Join Bawn in the Mash and friends for our 4th annual Cluckin' and Pluckin' outside Murray, KY. Music starts at noon and goes until 1am. Potluck dinner, byob, and camping available, all FREE. Tshirts will be available day of show.

Howdy friends. Just a heads up to let ya'll know of a couple great upcoming shows we have planned to promote the 4th Annual Cluckin' and Pluckin' Festival (Oct 10th).
October 1st and 2nd we will have Larry Keel & Natural Bridge performing with us in Western Kentucky.
October 1st we will be at the Big Apple Cafe in Murray, KY. Show starts at 8:30pm and is a 21+ venue.
October 2nd we will be at home in Paducah, at the legendary Hotel Irvin Cobb Ballroom downtown. This is an all ages event starting at 9pm.

Hey good lookin' folks of western kentucky-
PBS is coming to film Bawn in the Mash's next two performances, plus a tour of Paducah!
Come support the boys tonight at the Big Apple- PBS is making a documentary about the band and its western Kentucky roots- they wanted to see where it all started. tuck your shirts in, show starts at 9pm. tomorrow night 7:30-9pm opening for Uncle Vince Herman and Great American Taxi!

Doc Watson Guitar Championship

 

1st Place - Tyler Grant from Nashville, Tennessee

2nd Place - Tony Watt from Schenectady, New York

3rd Place - Fred Duggin from Nashville, Tennessee

 

This year's judges were:  Mitch Greenhill, Jack Lawrence, and 2008 Doc Watson Guitar Championship winner Seth Taylor.  Prizes were:  Grand Prize/First Place - Gallagher guitar and case, valued at $3200, one set of John Pearse strings, $300 cash and a performance on the Cabin Stage on Saturday, April 25; Second Place - Taylor 310 guitar, full featured with cutaway and electronics and valued at $2000, one set of John Pearse strings and $200 cash; Third Place - Calton guitar case, valued at $895, one set of John Pearse strings and $50 cash. 

 

The Doc Watson Guitar Championship was sponsored by Taylor Guitars, Gallagher Guitars, John Pearse Strings, In Memory of Bruce Sanders, and 1-800-Bluegrass.

 

The instrument contests were open to paid MerleFest ticket holders.  Twenty registrants were randomly selected to participate in each contest.  Contestants were judged on arrangement, execution and tuning, spirit, and overall impression.
