November 20th through Bad Sneakers Records. Catch them now before they hit the big time!!!!

LE TOURNOI

This will be Le Tournoi's first ever gig and we at Granadaland are super excited about it!!! The Thornton band have already recorded and self released two EPs with a third to be available at the gig. Expect to witness an "upbeat Elliot Smith" (mono) playing Post Punk numbers. Get down early to catch West Yorkshire's best kept secret.

Thanks to everyone who showed up at October's Granadaland. There were around 500 of you in total!!!!! Wowzers. Sorry if you were refused entry but it would have been unsafe to let anymore people in. Shut Your Eyes were ace and they said it was one of their best gigs they've done. Redcarsgofaster and Redwire entertained the crowd too. People boogied into the early hours to djs Jack Rhino and Mikesy Bo Bikesy.

Make sure you arrive early to the next Granadaland (Fri Nov 10th) as its sure to be as busy as October's. Napoleon IIIrd will be treating us to his one man pop show. Support comes from the excellent Wild Beasts and Bradford's Le Tournoi.

Thanks again
