Hey Everybody,
So, it's now August 2009, and we are still working on getting a new CD recorded. Last year and this year have been full of excitment for us. I'm sure when the dust settles though, you will have an amazing new NSDW record to lull you back to sleep.
Nik is now playing guitar for Corey Taylor (Slipknot/Stone Sour). He'll be playing a few big festivals coming up, so be sure to watch for that.
Thanks everyone who's still here=) Keep trucking

Nik Sorak & The Dead Wait (Sea Of Uncertainty)
by Josh Munley

Nik Sorak & The Dead Waits' first full-length album release with TDM records "Sea Of Uncertainty" is beautiful, plain and simple. The tracks on the album are beautifully mastered and the vocals are done very well. Not only are the lyrics brilliant, but the music is so gracefully crafted, that it seems that at times it seems like the music has indeed, come from heaven itself. This is a subtle message that I think Nick Sorak and the Dead Wait try to get across in this album: a simplistic spirituality that in turn, is so complex that I wonder if they even understand it all. All in all, I give this album a top notch rating in quality.

Sea Of Uncertainty opens up with "Simplicity", which is a pretty up-beat song for this album because many of the other songs are slower in tempo, but it is so catchy that you won't get it out of your head for days to come. The lyrics are somewhat reminiscent of Jimmy Eat World, in my opinion. The next song on the album, "Don't Let Go" reminds me of the singer Imogean Heap, who is a female musician from Great Britain, with a very similar, minimalist. approach towards her music. the vocals are simply touching, it will automatically get you thinking of great times gone by. The sixth track on Sea Of Uncertainty is "…And The Dead Wait", which has a slow rhythm, which is very melodic, and almost reminds me one of the many slow Beatles' songs. I have left the title track, track four on the album, "Sea Of Uncertainty", for last. The vocals are emphasized in this song so much, and it is for a good reason. They say every song tells a story, but anyone listening to this song is sure to be able to relate to it in one way or the other.

Nik Sorak & The Dead Wait have come a long way with their first album release from TDM Records. Although the album might be a little slow-paced for some, the lyrics, vocals, and brilliant guitar and bass make up for it by leaps and bounds. It may also be added to their credit, that this album only consists of Nik on guitar and vocals, and Cole on bass and back-up vocals, with the assistance of a kick-drum and tambourine. This album is crystal-clear, and is top-notch quality with the help of producers Wes Krenz, and Roy. The packaging of this album is a plastic slip, with a paper insert, which has magnificent artwork on it going with the "aquatic" theme of the album. Although I would have loved to see lyrics included with the album, the vocals are clear enough to understand them after you have listened to it two or three (or in my case around 20) times, by then you will have them memorized well enough to sing along.

It often sometimes seems that in life, almost everyone lives in a "Sea of Uncertainty" from time to time. With this being the somewhat unfortunate case, it's good to know that Nik Sorak and the Dead Wait are there to relate to in those times, or even, dare I say, to help guide the way to calmer waters.
