ZwareMetalen.com:
The pounding drums, the guitar sound with interludes, make it completely modern. This album has great moments, including acoustic elements and atmosphere tumbling breakdowns (7.1/10).
ExtreemMetaal:
What follows is a combination of classic beat-down pieces, faster thrashy riffs, pounding drumming and vocals ranging between grunts, screams and melodic vocals. 'I’ll Hunt You Down’ Set Me Free’ and the heavy valve ‘Show Your Worth’, where a lovely chorus of old school leaves you yearning for more. In deathcore country today speaks quite quickly a new sensation (8/10).
France
Metal France:
‘We Rise’ is filled with ideas. Between sharp riffs and/or groovy breaks sometimes furious, sometimes melodic, ‘The Dead Lay Waiting’ like to play the rhythms and the machinery is set to the nearest tenth (8/10).
Metal Rock Webzine:
In fact the 12 titles offered are quite different from each other because the combo seems to have us enjoying a range of style, to demonstrate some technical skills already well developed given their average age must not exceed 18. ‘We Rise’ is well in the style that interests us today (6.5/10).
Spain
Noizz Webzine:
If you’re into Metalcore/Deathcore for an adrenaline rush, at maximum volume ‘We Rise’ has what you need (6.75/10).

The Power Of Metal Webzine:
‘Anxiety’ is all about interesting riffs and a very melodic chorus with clean vocals….done the Gothenburg way - the track rules, it kicks ass. Just take a listen to ‘We Stand As One’ A track with riffs that leads my mind towards a huge and heavy battle-tank destroying everything in sight. Fans of Deathcore should check this album out as soon as possible (6.2/10)

Disagreement.net:
The opener ‘Anxiety’ comes with evil growls and melodic death metal riffs, yet the chorus is quite catchy, doing justice to their emo image. The following ‘50S’ comes already with more ferocity and should therefore appeal also to fans of more extreme metal. The album continues in that vain, because ‘We Rise’ doesn’t contain two succeeding tracks that have been knitted after the same pattern. Next to emo smashers like ‘What We’ve Done’, the CD also contains pure death metal tracks like ‘Just In Time’, and even mean rocking moments as can be heard on the convincing title track. Their talent for crossovering can be heard on the groovy and rhythmic ‘We Stand As One’. These five young Englishmen deserve to be watched closely (8/10).
Hungary
KronosMortus:
The sound is great, the instruments sound well, and the quality of the music is very good. I can recommend this music to those who like even the young Hungarian underground deathcore bands – this is a bit better than them.
FehfOrgacs:
Fact remains that this music is eaten in today’s 15-year old girl, but oh my god ‘The Dead Lay Waiting’ are a very different taste in the mouth.
Germany
Hardken.de:
Pack Pustekuchen! instead of the really rabid metal legs the guys use clean vocals, integrate poppy Sing-A-Longs and put melodies into their songs. Even after prolonged listening, highlights like ‘We Stand As One’ and ‘Show Your Worth’ will not become boring. Melodic Deathcore with a nice flavour! (3/5)
Metal.de:
‘We Rise’ features 12 tracks, from slow to fast, which places less emphasis on musical tail comparison, for catchy, brutal melodies. With driving double-bass passages with the simplicity of hardcore, the tracks are mixed quickly and precisely to the point (8/10).
Heavyhardes.de:
‘We Rise’ is modern, which strikes the right balance between old and new and therefore stands out alone, even from the crowd.
Metalhammer.de:
Among the highlights of the album are without question the high-speed attack ‘Just In Time’ and the unity anthem ‘We Stand as One’. The groundwork is laid – now its stay tuned.
Italy
Metalitalia:
I defy anybody to remain stationary on the various ‘50S’, ‘Just In Time’, ‘I'll Hunt You Down’ and ‘I Will Return’, filled with epic melodies, gang vocals and powerful passages. For now we have to promote ‘The Dead Lay Waiting’.
Informazione Metal:
‘The Dead Lay Waiting’ are rooted in Death/Metalcore, but have played with different shades, like Soulfly, Opeth, As I lay Dying, and why not. ‘We Rise’ has a lot of quality, hard sound and which allows you to better appreciate the music of these five young Englishmen. We start then from the compactness of ‘Anxiety’, followed by the harmonic rhythms of ‘50S’, through the intensity of ‘I'll Hunt You Down’, until you reach the wall of sound of ‘You Look Better When You're Dead’ that makes the track impenetrable. Between the heavy execution of ‘What We've Done’ and ‘Set Me Free’, the fine arrangements of the title track, the tempo lifts with ‘Just In Time’, by far the most extreme moment of the album. With ‘We Stand As One’ goes to a complicated dynamic, with ‘The Last Stand’ you retrieve a sound more dated, unlike ‘I Will Return’. ‘Show Your Worth’ finally puts the album to end in good over quality (7/10).
Metalwave:
Already from the first song you understand what school the the five British men come from: a death - metal core fast and violent (7.4/10).
Metaluss.it:
‘We Rise’, the debut of the young band, gives hope that their journey can be really long and prolific. Well produced and equally well played, leaves the listener breathless for the duration of the disc. Tracks like ‘Set Me Free’, or ‘We Rise’, are devastatingly sharp and wildly riff fired. Other tracks like ‘Show Your Worth’ and ‘50S’ are essential, for their consistency and originality in songwriting. These five kids so young, are intended for a long long journey. ‘Rising Records’ has made yet another big hit on the metal scene! (8/10)

Blogger Shcizo!:
‘I'll Hunt You Down’ can be said to be the album's most striking piece. ‘I Will Return’ should take other special attention. Recently, the most exciting band, one of the deathcore albums to listen to.
