Hello All...
Well, we have been here for one week, and what a week it's been! Firstly, the guy we rented our apartment off lied to us - there is no wireless! :( But one week later, we're settling in and now i find myself at the internet cafe, just around the corner from our diggs.
Our venue - Nicol Edwards
Famous for being Edinburgh's most haunted pub - now a place where each night at 7:15 you will find us, orgasaming our little hearts out! The venue is great, its a music venue, so its got the Adelphi feel, but with a more historic feel in structure, one of the performance rooms actually drip... even when its not raining lol. We love this venue, its just off the Royal Mile, and our venue is open till 5am! So it's party central, and in our opinion, the best of all fringe fringe venues that we've seen so far!
Other Acts
It's been great to meet so many new people who are all sharing this wonderful experience with us, it's show after show at Nicol Edwards, and it's a nice feeling to walk up to your venue in a strange town and feel like you already have people you know and you can chat to if your alone. Big up - James, Tom, Todd, Joe and Graham, and Geraldine. It's a great privailige to know that ever hour in this beautiful city, you can watch performance, its rock and roll dudes!
Leafleting
The weather has been for most - dredful, pissing down none stop for the last two days, so the Royal Mile has been full of leafletters, but not many people looking for shows, please god, bring back the sun, so we can get our gladrags on and hit it hardcore! On Monday (our last day of sun) we hit the streets, i was in my bridal gown and the ladies were done up like 4 slags on a hen 'do, we got so much more interest on the street like this, and it paid off later, audience numbers had doubled! Then its been pissing it down ever since! Today its cold, but dry, so we're taking to the streets again, and were gonna be singing and dancing as we go!
Our Audiences
Have been fantastic, whether 8 or a full house, all our feedback has been positive, one guy had been to 15 shows so far and he thought ours was in his top 2, one woman said it was the best things she'd seen, a dutch couple said they loved it, and they understood what it was about, even with the language barrier, it's been well recieved by Australian and American audience members too! Last night we did have 4 people walk out lol, i have it on good authority that they were Germans and they didn't understand a word - so fair play. We've had some interesting feedback from some male audience members too, with comments such as "I thought i'd learn more about woman from this show - but i actually learned that men and women are NOT that different after all, very similar in fact", i liked this comment.
Well, Kerrie's telling me that i have to go, need to get changed and ready to hit the streets!
We're going out tonight with a group of guys from our venue, Emma is dying for a good drink lol, i'm fighting the flu, but ill stay strong, for Emma's sake! :)
If there are any performers reading this, who haven't been to the fringe before, speaking as a long overdue fringe virgin i say... JUST DO IT!!!!
It's fucking awesome!
