Also, i've been doing alot of updating at my new website ( it's still www.matttheelectrician.com)...and there are diary entries, reviews of the new CD, links to friends, and photo galleries of recent tours on the Look page........
And now, back to work.....
hope you are all well....

I'm not really going to hit you Dallas, i'm just going to play a show there....and really, even if you hit me first, i tend to turn the other cheek.....so i'm looking forward to a violence-free night of songer songwriters, the way our creator intended.....and just so you know, i believe that we were created in a laboratory by an evil scientist named malcolm (he likes to use all lowercase when writing his name, cause hey, what's the big whup?).......now that i believe we are on the same page, here's some friendly reminders about the week to come......
Tonight, Flipnotics, with Southpaw Jones, where the title of the week is "My Purple Friend"......ummmm, yeah.....
Thursday, Jo's Coffee on South Congress, Rock n Reel.....come see us play at 7pm, and then stick around for one of my favorite movies of all time, Alfred Hitchcock's, "Rear Window".....scary......
Friday, Dallas, Opening Bell-Mosaic, An Anju Gill Show....John Lefler of Dashboard Confessional opens, then i play, and then Salim Nourallah....should be a great night of music, and it's FREE.......
Saturday, Wyldwood House Concerts, A Songs For Laura Benefit....(details below) much music including Libby Kirkpatrick, Ben Mallott, Forest Sun, and much more.....
And one more thing....i am now on Twitter....i know...."he won't join Facebook, but Twitter's ok??"....i hear you, but i have to say, i kinda like it.....so, if you too are part of the evil empire of tweets, then check me out....my Twitter name is MattTheE ........
see you soon....
in malcolm we trust, matt (show details below)

So, remember when i came back to Austin from a trip to The Northwest about 7 years ago?...and i started covering some songs from an unknown band from Portland called The Decemberists?....and i said, "you guys should check this band out if they ever put out a full length CD?".....and i said, "on the off chance that they ever play in Austin, you should see them, trust me"??.....remember that??....that was awesome...
And remember when my friend Seela played me this CD she loved, that was by a band called The Weepies, and then she played at Flipnotics with them, and then i met them, and then the next time they came through town they asked if i would co-bill with them at Flipnotics, and i told you all to trust me, and come out to the show??...remember that??....that too was aweome....
So, in no way do i mean to gloat....i only want to show that there are precedents that clearly prove that trusting me implicitly is the best way to go about your day to day lives.....and with all that being said, i need to ask you, have you ever heard Sean Hayes?....he's from San Francisco...and he's awesome......and he's only one of the 6 awesome artists that i have lined up to play with me at my very first annual, Matt The Electrician's Island Of Lost Souls; a one day music festival......i need you, once again, to trust me on this one.......perhaps in the past, when i have requested that you trust me, you have thought to yourself, "well, maybe matt's right, but i really have to wash my hair that night, and i'm sure i'll be able to catch The Decemberists the next time they're in town playing at the soup kitchen for free......".......and that's all i'm going to say on the matter.....trust me.....
Also, although tickets to this magical festival are available at Waterloo Records, and The Spider House, and at the door on the day of the show....they are now also available online, as a featured product at www.futurecraftcollective.com/shop .......for those of you who prefer to do your ticket shopping from the comfort of your home or mobile computing device, we have you covered........
Thank you for reading this far.....a few other things this week....Tonight, The Saxon Pub with the band......Also Tonight, i will be playing a couple of songs at Southpaw Jones Bruce Springsteen Tribute Night at The Cactus Cafe.......and Thursday, Flipnotics Coffeespace with Southpaw Jones, where the title of the week is "Linen Patches"........and finally, Saturday, Matt The Electrician's Island Of Lost Souls; a one day music festival, at The United States Art Authority (right behind The Spider House at 29th and Fruth near Guadalupe) (many details below)......
once again, trust me, matt (show details below)

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to The Cactus Cafe on Monday night....and thank you for trusting that there would be something good, even though i could not tell you what it was ahead of time......and thank you thank you thank you to all the musicians who played.....it was an incredible night, and you all made Griff very happy.....and most of all, Graham Weber, who co-organized the whole thing with me, and did so much damn work, it was truly awesome of him (you're awesome Graham)
For those who weren't there, we had a surprise appreciation party for Griff Luneberg (has run/booked The Cactus Cafe in Austin for the last 25 some odd years)....it was a 4 hour show with so much great music (Libby Kirkpatrick, Rich Brotherton, Ed Miller, Betty Soo, Slaid Cleaves, Jon Dee Graham, Graham Weber, Abi Tapia, Bruce Robison, Nathan Hamilton, Abra Moore, Beaver Nelson, Colin Gilmore, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Mike Nicolai, Gurf Morlix, Sam Baker, Ray Bonneville, Southpaw Jones, Michael Fracasso, Jimmy Lafave, Susan Gibson, Leatherbag, David Garza, Gary Graves, Ethan Azarian, Darryl Gleason, Warren Hood, Scrappy Jud Newcomb, Jeff Johnston)
I just love this city so much....but more than that, i love this music community....4 hours, lots of musicians, much schedule shuffling, not everything timed out like i had planned, and there was zero complaining....zero ego.......everyone just helping out to do something nice for someone who runs one of the best acoustic listening rooms in the country.......
Thanks Griff

So i hope that you have not forgotten that i'm running for president......the campaign is just getting started, and i think we should have some great momentum by early 2009, when you can vote for me......remember, i am the only candidate with the guts to run in 2009, when no one else is running...i realize that there is a slightly less important election next week, but i'm not about right now...i'm about the future....like, the really far future....so, please remember to vote....all the time....forever......i love you.....
I will kick off the campaign tonight, at Flipnotics at the Triangle, right here in Austin, with my lovely running mate Southpaw Jones.....the primary voters in Austin have chosen a title for us to write a song to, and i believe that we are up to the challenge..the title is "Love's Cab Takes Me To Dark Places".......Monday, at The Saxon Pub, i will be supported by my band (and eventual cabinet), and we will give you some bad ass policy reform rhetoric in the form of rock 'n roll...sweet, sweet rock 'n roll......
After that, i will head west with my campaign advisor, Scrappy Jud Newcomb....we will play many shows.....a majority of those shows will be played with our good friend, and current ambassador to Entouragia, Tom Freund....also joining us for a few campaign rallies will be the mayor of Awesomeville, Danny Malone.....
There are many details below, and if you want to come to any of the House Concerts listed, please RSVP with the appropriate e-mail address (listed below)

My daughter is getting chickens for her birthday.....not like a bucket of fried chciken, but rather real live breathing, egg-laying chickens!!......so, i'm building a chicken coop....and Nathan Hamilton helped me yesterday, cause he's a better carpenter than i.....and we discovered that Danny Barnes is good music to build a chicken coop to......i highly recommend it if you're in a music to build chicken coops to bind.....and really, who isn't....metaphorically.......or literally.......
Also, added a new song today....Animal Boy.....hope you like it......

I think i will begin a tradition...a time during the year, perhaps in the hottest part of the year, when children will take a break from school, and adults will take some time off from their jobs....and it will become normal for people to travel to places other than their homes....and perhaps they will visit relatives, or friends, and just have some "down time", as people will begin to say now that i have coined the phrase......yes, i think i will begin a tradition.....
So, with that in mind, i send this message to all of you on my list....it will begin with some shows in my own town of Austin....from there, i will travel to the Bay Area in California...then to Southern California....eventually making my way to the Northern parts of Oregon.....at this time there are also some unconfirmed reports that i may be in Alaska, and possibly an additional show in Los Angeles (i will send you another e-mail later if this comes to pass)....and for those of you in other parts of the country, i will be playing at the Flat Rock Music Festival in North Carolina in September, with other area shows around the same time....later, there will be some travel to the Midwest and the East Coast, stay tuned....
Additionally, the show in Marin County is open to the public, just e-mail KC Turner to RSVP (e-mail below)....and, the title of the week this week at Flipnotics with Southpaw Jones is "Charity"......
Also, one more thing.....i just visited Japan for my second time, and have posted one video on YouTube that mostly features my traveling partner and fellow musician, Bruce Hughes....i will be posting another video soon...check it out.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LW8_ByhQPM
and i will call it "Summer Vacation", matt (show details below)
