Finally!!

We are going to be recording 6-8 tracks (TBD) this January with Jay Maas @ Getaway Group (www.getawaygroup.com). Its going to be tentatively released in mid-late March by our good friends @ BNS Sessions (www.bnssessions.com) If you don't know them, please check them out, they have just released some wonderful albums.

Unfortunately, this also means that you will have to keep yourselves warm without the box this winter as we won't be playing any shows anywhere for a bit. For the time being you can check out all the sweet pics Tony from Gunfight! took for us. (They have also just released and EP on BNS that I've already listened to quite a few times.)

Send us your address for holiday cards!

Current mood:  contemplative
Alright alright, so its been maybe a year and 2 months later, counting from our first show, and arguably longer if you count the month or so we spent writing the songs. (And however long Danielle spent writing songs we used from her previous solo writing). To get to the point, we have been actively playing around Boston and extending ourselves out into close regions and not so close regions and it felt like a time to reflect upon what we've accomplished and what's gone wrong. This is going to be longer than I think anyone reading this far would like it to be but I make no apologies.

May 26th 2007 was our first show at the All Asia. It was the first time I'd met the two openers (okay so I met Sophie at Open Mic a few days prior but I didn't KNOW them) Sophie Innerfield and Lifejacket. People who at the time were total strangers are now like old friends. We played 3 shows that summer with drummer Alayna Hughes before we mutually decided it was best to part ways. James Harkins of This Building's on Fire helped us out with the 2 shows we had booked at the Pussycat Lounge in NYC and the Baseball Tavern in Boston while we searched for a new permanent drummer.

That search took us from June to November where after our show August 3rd at the Baseball Tavern we took a 4 month break before playing our first show with new drummer Eric Kogelschatz on Cape Cod at the Black Spot Cafe December 7th.

Since January of 2008 we have been playing 2-3 shows a month in the Boston and NYC area whoring ourselves out around town playing at O'Brien's, Sally O'Brien's, the Abbey Lounge, the Milky Way, PA's Lounge, Plough & Stars, Charlie's Kitchen, Mideast Upstairs, Great Scott, and finally this month at TT the Bear's. (Not to mention the house shows and live radio appearances on WMFO and WMBR). We've traveled to Cape Cod, NYC, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, and Northampton. Managed a 10 day midwest tour to Detroit, Chicago, Madison, St Louis, Bloomington, Dayton, NYC, and Providence. We've recorded a 5 song EP "The Histone Code" and are preparing for a new release to be recorded next month.

Its been a really wild year. Its become something I don't think any of us ever expected it to become and at times something more than we can handle. While preparing for this new release we'll be harder to find than we used to be (although cutting down to 1 show a month is hardly disappearing). We want to thank everyone that has helped and supported us over the past year, it means the world to us. We have met some of the most amazing musicians and people, and have been lucky enough to share a stage with them (and hopefully will again soon). We look forward to seeing you all and sorry if we have missed anyone.

Alayna Hughes, 28 Degrees Taurus, Sophie Innerfield, Lifejacket, The Shills, This Car Up, Justin Shorey, Butterknife, David Mirabella, Esther Ku, Bridget & the Squares, Anna Freitas, Jonny Pape, Full Time Dreamers, Sanguine Drone, Quiet Loudly, This Building's On Fire, Shoney Lamar, Cameron Mahoney, Bengt Alexsander, Abolition Band, Left Hand Does, Trades, Territories, Zekar Kovacs, Alex Rivest, Gunfight!, House on a Hill, Werewolves, Horsehands, Dolphinbot, Amoroso, Fly Upright Kite, Doomstar!, John Bean, Burbis, The Never, Kentucky Nightmare, Brother George, Oedipus Tex, Ellis Ashbrook, Moscow Telephone, Sean Farrell, Hallie Bram, Eric Glassman

Thank you everyone who came out last night! I hope you picked up a Territories CD, if not you are missing out.

So, technically speaking, last night's Great Scott show was still a part of the tour. I guess we will begin at the end and then go back to the beginning and find our way back to where we began (is there a literary term for this? starting at the end?)

Regardless, we had a total blast last night and everyone sounded amazing. If you haven't heard Trades, Territories or This Car Up you can find them in our friends list and I would highly recommend all three.

During our set we were approached by the sound engineer who we assumed was carting us off stage, but no, he was coming to tell us we had to stop playing for a few minutes because of noise complaints. (NOISE COMPLAINTS?) yes, noise complaints. Apparently the rear tenants to Great Scott decided last night after a year of living there that our rock was just too much for them to handle and they had to do something about all the racket. They called 3 times during our 20-so minute set and we were forced to hold off until 10 pm to restart the show (Apparently there is some strange loop hole where calling the cops on an established music venue is okay as long as its before 10 pm).

After the show we had the return of after party - pizza party at our house. Frozen pizzas at 2 am after way too many whiskey gingers (whiskey gin. right danielle?) is the best/worst thing ever. Alas it was an early night as all we are all coming off of the post tour no sleep athon.

Photos and stories to come.

Yesterday I had a talked with Alex Rivest (photographer for the Rwanda covers) about the money donated to the Rwaza Orphanage. We have so far raised $40. This money will send one child to school for 4 months. All of the proceeds will go directly to the children.

If you haven’t picked up a copy of our CD you can purchase it on our myspace (sounds like) or e-mail adellevigne@gmail.com if you would like to send money. Even if you already have a CD or you just plain don’t want one, you can still donate to the orphanage. Just note in the comments section in your Paypal order that you are making a donation to the Rwaza Orphanage. Every little bit counts.

Thanks.
