July 22nd- After four days of intense competition, the Rhino Bloodsharks won their first Adrenaline Elite Tournament title, defeating the Arizona Wild Card Team 8-7.  What was the longest championship in Adrenaline history (11 minute sudden death overtime in addition to regulation) ended when Peter Baum capitalized on a one-on-one with the opposing keeper. The victory capped off an impressive 7 and 1 record for the Bloodsharks.

 

In addition to the Bloodsharks, the Rhino Elite team, the other Rhino team competing in the South Swell Bracket of the tournament, lost a heartbreaker in their own Championship game to the South Bay Starz from Los Angeles.  None the less, the team posted an impressive 6 and 2 record for the tournament.  Both teams created a great deal of buzz around Sonoma, especially with the droves of college recruiters that followed around the Rhino teams more than any other out there.  Many of the Rhino graduated seniors that will be playing in college this fall found their future coaches at past Adrenaline tournaments.  With teams competing from Washington, California, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado and Texas, there is no question that Oregon can successfully compete with the best of the west.
