RELEASE INFO

Halu Beats Recordings proudly presents the debut album of Kalumet, busiest progressive artist in Hungary with over 300 live performances and a more then 10 years long musical past behind. Besides his Kalumet project Zoltan Vajda also gained himself worldwide reputation with several side projects ranging from breaks to minimal techno. Under the name Kalumet he has been playing live since 1999 which makes his debut album really long overdue. Probably one of the longest processes in Trance history, the album has been made between 2004 and 2009. This is undoubtedly the dirtiest punk psytrance ever heard, creating a special world where progressive meets suomi trance, techno and breakbeat with lots of dubby, reggae and jazzy elements as well as some live instruments like guitar, bass or harmonica. As this album is dedicated to Kurt Vonnegut, Kalumet provides serious themes in a very ironic way. Don't be surprised to hear lots of Vonnegut voice samples in the tracks. Once you got familiar with the Kalumet Sound you never going to get bored with it!

ARTIST INFO

Kalumet (Zoltan Vajda, Hungary) started his musical career in 1993 as a bass player in a school band. One year later he attended his first dance party and his interests turned towards contemporary electronic music. When his band split up, he got a computer and started to create his own sounds with acoustic and electronic instruments such as guitars, percussions, synths, and of course the computer. His first tracks were trance, dub, breakbeat and jazzy jungle tunes. In the same time he and his friends founded a party promoter and dj collective project called Alapzaj. The group was a significant point in the underground techno scene of Budapest. The first released track (a remix of the famous Hungarian band, Korai Öröm from 1998) was soon followed by others on several compilations. By this time he had deepened in psychedelic trance and concentrated on producing quality psychedelic music. His unique style was highly appreciated so he become a well-known artist in Hungary. More and more releases and gigs came, and that time he realised that making musical fusions are the most important things in creating new sounds so he started to mix genres in a tasty manner. His first international big success was his live act on legendary Boom Festival in 2004 in Portugal. Kalumet is always busy with different projects: making riddims for ragga mc's, playing bass and guitar on a hip hop recording session, composing music for films and theater pieces, running side projects like Rezzonance Dogs, Tupoliev, Monotonists, Ork Monk, Trevor McGregor and Kalumet in Dub.

In our secret Psylife laboratories we cooked a brand new surprise to all of our friends and fans of futuristic and fusion electronic music: those of you who'd like to hear progressive-minimal-dark-tech-psy-trance or whatever you call the music what makes you believe that there is still a future for all these sub-styles. We believe that the future is the fusion.

The sub-label of Psylife Music called Halu Beats Records was born to release and promote sounds from the progressive side of psychedelics - with that original meaning of the word 'progressive'. The first compilation is strong in remixes and interesting side-projects.

Adam Hohmann from the psytrance project Parahalu came up with a new alterego (which is his real name) and made a pumping remix of Ace Ventura's bomb 'Rebirth' while Deto, his partner in The Path project prepared a passionate version of Kino Oko's earlier gem 'Pasyonata'.

Hungary's promising prog-psy-tech-trance-tribal act, Kalumet is the man behind the remix of Tegma's Night in Cairo, and the producer behind the tracks Bong and Time Killer. His very first album will be definately one of the most awaited debuts after you hear these tracks: watch out for the full-length by him coming on Halu Beats in the near future.

Our tricky side-project orientated compilation has got an other big boom: Ocelot meets Haltya. Ocelot from the USA who used to be committed to fast and twisted psychedelic trance but nowadays going melodic and using a wide range of elements in his music, shows his talent in the slower side of trance this time. With his good friend Haltya who signs the track under the name Justin Space they made 'Dirty Appetite' with groovy rhytms which makes you really hungry for their next installment.

Masters of mixing dark and prog, australian Sensient (man behind Zenon Records) and the brazilian duo Minimal Criminal show us their unique catchy rhytms and unearthly atmospheres in the tracks Square One and Graverobbers from Outer Space wich tracks give the keynote of the compilation's sound and concept.

Halu Beats volume 1. along with the Psylife Music releases will be available not only in CD format but at biggest internet music stores of the world as quality digital downloads too (iTunes, Beatport, Napster, Emusic, Juno, etc).

Release 15 February 2008.
