Formed in 1997, Baltimore USA’s Stout continue the fine tradition of distinctive choppy, brutal
hardcore that has come from that city.
Drawing on a wide range of influences, Stout manages to be incredibly heavy yet diverse. They
move effortlessly from fast straight up style HC to brutal beatdowns, and menacing, dirge-like
hymns of hate and revenge.
As if this wasn’t enough, their apocalyptic onslaught is topped off with some of the most unique
lyrical content and vocal delivery, courtesy of TAD, who is also one of the scariest looking
motherfuckers whilst onstage, spitting out bitter tales of betrayal, murder and straight up insanity.
The only thing left to say is that mere words do little to describe the unrelenting fury that Stout
unleashes. The last word in heavy hardcore? We think so…
Stout, Baltimore USA’s hardest, return with their second full-length release, once again flipping the
whole concept of heavy hardcore completely on its head.
‘Sleep Bitch’ is a truly unstoppable mix of raging, fast old-style hardcore, so well-written and
immediately classic that it will instantly lodge itself in your mind.
The other end of Stout’s unique sound is their unbelievably heavy and doom-laden slower edge
- witness how the band effortlessly crosses from the upbeat ‘Emissaries’ to the crushing metallic
onslaught of ’She’.
The crazed lyrical vision of TAD somehow surpasses even the psychotic mood of their debut.
Truly one of the most adventurous and unique voices in modern hardcore, his offbeat and war-like
delivery is completely fresh and undeniably menacing.
Overall, ‘Sleep Bitch’ is the definition of raw, savage and menacing heavy hardcore, tailor-made to
leave a trail of dance floor devastation in its wake.

With a predominantly South London based line-up, Kartel possess a brutal urban groove which
viciously pounds through their songs. Generally influenced by the New York or New Jersey style of
heavy hardcore, the band blend a wide mix of influences to create a unique but unmistakably London
brand of hardcore. Kartel’s music is undoubtedly a landmark in brutal yet technical originality -
elements of hip-hop and thrash metal combine with the band’s distinctive groove and off-beat,
inimitable breakdowns to create a truly incomparable sound. Pete and DBS’s raw but clear vocal
styles effectively contrast and mesh, spitting bitter tales of hatred, social-injustice and revenge.
Staunchly original and heavy hardcore from South London, off-key rhythms and devastating dual
vocals crossed with insane metallic leads.
South London’s Kartel bring something truly unique to the table with their long awaited full-length
‘Rise of the Guttersnipe’. Based in heavy hardcore, the ideas the band have brought in from outside
the traditional bring a fresh new outlook to what can be a tired genre if not done right. Whilst
drawing inspiration from hip-hop and thrash metal is nothing out of the ordinary in this day and
age, the way the band applies these influences truly sets them apart.
With their distinctive tempos, deceptive breaks and constant groove, Kartel have next to no reliance
on what you would expect, yet can still hit you with the basic smack round the head that the title
track delivers. Rammed with ferocious dance-parts and caustic (yet occasionally melodic) vocals,
the music on ‘Rise of the Guttersnipe’ sounds just as inspirational as its title.

TRC are an 8 man wrecking machine from North West London, formed in the spring of 2003. Drawing
on influences from all over and combining harsh, street influenced hatecore with strict underground
UK hip hop, they have a sound like no other.
Recent line-up changes, including drummer Chris Tyson switching to vocals, and the addition of
Taking Names drummer Matt and Bun Dem Out guitarist Charlie have not dented their hard-hitting
and furious live onslaught. Featuring 3 singers and some spitting courtesy of AC, which never fails
to ignite the crowd and gain them attention, this is far more than your run-of-the-mill played out
rapcore.
With a far more to-the-point delivery than their contemporaries, and uniquely arrogant attitude and
subject matter, TRC breathe new life into a genre that is difficult to excel at, and have created a
distinctive identity and a sound that is sure to bring chaos to dance floors far and wide.
The long overdue debut full-length from North West London’s TRC, ‘Destroy and Rebuild’ delivers
10 furious and to-the-point tracks that come out swinging and don’t let up. Back with a revamped
line-up, the band have in no way compromised their legendary arrogant attitude and delivery, and
they most definitely have the skills to musically back this up.
TRC’s sound is brutal, stripped down to basics heavy hardcore. Not a note is wasted, yet there is
still room for occasional moments of intricate musicianship amongst the frantic bursts of speed
and monstrous breakdowns, whilst the four-way vocal attack ensures variety and depth.
The band also present a different approach to blending rap and hardcore, as their addition of this
to the mix never compromises the intensity of the music or detracts from its primal power. The fact
that it is adapted to the relentless pounding tempo of the music keeps things from descending into
typical rapcore cliché.
As ‘Destroy and Rebuild’ ushers in a new era for TRC, the band have at last delivered the album that
the insanity of their live performance has always threatened us with, a defiant smack to the face
that really does define cocky and dares you to challenge this.

Formed in 2005, Providence come from the depths of filthy Paris and play dark and brutal hardcore,
full of crushing breakdowns. Since their beginning the band sought to innovate rather than imitate,
intending to create a combination of social/political awareness and aggression. Feeling that
hardcore had strayed from its roots and DIY ethic into subgenres like Emo and chaotic metal, a
good, basic, heavy sound is their aim.
Providence’s style is huge, metallic and epic, yet manages to be efficient and straight up at the same
time. A low and thick dual guitar sound is underpinned by intense double-bass drumming, mostly
switching between mid-tempo and punishing breakdowns but occasionally breaking into full-on
bursts of hardcore speed. The hoarse-growled vocals that complete this already potent formula
are complimented by monstrous gang backups, spitting out venom on a variety of topics including
politics, economy and the craziness of the world, yet maintaining a poetic turn of phrase.
Providence’s violent and energetic live shows, to-the-point music and thought provoking, bleak,
reflective lyrics never fail to impress live audiences. With the quintet always eager to hit the road,
their fanbase is constantly expanding outside of their city and country, forging a blazing path of
hardcore force and brutality that France hasn’t produced in quite some time.
Paris’ Providence destroy everything in their path with 7 tracks of monstrous metallic fury on their
debut MCD ‘Far Beyond Our Depth’. Total new school hardcore brutality filled with devastating
beatdowns and crushing mid-tempo stomp parts, Providence’s downtuned mix of basic bludgeoning
aggression and more complex structures conjures up a dark and bleak vision.
Sure to inspire frenzied reactions with its punishing and drawn-out danceparts, ‘Far Beyond Our
Depth’ features furious double-bass drumming overlayed with a dense and impenetrable wall of
dual guitars. Hoarse vocals, with occasional spoken passages, and huge gang backups complete
the equation, as do distinctive and original elements such as the hip-hop influenced drumming on
‘Tentacles of Evilution’ or the melodic singalongs on the epic closing track ‘This is Filthy Paris’. The
menacing poetry of Providence’s lyrics is reflected in the bleak yet beautiful artwork, the perfect
accompaniment to titles such as ‘Swim and Sink’ and ‘With Broken Wings’ which are filled with
veiled meaning and menacing imagery.
Of course, many bands in this day and age can boast similar elements to their style, but the efficiency,
economy and to-the-point aggression Providence display is sure to set them head and shoulders
above the competition. Not one note is wasted, making ‘Far Beyond Our Depth’ a breathtaking and
accomplished metallic hardcore debut.

Formed in early 2006, Leeds’ DEAL WITH IT unleash a thrashing crossover nightmare, dark and
metallic yet unmistakably hardcore in attitude. Brimming with bleak riffs and bleaker visions of
a world moving ever closer to destruction, the band are clearly influenced by late 80’s New York
Hardcore but have instilled their take on this classic formula with a passion and conviction unique
to them.
Over the course of their releases DEAL WITH IT have honed themselves into a unit equally at home
in the studio laying down tight well-written crossover with acomplished musicianship and searing
guitar solos, or punishing audiences with their ferocious live performance, featuring an out-ofcontrol
frontman also unafraid to speak his mind.
Hard-hitting and with something to say, DEAL WITH IT have taken the sound of the past and instilled
it with a frightening relevance to today’s climate of fear and uncertainty.
Leeds’ DEAL WITH IT tear your face off with 11 tracks of apocalyptic crossover savagery on their
debut full-length. With a sound coming straight out of the late 80’s, combined with biting lyrical
content relevant to the times we live in, ‘End Time Prophecies’ truly is the soundtrack to the end of
the world.
This is the kind of furious thrashing and stomping brutality that conjures up images of skins
and longhairs fighting in the pit, in a bygone age when the scenes they represented were not so
comfortable with one another. Mixing the speed and attitude of hardcore with the darkness and
searing intricate solos of metal, Mike’s crucial vocals switch effortlessly between an impassioned,
classic bark and some heart-felt crooning, painting bleak visions of a planet that will only get worse
before it can get better.
Featuring some jaw-dropping hand drawn cover art by Ed Repka (Megadeth, Nuclear Assault etc.),
‘End Time Prophecies’ is the aural equivalent of walking the war-torn streets, avoiding junkies,
gangs and dealers while searching for the truth and mistrusting the powers that be.

Brewed in the heart of the Beatdown Bronx, BILLY CLUB
SANDWICH'S sound is a metallic batch of crushing riffs,
intense drumming and a vocal growl that bleeds New York City
Hardcore. Powerfully combining off-kilter melodic grooves
with bi-ligual lyrics, the foursome (Martin Gonzalez - Vocals,
Tony Malone - Guitar, Gary Muttley - Bass, Glen Lorieo - Drums)
have been creating some of the most uniquely aggressive music
in the New York Hardcore scene for more than ten years.
Building on the strength of their live shows and first two
strong EP's (1997's Hold the Bolgna and 2001's Superhero's
at Leisure) Billy Club Sandwich cemented themselves as a
leader amonst the NYHC scene. A wrecking crew both live
and in the studio, 2004 saw them release their first full length
album on Inner Strength Records titled Chin Music.
Having played over the last few years with a virtual hall of
fame among various hardcore scenes in the US, Puerto Rico,
and in Europe, BCS felt it was time to return to the studio, what
transpired is the hard hitting release, The Usual Suspects.
Throwing in flourishes of genre's as far flung as Merengue and
Thrash, Billy Club Sandwich's release on Dead City is hard
hitting guitars, deep pocket grooves and Spanish/English
lyrics dealing with everything from corruption to wild party
nights. Tracks such as "Bottom of the Barrel" show the studio
polish of a veteran band while, new flourishies in tracks like
"Shark Tank" eye the future for these hard working hard living
Hardcore Hero's.
Formed in the mid 90’s, BILLYCLUB SANDWICH play straight up raw and heavy New York Hardcore,
mixing tales of personal struggle and disgust with a lighter look at life that is uniquely theirs.
These Bronx veterans draw plenty of influence from their neighbourhood, throwing in influences as
different as thrash, hip hop and even merengue into the mix yet always tying them to an unmistakable
NYHC stomp and groove.
Equally competent at the traditional and the original, BCS move effortlessly between crazed
blasting bursts of speed and ridiculously heavy beatdowns. While they are more than capable of
delivering a raging primal slab of HC, the creative and playful side of the band in their approach to
song structures and subjects is equally evident throughout their releases. This fresh approach and
BCS’s mix of Spanish and English lyrics have won them respect far beyond their roots, including
interest (as well as touring opportunities) in Puerto Rico, Europe and beyond.
Harsh, frantic playing and unbelievably harsh vocals are all too common in Hardcore these days
- the refreshing and original approach BCS bring to the modern hardcore scene is sure to shatter
misconceptions and vent frustrations, through both righteous anger and off kilter humour.

Rising from the ashes of Croydon metalcore unit Downtrodden, Hellbent Diehard contains members
of Nine Bar, Diction and Last Hours of Torment. They can only really be described as one of the
most original bands to emerge from the London scene in recent times. The group have proved
themselves impossible to categorize, playing an inspired hybrid of hardcore, punk, rock, metal, and
post-hardcore. This melting pot of technicality and brutality is definitely kept on the hardcore side
of things by Chris’s clear, unmistakably London-accented vocals and the ferocious yet focused
speed and power of the music.
With its high level of musicianship, each instrument in Hellbent Diehard’s arsenal comes into
its own, as straight-up speed and danceable brutality mix with intricate, technical interludes to
devastating effect. There is something here for fans of numerous genres to appreciate, but look no
further than this band for a truly unique and fresh approach to heavy music.
South London’s Hellbent Diehard blend a bewildering array of diverse influences on their unique
debut CD. Despite being held together by a continuous brutal street-level groove, the band journeys
through a myriad of styles, taking from hardcore, punk, rock, metal and post-hardcore to create an
intricate and technical sound that, it is safe to say, is completely their own yet fits in well with the
acts alongside them on Rucktion Records.
Combining the above influences in a convincing manner requires a high standard of musicianship,
and without doubt this is something the band possesses in abundance. Guitar and bass solos
abound, held together by some ultra-tight and distinctive drum patterns. Of course, with such a
broad vision it’s crucial that the voice of the band matches its musical power, and vocalist Chris
is clearly up to the task. His clear and unmistakably London-accented vocals also experiment with
melody and gruffness, as the rest of the band occasionally add their own lines to keep the variation
going. In a scene saturated with clones, Hellbent Diehard’s debut unquestionably stands alone and
without equal as ultra-ambitious and conceptual, yet unmistakably hardcore. This band delivers on
all fronts and it is hard not to be impressed by their simultaneous intelligence and brutality.

Formed in Liege, Belgium, back in 1997, SURGE OF FURY first came together with no other aims
apart from to enjoy playing together. Over a decade later, through line-up changes and various
releases, the band have never strayed from the path they have chosen, and never will. Not motivated
by fame, money or anything other than the passion they feel, not swayed by criticism or seeking
anyone’s approval, SURGE OF FURY have only ever followed their own hearts.
Although the band’s roots and influences in heavy, aggressive hardcore are obvious, their approach
to song writing is anything but - SURGE OF FURY’s arrangements are far from typical, and always
capable of keeping listeners on their toes with the way an ultra heavy, double-bass driven dance
part can clobber you out of nowhere, or the fresh and imaginative twist they add to the standard
hardcore song structure.
Nevertheless, there is plenty in their music to prove that the band also excel at creating straight up
raging ultra fast hardcore, with harsh bellowed vocals and furious group backups.
With their combination of fast, manic energy and off kilter staccato heaviness, it’s clear that SURGE
OF FURY have sought to innovate rather than clone anything that has come before them. Honed into
a tight and experienced unit by years of playing together across Europe, the band remain bonded
together by the music they love, and have seen many come and go while they have continued to
hold true.
Straight outta Tox City, aka Liege, Belgium, comes the third full-length CD by SURGE OF FURY.
Containing 15 tracks of monstrous street-level hardcore, “IN MY TOX CITY” is a mix of straightahead
raging speed and vicious stop-and-start brutality that definitely gives the band a unique
identity.
Tracks like the opener “Dedication” and the ultra-fast “Forever” prove that SURGE OF FURY are
much more than competent at injecting the hardcore basics into their sound, and the band even
throw in touches like the football terrace style change on “LGHC” and some Oi! Oi! backups, adding
a raucous, punky edge and proving they are willing to experiment outside of what is expected from
their style. But what really sets SURGE OF FURY apart from the pack is the pounding, choppy
groove that pulsates throughout the course of the album, always appearing when you least expect
it and each time building up to a ferociously heavy conclusion.
Filled with original song writing, manic speed and huge beats sure to get any crowd moving,
topped-off with harsh roared vocals and huge group backups, SURGE OF FURY blend innovation
and tradition to devastating effect. “IN MY TOX CITY” truly captures the sound of a band filled with
energy and passion for what they do.

Formed in late 2006, Bristol’s TRUE VALIANCE have come a long way from their origins as a group of friends playing covers and trying to kickstart a hardcore scene in their city. Having now built a strong local following and taken their energetic and passionate live set around the UK and beyond, this band is hungry to get back out there as much as possible. TRUE VALIANCE’s style could be best described as mosh meets melody and message, taking influences from 90’s metallic hardcore but adding in a more modern ferocity and some lighter, more uplifting moments of melodic sincerity. Tight musicianship welds these apparently incompatible elements together, and with a singer also capable of bridging the gap between these styles it is easy to see how TRUE VALIANCE can share bills with a diverse array of bands yet provoke the same reaction. Lyrics range from heartfelt, positive and forward-looking to furious and vengeful hatred for authority and other oppressors. Catch them live in their home town if possible - the band puts everything into their performance, and the crazed reaction of the crowd is not to be missed - but wherever they go TRUE VALIANCE bring the same devotion and dedication to the music they love, and are determined to continue down this path for as long as possible. At the forefront of Bristol’s growing scene, TRUE VALIANCE’s debut release clobbers you round the head with six tracks of classic and sincere metallic UKHC, unmistakably English in attitude and delivery. ‘Hooked on Revenge’ brings to mind the sound that previous bands from the South West of the UK made their own, mixing dark, pounding tunes with an inspirational attitude. Themes of vengence and hope run both musically and lyrically through this EP, from the positive message and energy of ‘Values’ to the furious stomp and hatred of authority conveyed by the title track. These emotions are equally evident in singer Andy, as his voice moves between a guttural scream and a clearer, more traditional shouted style. Crammed full of tight musicianship, furious danceable brutality and old-school speed, ‘Hooked on Revenge’ is an impressive and confident debut from a young band already acomplished enough to carry the torch and secure the future of UKHC for another generation. http://www.rucktionmusic.com/default.aspx?productID=9331.
