Sapphire Stylus a compact disc by Nick Duffy & The Lilac Time available for purchase from this now working link http://bit.ly/7NZjuC

Nick Duffy & The Lilac Time - Sapphire Stylus - recorded in Cornwall manufactured in Plymouth and sold only by hand at Nicks local deli Provedore 43 Trelawney Road, Falmouth.

"We see this as the green version of the The Eagles selling their last album only through Walmart" says Bogus Frontage CEO Stephen Duffy  "I don't know if the Eagles delivered their stock by hand but Nick does. The music is also a bit different from the soft country rock vocal stylings of the Eagles.  For one thing it's instrumental and for another most of the instruments sound slightly broken".

Joe Walsh was unavailable for comment.

“A lot of covers of the late, great Townes Van Zandt’s songs aren’t that successful, largely because his versions are so definitive. This album, then, comes as a pleasant surprise as a cast of largely unknowns and semi-knowns take on the task, emerging triumphant.
Fleet Foxes’ J Tillman’s naked and funeral ‘My Proud Mountains’ is the pick of the nineteen tracks but Stephen Duffy does almost as well with Van Zandt’s best-known song, ‘Pancho And Lefty’, accompanying the despair with mournful accordion and a chorus of angels, while The Be Good Tanyas whispering ‘Waiting Around To Die’, Pacific Ocean Fire’s ‘You Are Not Needed Now’ and Great Lake Swimmers’ ‘Our Mother The Mountain’ are also right up there. As indeed is everybody else, for this is that rare beast, a tribute album without a weak track. The packaging is good too, with Angie Renfro capturing the mood of the music perfectly.
A more radical treatment or two, a’ la Jason And The Scorchers and ‘Absolutely Sweet Marie’, would have been nice but that aside, this is a lesson in how to do this sort of thing – and absolutely first-class." 4/5 (ROCK N REEL)

70. Looking for a Day in the Night - The Lilac Time (Cooking Vinyl, 2000)
In 2000, after a decade-long hiatus, Stephen Duffy and his brother Nick reconvened the folk-pop project they formed in 1986. The result is an album of rapt dawn choruses and nocturnal acoustic reveries — albeit shot through with the smoggy industrial sunsets of the Duffys’ Birmingham upbringing. http://bit.ly/5ULWgx
