Greetings,
I'm glad to announce that the instrumental recordings for the album are now done! Last weekend we did the acoustic guitars and timpani parts, and thus now only vocals are missing before we can continue to the mixing process. No videos this time, but some future videos might include something from the timpani sessions, so keep your eyes open.
We'll take a few weeks break from the studio now, but the recordings will continue during this month.

Greetings,
Studio diary part VI is once again a videoclip, check it out from the profile's front page or here:
Last weekend was dedicated to bass recordings and the video features our new bassist working on three different songs. Next weekend we'll proceed with acoustic guitars and some other additional stuff.

Greetings,
First of all, we are glad to announce that all the guitar parts have now been recorded, except acoustic guitars and some possible doublings. Next weekend we'll start to record bass tracks and if all goes well, on the weekend after that all but vocals might be done! Then again, the recording of the vocals might get delayed, as Evil has apparently caught the trendy swineflu, which might fuck up his voice for a while quite badly. The recordings have been somewhat jinxed with the disease, as we have already cancelled one studio weekend as our producer caught the swineflu too a few weeks ago. Nevertheless, our plan to have everything done before 2010 remains unchanged.

Greetings,

No video this time, as I though that it's somewhat pointless to show people the development of the sound via recordings made with a camera. The videos before served the purpose of showing some idea of what is to come, but from now on the actual sound clips shall be raw mixes of the actual recordings. Naturally, we might still make some videos of recording the stuff anyway, but this weekend we were a bit lazy on that area and merely concentrated on recording rhythm guitars. Thus I'm proud to announce that all the main rhythm guitars are now done, and those turned out to become even better than I expected. We spent a full 30 hours in a row in the studio (ok, we ate outside of the studio), recording as long as we could, then sleeping there a bit before starting to record again. Brutal and effective. For someone who understands something about guitar gear, think about a sound created with an Engl Powerball and Boss HM-3 -pedal, while playing on a Gibson Les Paul built in the 80's.

Next weekend it's time for some clean guitars and other additional stuff.

Greetings,

While waiting the recordings to continue this weekend, I though to reveal something about the album. So, a few facts:

# The album will contain 8 songs, three new versions of older material that has already appeared on our last two demos and five new tracks.

# Besides me and O. Sirius, there will be other musicians playing on the album too.

# The instruments used won't be limited to the mere trinity of distroted guitars, bass and drums anymore.

# The album's length will be approximately 45-50 minutes.

# The artwork for the album shall be drawn by LK, the same person who did the graphics for our latest demo.

Regards,

- Evil 12th of November

Greetings,

Studio diary part III is now added to the profile and for a longer while it can be found here:
This weekend was dedicated to guitar recordings, and now seven of the eight songs have their lead guitars done. We'll have some break from the recordings again, but next time we'll do the rhythm guitars and / or the remaining lead guitars plus if all goes well, some additional acoustic parts too.

Greetings,

Studio diary part II is now online, for a while in the profile and much longer in here:
This weekend O. Sirius finished the drum recordings, one day ahead of our schedule. After a short break we shall continue with guitar recordings!

-Evil, 7th of October 2009

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Greetings,

First of all, here is a short clip taken after the recordings:
So this weekend O. Sirius recorded some drums. On the next weekend we shall do some more of those, and then if all goes well, all the drum parts will be finished. We shall add more videos etc. to this blog as things progress and there comes something worth to add. We'll also keep the old posts here below the new ones, so it will form a sort of a diary.

Greetings,

As some of you might know, we are going to record our debut album this autumn. The last rehearsals before going to studio have been held, and the signs look promising. The recording of the drums should start within a week, and after that there will be some updates here now and then, maybe even some rough-mixes of songs and so on as the recordings progress. The whole process is going to take A LOT of time, but without any serious problems the material should get done during this year. To get a bit more information, check out that Hierophant Nox -webzine interview linked to one of the earlier blogs.

Greetings,

I just heard that our song "The Solstice of Winter" was played in a weekly radioshow thats dedicated to metal (Metalliliitto) on the national radio. They usually play like one or two demos in the show. If you happen to live in Finland and missed the show (like I did) or you want to listen some metal with guy speaking in Finnish between the songs, it's available via the link below till the 16th of July.

An in depth and long interview about Archimage's past, present and future.
Go and read it here:

In case the link doesn't work, just read below:

Interview with Evil

Archimage is a one man band from Finland. Worth of checking out if you are underground black metal fan that are on the rise lately. Finally a band that has some influences from big names but does not copy them. I'm sure you will like this interview. It is some really interesting reading and make sure you keep an eye on the future Archimage release.

MR: Hail Evil! How are you?
Evil:
Hey Zana! I'm doing just fine, having a summer vacation and drinking some gin at the moment. Spending some quality time as they say.

MR: You are on the scene since year 2003. What has changed since then?
Evil:
Well. I haven't really been that much "in the scene" since I have mostly worked on my own without really releasing anything. But within Archimage I hope I have made some progress with the way I compose and play. The years have taught a few things but there is still damn much to learn, both about making music and how things work in the music world.

MR: And your history? There is not a lot of things we can read about it so can you tell us the most important facts about it?
Evil:
There isn't much to read about me since I aim to keep myself on the background and let the music speak for itself. But I can say that I started to play guitar so I could play it in Archimage, when we got the idea to form the band I was only a vocalist. Thus I can't consider myself to be that good guitar player 'cause I haven't played it all my life. But I used to spend like six hours in a day to practice during the first years. Buying my first guitar was pretty much the turning point of my life, before that I aimed to become a math professor or something like that (Laughing). Even if I pretty much stopped being active in school at all, I still managed to graduate with relatively high grades. After that I have just worked to get enough cash for decent living. I haven't got into a university or anything like that yet, so I can fully concentrate to music things at this point.

MR: Archimage is quite interesting name. Can you explain to us why did you choose it and what does it mean actually? Have you ever changed it?
Evil:
We considered a few names during the winter 2003/2004, but then one day I just looked for synonyms for the word "wizard" and there it was. So basically it means something like "arch wizard" or "the highest wizard" and it doesn't really suit for the bands lyrics at all anymore but I like it since it's simple and easy for people to remember and yet not used by any other serious bands. Or at least I haven't heard it to be. And the idea for a getting a synonym for "wizard" came from Emperors song "I am the Black Wizards" which was the another reason for me to start playing guitar. I wanted to learn how that song was played since it was my favorite song in the world at that time. So to me the name is very logical but it might be a bit misleading if you don't know the story behind it.

MR: Are you planning to have more members in this band? Or will you keep it a one man band forever?
Evil:
It depends. Right now I think that I'll keep myself as the only "official" member, but for example O. Sirius who was one of those two guys I formed Archimage with is now playing the session drums for me and plays on the new demo that we just recorded. The main reason for him being only a session member is that he lives damn far away and thus we can't play together. But I hope to get him to play on all future recordings too since he's really a great drummer and I don't want to use programmed drums anymore like I did on the EP. The real thing is always more.. well, real. Otherwise, if I find people with deep dedication and playing skills far better that my own, sure I'll get more members. But as long as Archimage doesn't play live, it's not mandatory to get more people in the band. And the truth is that when it comes to music, I'm not the easiest person to work with. Specially in Archimage it's pretty much my way or the highway and that is a bit hard for most creative persons to accept.

MR: In 5 years you have one EP released. Tell us more about it? How come you don't have more releases?
Evil:
I haven't realised that it's been five years until you said it. Damn.. it's truly a pretty long time. The reason for the lack of releases is that Archimage has always been really unlucky band. I think we have been promised free studio time three times with it getting cancelled. The reason I did the EP with programmed drums was that I needed to release something, just to prove that it's possible for this band to record and release songs. There has been accidents, broken instruments and broken bones just days before entering studio. Thus this demo that we just recorded is pretty much the first recording with all-real instruments ever, if you don't count stuff we recorded with a tape-recorder back in 2005 (Laughing). But all that time I've been making songs so I have the material ready for doing many more releases. Songs for a full album are composed, all I need is a label to finance the studio sessions and do all the other mandatory stuff. And even after that I would have songs ready for a split album or something like that, and I find all those songs to be really good ones too but they just got a different spirit that the album songs. The good thing with rarely releasing stuff is that you got time to notice which of the songs are really good and worth recording and which aren't, so you can keep the crappy ones hidden from the sunlight.

MR: Since this EP is limited to 100 copies. Is it still available? Where can we get it?
Evil:
It's still available at www.no-sign-of-life.com which is one of the biggest ug-distros in Finland. It's really great that they took it to their list since mostly they only sell albums from bands with recordlabels. But they wanted to support a local band and took the EP there which was really cool, just the way the underground should work. So everyone, go and get it while you still can, I'm pretty sure that once it's sold out it will never get reprinted so it might be a true rarity one day. (Laughing).

MR: Do you have any new material in working progress? When can we expect it?
Evil:
The new demo containing three new songs with O. Sirius on drums is now available for listening in myspace. It's goal is to introduce a bit different sides in Archimage's music, one song being really traditional black metal, one being a bit more folk influenced and diverse, and one having some doom/deathmetal styled things in it. The first feedback has been awesome and I have pretty high hopes for it when I'll start sending it to labels as soon as I get the cover art done. Then if Archimage doesn't get signed, I got songs ready for making another three song demo and that would probably get done somewhere during the autumn 2008.

MR: You are hailing from Finland and even though there is a lot of bands... specially black metal bands you are quite well known in the underground scene as a man that does not repeat after others. What do you think about that?
Evil:
Well it's good to hear that some thinks like that, since I would hate to be considered as a copycat. One of the first reasons of starting to make own music was that there really weren't that many bands that I liked to listen to. So I decided to start making the kind of music I wanted to hear. Of course I have found many great bands after that and propably taken many influences here and there, but I have never really wanted to sound precisely like some other band. I just want to mix the best parts of the things my favourite bands do and add my own ideas to that. If it turns out to be original and listenable, I couldn't really be more satisfied. Also one point is that I don't really do my music to please anyone else, I just want to listen to it at home and jam it with my guitar. So I don't need to think like "Darkthrone sounded like this, people like Darkthrone, I want people to like me so I will copy Darkthrone". If I want to listen to Darkthrone, I put on Transilvanian Hunger. I don't need my own band for that. But if someone else shares my taste of music and likes to listen to what I make, it's really cool too. It's not the goal why I make music, but certainly I won't complain about it (Laughing).

MR: And what are your music influences or idols if you have any?
Evil:
Emperor has been the band for me for ages now. Their music made me wanting to learn how to do black metal vocals and grab the guitar. Darkthrone and Mercyful Fate have also been really important for me really long. From the Finnish scene Behexen is pretty much the only really important band to me, but then again I can listen to their music endlessly. Ajattara is another great Finnish band too, but in general the Norwegian black metal has always been closer to my taste that the Finnish scene. Other bands to mention would be Taake, Watain (ok, they are Swedish), Urgehal, 1349 and maybe even old Mayhem and then of course tons of non-black metal bands like Slayer etc. Classical music has probably influenced me somehow too, since I think it's the only genre besides black metal that can contain the certain kind of really strong and real feeling in it that it does. I can't really explain what I mean by that but I think that some black metallers know what I mean.

MR: Is it hard for you to maintain your own style when you are under influence of other bands?
Evil:
Not really. I think it even helps you to find your own style more precisely the more you listen to other bands 'cause then you hear what has been done already and how things can be done so you won't repeat others mistakes or copy some riffs used hundreds of times before. I get easily influenced, but I (mostly) just feel it when I compose if it's Archimage or if I'm just "copying" something. I also got some other bands that are not black metal projects so when I do something that doesn't fit Archimage, I use it with those projects.

MR: And your lyrical theme? What is the thing you write about most of the time?
Evil:
Suicide. That has been pretty much the central topic in my lyrics during the last few years. If I get to make the full album, I think half of the songs are about suicide. Maybe even more. Then there are lyrics about anti-christianity/anti-religional stuff, misantrophy, hate etc. and also some more methaphorical lyrics in the form of short tales or stories. It used to be a lot easier for me to write lyrics instead of music but now it has become completely opposite. I write lyrics pretty rarely and when I do I try not to repeat myself. But somehow I always end up with new suicide lyrics. Can't help it. But the main thing is that I need to be honest to myself with the lyrics, I can't write about some random "dark" stuff that I would think people might be interested about or something like that. The things I write about need to mean something to me so I can sing those with some feeling in my voice. I'm not some actor who can put his soul into pretty much anything, and I would never want to be.

MR: I saw that you still don't have a label. Are you looking for one? Or maybe is there a label interested in you?
Evil:
Well there have been a few small labels wanting to sign Archimage, but as I learned with the EP I don't really need a label for small releases. But I'm hoping for getting signed for making the album and spreading the plague as widely as possible. I'm not really dreaming for Archimage to become a big thing or anything, but it would be great just to release albums and that all the people who might like the music could have a change to hear it. So many great bands stay completely unknown 'cause it's pretty much impossible to hear their stuff and I think it's sad. There's nothing wrong with wider audience etc. if you stay true to yourself and get it by doing what you want to do.

MR: What are your plans for the future?
Evil:
Making music as long as it keeps interesting. And I assume that it will be a pretty long time. Making more releases with Archimage, maybe trying to get the band even on stage at some point, if I find suitable live-members. Then doing music also with my other projects and then of course thousands of outer musical things like writing a book etc. But right now it's all about the music and that's the way I want to keep it for a while.

MR: And last words are yours...
Evil:
Go and buy the Archimage S/T EP from NSOL so you can brag to your friends after few years that you have Archimage's hand numbered debut release! And support the underground bands in general, those people do what they do for the love for music instead of the love for cash as the many of the major bands do but even they need support to keep on going.

MR: Thanks for this interview Evil and good luck with everything!
Evil:
Thanks Zana, it was a pleasure to do this one. Keep up with the good promotion work!

The Solstice of Winter
It's time!

Relief within my heart
fills me with dark energy.
It enables me to rise
once more from my agony.

The northern death walk
my final task to complete.

Grief I feel not
as I crawl out from my cave.
Even I know it's for the last time,
but my home is no longer here.

The frostbitten soil
scrunches below my feet
as I wander
towards the lake, my grave.

As I arrive to the wintery shore
the blizzard's dancing over the ice.
Soon its embrace shall take me
as it'll be my suicide device.

The shore starts to fade to the horizon
as I walk further away from humanity.
All I see is a raging white storm around me
as I lay upon the snow to wait.

There is no future
and past, it's meaningless.
All that matters is now;
the journey to nothingness.

Journey into the nothingness.

Long have I planned this day
and what will be the way
for me to gently die.
Underneath the stormy sky

I salute hypothermia
as pain starts to fade.
It gives
the craved euphory.

Time closes the door.
The next snowflake
on my cheek
won't melt anymore.
-Lyrics to Archimage's song
"The Solstice of Winter"
by Evil 2008.

The Dark Glory of Quietus

Darkness, solitude and suicide.
The trinity leading my life.
The imminent embrace of death
is ceaseless in my mind.

Seeking something to die for
to subsist another while.
Searching in vain since I've acknowledged before
I rule my entire life.

Thus whenever I choose to inhale my last breath
no-one can take credit for my "premature" death.

Towards the death now leads my path.
Tonight I'll break the chains of life.
The final release from reality.
Liberation from insanity.

I'll die with a smile on my face.
Happier than ever, knowing it's all over.
I'll greet the void with open arms
as the dark glory of quietus descends.

Life eternal nor immortality,
neither I seek with my deeds.
Longing for peace and rest; the void
which everyone shall reach one day.

Never again shall I die in my dreams
just to wake up with a disappointed scream.
Tonight I'll meet the meaning of life.
I won't be here for the sunrise.
- Lyrics to Archimage's song

Archimage Interview by Nocturna

Archimage Interview
With Evil (solo artist)
Finland based Black Metal

www.myspace.com/archimagehorde

Nocturna: Hi how are you ? You must be terribly busy working on the plans for your first full length album, how is that going for you ?
Evil: Hello, I'm just fine, thanks for asking! I truly am busy these days and not only because of the first full length album lurking in the future but I'm also planning a split album with some as yet undecided band, and setting up my own firm/label too. So it's pretty hectic at the moment but I can't really complain. The material for the full length is pretty much composed and the lyrics are partly written too so if all goes well there might be three Archimage releases within 2008! First the EP very soon and then the split and finally a full length.

Nocturna: Many are eagerly awaiting the release of your debut ep, hopefully to be out later this month, with pre-orders nearly being sold out ! What can your fans expect from this album ?
Evil: The idea of this EP was to show to the world that Archimage is a real band making real music, because before this EP there wasn't really any material to show to people even if the band has existed for about four years. I could have started with the full length album right away, but I want to release my songs in a certain order, showing the history of Archimage through time instead of just forgetting the older songs. So this EP is kind of a "top four" of the material I wrote between 2004 and 2006.

Nocturna: The band originally started as a full line up but with so many exterior pressures and other commitments members have come and gone, you have always been the driving force behind the band and now it is your solo project, this must be very demanding for you, how do you balance all the roles within the music?
Evil: Making the band a solo project again has had its good and bad sides. Now I don't have to wait for others to learn the songs and the schedules don't create any problems, but then again it completely fills my own schedule since I have to do four peoples work within the band. When I turned Archimage into my solo project in summer 2007 I just had had enough with the delays of recording material, that were caused by problems that weren't anyway related to music or me. I wanted to finally make this EP, then I could concentrate on the newer material, because I had already began to have too many songs completed that I wanted to record. I still do though, that's what gave me the idea of making a split album too. Four years of writing songs without recording anything has filled my home with paper piles containing hundreds of songs that I want to record someday. But in general since I really want to compose all the parts of the songs myself, the creative freedom of doing it all alone suites me really well.

Nocturna: At the moment you are appealing for a new drummer, what are you looking for in applicants and what prompted this decision ?
Evil: Well I'm looking for someone with ultimate speed, diversity and personality within drumming. I really liked my ex-drummers work, but he moved to far away from my hometown and is currently in the military too so I saw that it would be impossible to work with him anymore, specially when his other projects took a lot of time away from Archimage. I have talked with a few applicants abroad and one of them seems promising but in the perfect world the drummer would live in my hometown or somewhere pretty near so we could do live rehearsals and maybe even some live gigs one day.

Nocturna: With the unique insight you have from your experiences as a band and a solo artist, which form of musicianship (ie band or solo artist) do you prefer and why ?
Evil: That is a pretty hard question. Maybe a band, where everyone obeys everything I ask them to do. Hehehe..!! But seriously, I truly enjoy the freedom of creating music alone, though I prefer to have people around me playing it for the potential gigs.

Nocturna: The debut ep shows the initial progression of Archimage, which direction are you intending to take the full length album as you have developed greatly in these last few years ?
Evil: For the full length albumI am trying to use the songs that I find to be the most defining Archimage material created to date. The EP has some rather clear thrash/death metal influences, whilst the full length shall be pure melodic black metal. And by "melodic" I don't mean any crappy power metal ego-boost-soloing, but atmospheric riffs in the spirit of bands like Emperor and Taake (without synths). The EP doesn't really even give that good a picture of what's to come since the newer material has so much more diversity in it but I am glad that the songs I write now don't sound the same as the material written three years ago. So in a nutshell, the album shall be very dark and brutal, yet really atmospheric and majestic.

Nocturna: To begin with you practiced covers and then started to work on your own material, can you talk us through the lyrical process you use, possibly in the context of your work for the full length album ?
Evil: The lyrical process has become harder for me during the passing of years. I had written poetry etc. for years before playing guitar at all and during the first years with the band the lyrics were pretty easy to write for me compared to writing music. These days as I feel like I have learnt to express the things I used to express through words by notes, and thus it is really hard to add anything verbal there. Typically I just collect the ideas that come to my mind (for example in a bus or at work) to my cell-phones calendar and then write those down at home. From those pieces of ideas, that can merely be a theme of some lyrics or few lines of text, I start to build complete lyrics when I get inspired at home. Sometimes I write the lyrics the same moment I invent some new riff, but that's pretty rare these days.

Nocturna: Obviously there are many influences within your work, and you have been influenced by many people, musicians and philosophies, how do you incorporate all of this into your atmospheric sound ?
Evil: I don't really know, it just.. happens? I don't really think about anything too consciously when I write new music. I mean, the current mood that I'm in when I play guitar naturally effects my work, but in general I just kind of sink to my own world when I play. I can basically do it for hours without noticing anything happening around me or the time passing at all. All the influences that are somewhere in my subconscious are just incorporate somehow in a very natural process and come out as new music. If I try to write something intentionally the outcome is usually pretty crappy. So if I want to make a new song that is anyway decent, I just need to wait for the inspiration to attack. Thus at times I can write three songs in a week or just one song within three months, the timeline between differs a lot with me.

Nocturna: Currently you have begun a long awaited project in the form of your personal memoirs and philosophies, you take the stance of an atheist, how are the initial plans for the book coming along and what can we expect from it ?
Evil: The book project is on a hiatus at the moment, but whenever I get new ideas for it I write them down just as I do the lyrical ideas for my songs. I'm so occupied with my music projects right now that I don't have time for the book, but I hope to get it ready one day. It might be 2010 or 2020 when I get it finished, but I want to do it because writing about philosophical matters makes you look at them from new angles that you haven't even thought of before. So to me, besides writing, that project is also a lot about learning and seeing things more clearly than before. The main idea of the book is to indicate the irrational madness and stupidity of religiousness with rational examples and to demonstrate more reasonable ways of thinking than believing in higher powers. Nothing new in general, but hopefully a fresh point of view on those matters.

Nocturna: Recently you decided that you latest album would not be produced in a studio, how did this come about and what are the advantages of where you are producing the album now?
Evil: This idea was closely related to turning Archimage into a solo-project. After we got the third cancellation of free studio times with the band still having more members than just myself, I just decided to do it all myself. Play all the instruments and produce the music at home so all the delays would be because of me and not because of any drunken producers breaking their bones only a few days before planned studio time. I also like the freedom of home recording since now I got endless time to work on the songs instead of rushing it somehow together within few hours. Many of the tracks on the EP are not being built from separate takes with any lame pro-tools mixing, but played once from the beginning until the end. It took damn many takes with some songs and there are some minor mistakes there (that I hope only I can hear heheheh) but this way I think it has a much more vivid sound, and shows that I am a really musician. Some of the tracks are mixed from two or three takes, but there is a huge difference between that and making a copy-paste song with perfect riffs on the computer screen.

Nocturna: As yet there are no current plans for Archimage to go on tour, in this new year 2008 do you see a possibility of bring your sound into live performances that so many of your fans are crying out for ?
Evil: Doing a live gig with Archimage is pretty unlikely to happen, but it's possible in theory. As I personally hate to do vocals and play guitar at the same time, I'd need to find some really talented session members for two guitars, and a bassist and a drummer too. So maybe not during this year but it could happen one day since the idea of a live performance has recently started to interest me a lot more than before.

Nocturna: With all that you have learnt from your experiences what advice would you give to others in a similar position to yourself ?
Evil: I start to sound like a broken record with this one, but all I can say is that you must never give up with your dreams. It doesn't really matter what some "experts" or anyone says about the music you make. When you are making the kind of music you'd personally like to listen too, nothing else really matters. It's very likely to be liked by some others then too, if the case is you aren't completely tone deaf.

Nocturna: Finally do you have a special message for the fans and new fans reading this ?
Evil: Well, the EP's printing has been delayed, but it's going to be printed as soon as possible when I have all the needed paperwork done for it. So the people who have pre-ordered it, please have some patience you will get your copy. And for everyone else, keep your ears open for the full length later this year and the possible split album too. The material on those two will astonish you all, I guarantee that!

INTERVIEWER OLA (AXBM)
EVIL -ARCHIMAGE - FROM TAMPERE FINLAND

- All instrumentation, created, writer of black metal music by
Evil himself.

1.) What do you think about the music which you you playing
right now, why black metal ?

-Well, it just came naturally when I started playing guitar some years ago. The black metal music just runs through my veins, it's atmosphere is very unique if you compare it with other music genres. In many other genres it often seems like the music is just about who can play the fastest guitarCsolos or some other technical ego boosting but in black metal it's all about the feeling and atmosphere, or at least for me it is.

2.) Beside your music, what kind of music do you love
to listen? And which bands do you like?

-Emperor has been my favorite band for a long time, their music made me grab the guitar in the first place. In general I can't really name any genres that I'd particularly listen 'cause I listen to everything that I find to be good. My heart beats for black metal but there are so many crappy bm bands and bands that people associate to be black metal that really aren't so I prefer to merely name bands instead of genres. So other than Emperor, I listen to bands like Darkthrone, Mercyful Fate, Behexen, Taake, 1349, Slayer, Type O Negative, System Of A Down, The Prodigy ..to name a few from different genres too. I also like some classical music a lot.

3.) How do you guys organize "you music, solo, creative, own
rhythms, and why black metal " in the
beginning?

-In the beginning when Archimage wasn't my solo project I was a bit of a tyrant in the band anyway. I have made all of the songs and lyrics pretty much always and thus I have taken the right to guide Archimage to the path that it's going at the moment.

4.) Let's talk about your upcoming release , what do you wanna
express through this EP?

-This debut EP of Archimage is about to be printed during this month or January 2008. It's going to be a hand-numbered limited edition and it's also pretty much sold out already with pre-orders (if I don't rise the amount of the copies a bit). The four songs on the EP are kind of "the best of the old days". The four best songs I wrote between 2004-2006 and thus some of the songs have more thrash influences, some are a bit death metal styled, but all are pure Archimage songs anyway. I was still searching my style when I wrote those but I thought that the songs were good enough to deserve to be recorded before I begin with recording the newer material. The goal with this EP is to let people know that a band called Archimage exists and to give a tiny glimpse of the upcoming glory of the full album.

5.) Would you tell us the Goal of your band near future?

-After the EP is printed I shall proceed with the first full album or with another EP or a split with some other band. For the full album I might want to have some really good session drummer to make it perfect. Then again I just went through some of my old riff books and discovered 3-5 old songs more that I had almost forgotten. Because I'd really like to record those too at some point, I might do an EP or a split with those songs if I won't find a suitable drummer for the album soon enough. Time shall tell that one.

6.) Would you tell us your Metal gear?

-Sure. My precious blasphemy axe is an old Peavey Predator that I have covered with pages torn from the xtian hymn book. My bass is a simple Washburn Taurus, but it's good enough for me at this point. Then I got some pedals from Zoom and Digitech, and Dunlop's Tortex guitar pics are the best for some serious tremolo picking!

7.) What kind of band you been influence by and why?

-When I started playing guitar bands like Emperor, Mercyful Fate and Slayer were really important to me and you could hear it from the very first songs that I wrote very well. Darkthrone influenced me a lot during those days too. But now that I have found my own sound the influences might not be as obvious anymore (I hope) but I assume that they will always be there in the background. My main goal is to write the kind of music I'd like to listen and I really like to listen the bands I mentioned before so I can't really avoid sounding a bit like them.

8.) Beside Uk, how do you think of Canadian Metal scene,
what do you think about Canadian Black metal?

-Well, I got to admit that the Canadian scene is a bit unfamiliar to me. I've heard a few bands that I remember to be Canadian and they had some rather atmospheric music but I can't recall the bands name now. I know that I got some serious lacks of knowledge on some parts of the world with their bm scene when the same time I know too much about some other countries scene. Hahahah.

9.) What do you think about American and European black
Metal Scene?
-To me the European black metal is the best one, like black metal from Norway, Finland, France etc. and I mostly listen to European black metal. The American scene has some amazing bands too, but there's also a lot of bullshit going on there. Like people main goal is to get money with it and that's pretty wrong place to start with black metal. And I'm not saying that you shouldn't make money with black metal, but that shouldn't be the point of it. But I guess these days it's pretty much all the same anywhere, people doing black metal for "fame" and money (and black metal is so wrong genre for that).

10.) What is your Hobbies, i see you are into writing book
about atheism and individualism can tell me more about
it !!!!

-Well I have planned about writing a book about my life philosophies and thoughts in general for many years and now I have finally started it for real. Since the music takes most of my time I can't write it too often but I try to keep the project alive all the time. I might get ready with it like 2010 or 2020 but anyway now than I have told people about it I feel that I really need to complete it one day and I'm pretty excited about that. Otherwise I don't really have time for hobbies if you don't count music as a hobby 'cause it takes all of my time when I'm not working, sleeping or boozing. *laughs*

11.) What do you think about Asia? For example: Japan,
Korea, China or Hong Kong.

-I think that Asia has some great potential in the metal music in general. There are many dedicated fans there and some rising bands too. I have also noticed that for some reason Finnish metal is very popular there and I can't complain about that one.

12.) Hey, say something to your fans from Italy, Uk,US or Canada or worldwide.

-I really appreciate all the support that I am getting worldwide these days and I just can't wait to introduce the full albums material to the audience one day. It will be something worth waiting, I can promise that already!

13) Are you planning in Touring or spreading you music
worldwide.

-Well I have pretty twisted attitude towards live gigs. I might want to play guitar with some other band or sing in some other band for live gigs, but since I'm doing both in Archimage it's not very likely to happen, not at least in near future. That's just 'cause I hate doing those simultaneously and can't see myself letting someone else to do vocals or lead guitars in Archimage. But I won't completely deny the idea either. And for the releases I hope that my music spreads as much as possible, it's great to get feedback from some places really far away, even if it's like "your music sucks ass" because even that is so much better than "it's ok, just fine". World is full of bands that are just "ok", neutral, blanco etc. so if someone hates your music, there is a good chance that someone will love it too. Unless the music sucks ass completely! *laughs*

14)What would you say, with your experience to all new
musicians coming in metal scene to help them out or to
get ready for what?

-I don't think that I am at any position to give advices to anyone, but I know that if you really want to make it you need to work really hard for it. Make sacrifices and get ready to be disappointed numerous time. Many give up, but I'm not going to end up being one of those bitter people who had a dream but didn't make it happen. You need to be very realistic too, and careful. If you are too naive, you will get ripped of before you even know it. I have had some serious struggles with Archimage but I've never even thought about giving up and finally now after the band has existed almost four years the first EP is recorded and ready to be printed. If you live for your art and got a huge longing for creating new music, you know that you can't stop.
