Hello! Earlier in the year, we had some negotiations with a couple of promoters in the UK for a possible short tour in November. As we could not come to a satisfactory deal, we backed out and decided to try for next year instead. Now, for whatever reason we don't know, some of these promoters decided to go ahead and publish information about GS playing their town, some even went as far as making flyers. This was way before any deals were closed, so we had them remove this false info as quick as we possibly could as soon as we found out. Now it seems that there's still some of this info floating around, which we're not responsible for and needless to say, it shouldn't be out there since we're not touring the UK in November. So, in conclusion: if the info is not posted here and on our official website www.generalsurgery.se, the show is NOT happening. Sorry for the inconvenience and hope this will clear things up. We will try to set up some UK shows next year, and as soon as we have anything ready you will know through us. Thanks

Just a quick note to let you know that Corpus In Extremis: Analysing Necrocriticism will be released in the US on the 7th of April, distributed by Koch Entertainment. Same tracklist as the European version.

Only on CD for now, so you vinyl freaks will probably have to get the LP directly from Listenable when it comes out. More info on the LP release date soon.

This is a nice press quote that sums it all up...

* “Makes me long for the days of really independent extreme music
before Myspace and videos…thank you, General Surgery, for bringing
those thoughts and feeling back to mind” – Absolute Zero Media webzine

//The Surgeons
http://www.generalsurgery.se

More press quotes:

* “The catchy groove of the title track is a treat; the atavistic,
lo-fi crust ‘n’ burble of every other song is even better” – Revolver
[4/5 rating]

* “By the third song, however, it sounds as if, in addition to
their continued suckling at CARCASS’ teat, they’ve read Daniel
Ekeroth’s Swedish Death Metal and had a patriotic flame ignited. What
else explains the whipping out of classic death metal and death ‘n’
roll riffs ala ENTOMBED and DISMEMBER in energetic, propulsive
barn-burners like ‘Ichor’ and ‘Plexus Necrosis’? Let’s not forget the
barrage of bend-happy and bluesy solos” – Decibel

* “These morticians are from the early NAPALM DEATH school of
brevity, the blood-spattered CARCASS medical (text) book of lyrics
(and accompanying visuals), with a healthy dose of tongue firmly
planted in cheek…old-school fun!” – Bravewords.com

* “You want brutal? I mean, REALLY brutal? Then look no further
than the latest from gore soaked death metal act General Surgery…a
pulverizing concoction of violent death metal, and one of the heaviest
things I have heard in a while” – Seaoftranquility.org

* “One listen to this masterpiece of brutality and you will be
hooked…Fans of old-school Swedish death metal that is filthy, raw and
just plain sick must get this release now!” – Minacious webzine

General Surgery/Butcher ABC split is finally released.

The story goes back all the way to 2003 (!) when we got asked by then Escorbuto Recordings president Johan Wallin if we would be interested in doing a split with japanese gore maniacs Butcher ABC.. Naturally we were, and we planned to do it pretty much right after the split 7"s we did with Machetazo and Filth. After that, things got changed up and we found ourselves working on our first album instead, and it wasn't until May 2007 we got around to finally record the songs for this split. By this time it was decided that the release would be handled by Obliteration Records and Living Dead Society/Coperaction Records.
Butcher ABC followed suit and recorded their material later in 2007, and finally here's the result, the most anticipated split release ever. Feast your ears on this putrid mess..

Info:

- CD out on Obliteration on Jan 11th 2009. Contact address: grindrock@hotmail.com. Website: www.obliteration.jp

- LP out on Living Dead Society/Coperaction Records, February 2009. Vinyl 12" LP version is a limited edition to 1000 copies in splatter vinyl, with different cover/artwork from the CD version.

Corpus In Extremis: Analysing Necrocriticism

Guitars galore!

Dr Carlsson started out the day with testing a couple of different amps we had brought with us, settling on his old trusty Marshall JCM 800 for the guitar overdubs. No extra distortion needed, just the lead channel on maximum gain did the trick in combination with the sound from the 1st guitar track, which was a Peavey 6505 amp using the rhythm channel. Roughly 5 hours later and 21 songs were in the bag.

After some more amp testing and sound tweaking, Dr Wallin started on his rhythm guitar overdubs using his Crate Blue Voodoo amp. We'll do as much as we can tonight, and continue tomorrow with some more guitars. Hopefully we can start working on a phat bass sound as well.

Too much work today so still no new pics, hope to get some more up tomorrow.

Stay clean!

Finished up the remaining drum takes before lunch, we also re-did a couple of takes from yesterday that we felt we could do better. Then we listened to all of the songs to decide if there was any patching up to do and made some notes for later.

We then went on to tackle our Repulsion cover "Maggots in your Coffin" for the first time ever, and after a couple of rehearsal takes we nailed it!

Next on the agenda was guitar overdubs and Dr Wallin went to work first, then it was time for some string abuse from Dr Carlsson. Around 22.00 we decided to call it a night and continue on with more guitar overdubs tomorrow.

So, 20 songs plus one cover song down. Not too bad for two days work!

There's pics from today but we'll upload them tomorrow. Stay tuned.

So, we're starting to record our yet untitled album today. 20 songs of total gore.

Yesterday night, we delivered our rented drum kit plus a shitload of gear from our rehearsal room to Off Beat Studio. After setting up the drums, we did a quick drum sound check and everything sounded good right away. We also plugged in the guitar amps since we're gonna record drums plus the rhythm guitars live.

1st day today, we got some help from studio owner Anders to make everything work, soundcheck the guitars and make some adjustments to the drums. After we got everything working, he left on our own to start recording. Bass player Andreas will pull double duty as recording engineer for this album.

After about 9 hrs in the studio, we had 13 out of 20 songs down and a couple of more which we'll redo tomorrow along with the rest of the songs. So far, things are sounding pretty filthy, nasty and gore soaked!

Pics from the setup night and day 1 here.

Stay tuned for more gore tomorrow..
