Paper Windows intends to play at the UU Music Festival at Wirt Rd in Houston, in May, but it may prove tricky logistically.  One of our members has an important event to attend the same day.  Jennifer will be there whether or not PW plays.

From Jennifer:

Many events have occurred since we played our first gig....several parties, some open mics, rehearsals here and there.  The last party we played paid us a couple hundred dollars and some experience points. 1000 sq ft room with 160 guests, (75 to 100 were expected), 3 catering staff and us (4 of us because we're adding bass playing George whenever he can manage...)  We tucked ourselves into a corner with our little amps and mics n stuff and proceded to play.  30 minutes in, we couldn't hear ourselves and boy did that make a difference.  Ooooooooooopppppssssss!  But, no worries.  The hostess loved us and no one threw their food at us or booed.  If only we could have do overs....  ^_^ we'd be much happier with ourselves.  We had a good time with it anyway, and appreciate what we learned.  Artists (?) are always harder on themselves.........
Hey, does anyone have any advice for a guitar player's hand.....Pain in the lefty.

Rob here.

Wow!... what a rush. What a way to have a first show. The Houston UU Music Fest is a tiny little five hour long music festival with two stages and we played the main stage. Man, what a way to start. I still have a buzz from it.

When we first went on, there were about 100 people out on the lawn and by the time we finished it might have doubled... maybe 150 or so.

Either way, we got a CHOICE time slot. We went on just before the Gorilla Dance Band. They're made up of musicians who have been playing together for years and know how to work the crowd and play tight together. Thank God we didn't go on after them. They were great!

The weather was as good as you could get in Houston in mid-May. It was warm... a little humid... (sweat fell into my eyes and began burning them) but it could have been a lot worse. Wish I would have had some water. Lessons learned.

We've played better... we've certainly played worse... but all in all, I had a great time and will always remember my first show with the other members of Paper Windows. Thanks guys! John & Jen you guys rock!

Current mood:  thankful

So here it is Tuesday night and the band is a mere four days from our first gig. Really cool! Over the weekend we made a strong push to rehearse so we practiced for about four hours on Saturday then five more hours on Sunday (we took a two hour break in between).

All three of us are excited about the show and it's coming together pretty well. Pretty cool that our first show will be in front of about 200 people.

Hope we can see you out there.

heheheheheheh, that's funny!  Our recording label!....heheheheheh  That'd be freakish if we were to be signed..........I'm easily amused!

Well, we're getting ready for our first public performance.....er, will it be at the Hops House or the UU mUsic Fest?  hhmmmm

At any rate, I'm nervous.  I'm always nervous, so, that's nothing new... We do have plenty to play.  It could be cool.

It's me, Jen
