Executive Producer MARIA MENOUNOS tells The Huffington Post the story of her personal journey alongside Writer/Director KEVEN UNDERGARO during the making of In the Land of Merry Misfits at ! From the article: But in the midst of it all, [Keven] also managed to do one little thing. He cut a reel for me when he heard that Channel One News was looking for anchors. Even with nothing to offer, he found a way to offer something. Well, I got the job but there was no way I was gonna allow a talent like Keven's go to waste. Those other "actors" whom Keven made weren't merely leaches - they were dumb. My God were they dumb. Not this Greek!

Filmstar Randall Malone is a truly prolific actor, having starred in over 14 films in the past two years alone! A familiar face to lovers of Independent Horror and Sci-fi, Mr. Malone's association with this project began over 10 years ago when Keven Undergaro cast him for the MTV dating show " Singled Out". The show's offbeat flavor -- and Undergaro's zany brand of comedy -- were a perfect match for Randal, and he shined in the shows' absurdist sketches. A beautiful, bizarre refugee from an alternate universe where the "Golden Age of Film Stars" never ended -- but just got more colorful and freaky -- Randal seems to represent a world before Brangelina, a simpler time when only A-list stars got the good pills, and child labor was plentiful and afforadable. When Keven came up with the idea for In the Land of Merry Misfits, Randal was the perfect choice to play Monchichi, owner and operator of Mother Hubbard's Auto Parts, a mother hen type with traditional values -- and an apetite for neon-blue and pink jumpsuits. Randal's southern charm is as infectious his outfits are fabulous, and we're proud of his performances and his dedication during these long 10 years of production! Remembering Fred Berry
Excerpted from producers' statements:
We got to know Fred "Rerun" Berry pretty late in the game. In the summer of 2003, Fred was brought on board for one of the many reshoots of In the Land of Merry Misfits, and everybody in the cast and crew was psyched. We all knew Fred from his 70s TV work on "What's Happening", and we were thrilled to have him become a part of our project.
Over our 10+ year struggle to make this film, those who had stuck in it for the long haul had developed a kind of "in the trenches" mentality. We were doggedly loyal to each other, and also to "The Quest" -- to finish the film that we had worked so hard on, and spent so much of our life trying to make possible. The funny thing was, Mr. Berry immediately became a part of that "Band of Brothers", and really understood what we were trying to do. He got that we were striving to make something for the misunderstood and the freaks, and he pledged himself to that vision without hesitation, turning in some great work and nailing it like the pro that he was.
Fred's presence in our lives was brief -- he died of complications from a stroke only months after we filmed his scenes -- but his enthusiasm and love reinvigorated our spirits and helped our little production limp towards our goal.
When In the Land of Merry Misfits shines on the screen in Tribeca, it will be due in no small part to Mr. Fred Berry's generosity as an actor, comedian and friend.
We will miss your stories around the craft services table, Fred.
Fred Berry, Mar 13, 1951 - Oct 21, 2003 Rest in Peace

Bob Backlund, Professional Wrestling superstar and role model, plays Friar Chuck in In the Land of Merry Misfits! Mr. Backlund kicks major ass in this role (literally and figuratively), and his perfomance will surely delight both fans of his wrestling work and those who haven't yet witnessed the spectacle that is Mr. Bob Backlund!
