"Most people will never know what they want.  I don't know what I want.  The question you should be asking isn't, 'What do I want? or 'What are my goals?' but 'What would excite me?'"

- The 4-Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferris

For the first time since I can remember (about 4th grade), I don't have any keys.  I don't have a car key, an apartment key, work keys.  Nothing.  No keys.  It's actually quite weird and at the same time very liberating.

What sparked this you may ask?

I read Timothy Ferris' book The 4- Hour Work Week about a year ago and it changed my life.  I was on a path to burnout.  When I read his book, it breathed a new life into me.

So I asked myself "What would excite me?"  The only thing that came to mind was traveling.  Thus, I began my journey.

I have sold or gave away almost of my stuff.  My furniture, my car, my old suits, basically everything but personal heirlooms.  You can see the picture of what I now own under my Fiji pictures.

Fiji you ask?  Yes, Fiji.  I just booked my flight to Fiji for 4 months.  Keep checking in on my blog to see my adventures.  More to come....

If you had one wish, what would it be?

I asked this to a homeless man in Oceanside, CA by the name of Danny.  Danny told me, "To go home."  When I asked him what was stopping him, he said, "I guess just fear."  I told him that no matter what had happened I was sure that someone missed him and he should call home.  I then pulled out my cell phone and asked him, "Who would you like to call?"  He looked at me and with a tear in his eye, he said, "My wife, Effie."  After a short 10-minute conversation with his wife, Danny decided to go home after being on the streets for 8 months.

What I learned from this experience is that often times the things I take for granted like a cell phone and 15 minutes of my time can alter someone's life.  After Danny hung up the phone with his wife, he shared with me that he had prayed to the Lord that day to take him out of this world.

In his eyes, I got to be an angel in that moment.  But who knows, maybe Danny was really the angel testing me.

Thanks, Danny.

What are you taking for granted?  Who's the Danny in your life?
